irepbtown3996d ago

ZombieKiller3996d ago

Lior3996d ago

shame it will be in 720p, gonna buy it for my ps3 as I still have one but I will buy the pc version the minute its out and play it at 2560 1440 or 1440p

3-4-53996d ago

It's a shame Super Mario World is only in 16-bit....

It's not a shame....we should be grateful we get to play this game on any console.

Pl4sm43996d ago

shame ill get it on the ps4 not the ps3 :(
lol

ape0073996d ago

ain't no different than 1080P

PurpHerbison3996d ago

It kind of is a shame to be honest.

Muffins12233996d ago

Yea i would wait for the pc or ps4 version...

ZombieKiller3996d ago

@Lior- dude those are 1st world problems. a game this size running on 7 year old hardware...consider yourself lucky....and spoiled.

deafdani3996d ago

If it is 720p, it will be a marked step up from GTA IV and its expansions (Gay Tony and Lost & Damned), which ran all at 640p, at least on the PS3. The resolution looked decent on my 32" 720p Sony Bravia when I first played those games, but when I replayed them on my upgraded TV (full HD 50" Viera), my eyes bled. So. Damn. Blurry.

:P

xflo3603996d ago

@3-4-5 Its a shame that more gamers aren't like me and you (cup half-full people).

We are spoilt as gamers these days: Online, free demo's, cheap games, variety and choice, great value consoles, very cheap mobile gaming etc.. Yet there are still those who moan and squabble about petty little things that just dont matter.

Just play your games people, and love life!

FlyingFoxy3995d ago

1080P if you want high framerate, in game graphic settings affect much more how the game looks over resolution.

I'm waitin on the pc version anyway hoping Rockstar do a good job this time and have a huge multiplayer. otherwise its back to SA-MP again.

It'll be the perfect terrorism-simulator for that area. Or at least that's what the news channels will be saying around release.

We all know it's coming. It happens with every GTA game.

BISHOP-BRASIL3996d ago

It's still not 1:1... It's really scaled down and some areas are different (and I think it's on purpose, you don't want to go too realistic when you can do whatever you want creating your own city, you have hardware/larbour time restrictions and some stuff are just more fun if you make 'em different, afterall it's game, i.e. fun, not a simulation, i.e. realistic). So no, it can't be used as a terrorist simulator...

That said, you still have a point, if anything as minor as a kid trowing a fart bomb on a school bathroom in LA area, you can be sure we'll be hearing about GTA 5 on Fox News.

MEsoJD3996d ago

Being from SoCal is kind of surreal. I can't wait!

Retroman3995d ago (Edited 3995d ago )

that is wrong with games now days to much like reality
not enough FUN games these days. grand theft auto, uncharted, call of duty, battlefield, destiny list go's on. to many games focus on terrorist and not FUN anymore.illuminati got you guy's just where they want you blind.

ApolloTheBoss3996d ago

I really need to play this to believe how big it is. I still can't picture a world map three times bigger than Red Dead.

teedogg803996d ago

I know right. And they say it's gonna be five times the size of RDR.

Oschino19073996d ago (Edited 3996d ago )

Didn't they say the land mass was 3 1/2 RDRs or bigger then GTA IV, RDR and San Andreas combined?

Unless you are counting all the water areas also, but even though you can fly over it or swim/drive on it and Scuba dive I wouldn't quite say that it's worth counting in terms of overall map size. There will be fun things to do with the water areas for sure but not nearly as much as on land.

Unless they have submarines..... Racing sumbmarines.... and an underwater city.

_-EDMIX-_3996d ago (Edited 3996d ago )

Now THATS WHAT I WANT TO HEAR! That is progress and classic Rockstar. No more of this "GTAIV little map DVD9 crap" I want the biggest, best GTA they can make.

NO LIMITS!

Mutant-Spud3996d ago

Well thank goodness it'll have cars and planes and not horses.

turnerdc3996d ago (Edited 3996d ago )

http://www.giantbomb.com/im...

Looks like 1996's Daggerfall is the reigning champ with a world map size of 62,394 square miles compared to Red Dead's map size of around 28 square miles.

Elwenil3996d ago

Minecraft is said to have the potential to generate a 1,575,605,688 square mile map so I would say it wins in overall size. It would literally take you days of real time to walk far enough to expand the map to that size though.

yess3996d ago (Edited 3996d ago )

Pfft...

Say hello to Outerra, planet size map, inc. space.

This is an engine not a game, but you can download and play around with the engine right now.

http://outerra.com/

SpideySpeakz3996d ago

Elwenil. That would take 36 days to go from the middle of the map to the end.

MrDead3996d ago

Frontier Elite 2 gives you a galaxy where you can fly to and around any planet and any star within the game.

Dasteru3996d ago

@yess:

Earth is 57,500,000 mi^2.

Minecraft 1,575,605,688 mi^2

If Outerra is planet size based on earth then minecraft is about 25-30x the size.

dogoodmatters3996d ago

For the time Daggerfall released, absolutely!

rooxx3996d ago

@dasteru Don't forget there's a huge difference between completely random worlds (can be made infinite) and large worlds based on real data or artistically modeled worlds.

Minecraft is essentially competing in a different category.

DeadManMcCarthy3996d ago (Edited 3996d ago )

I doubt those maps are even to scale, and not in equal proportions.

fattyuk3996d ago

it is and isn't about the size of the map,

but how unique and detailed that Map is.

ZombieKiller3996d ago

that's what people with "small maps" say....ask her to be honest and she will tell you size matters

fattyuk3995d ago

Are you a 13yr old virgin or something??

Is that the most intellectual comment you could come up with.... oh sorry "cum" up with hehehe.

meh,

madara0sama3996d ago (Edited 3996d ago )

Just imagine instead of open plains, there are a lot of empty buildings. I just hope it's not as bland as GTA4.

_-EDMIX-_3996d ago

Buddy, the second I heard GTAV would be the biggest, I stopped caring about what GTAIV WAS! Understand they where exteremly limited coming off DVD JUST to use DVD AGAIN! What ever MS let them do on 360 weather it be install or mulitpledisk or both etc, I'm just happy the game is not being hindered.

I'm right there with you, I don't ever want a GTA like GTAIV. Bland, small, less features, less....well everything. This GTA IS THE REAL GTAIV!

DeadManMcCarthy3996d ago

Empty buildings and empty desert. Not complaining though.

BozoLoco3996d ago

RDR seemed very big because it was a very vasp, empty map. It was fun to explore but for the most part it was like that. I think that they will balance it out so that it feels like a really big San Andreas, more than a really big RDR. Like, the main city hubs will be a little bit bigger, and so will the country red neck towns. So I think we'll get a very similar map to San Andreas.

brodychet3996d ago

5 times the size, including water.

Pintheshadows3996d ago

I don't see how it being similar geographically to the real world is an issue. I can't run down countless pedestrians in real life and get away with it. My point is it is what you can do in the world that matters. The richer and more detailed that world is, the better the experience.

T23996d ago

yes and if you look at san andreas it was a great map at the time, but there weren't really enough fast travel methods at the time... I can remember losing a vehicle and riding my pedal bike from the mountains to the nearest.......... nearest...... road, only to find a tractor that topped out at 10mph... LOL good times but fast travel is essential in GTA if they are gonnna do huge maps. The taxis were good in GTAIV, good start. perhaps heli-taxi is coming...

M_Prime3996d ago

I just had Brucie pick me up in the Helicopter in GTAIV

Fez3996d ago

I hope to see a system where if you get in that situation and switch character, you can choose if you want the previous stranded character to make his own way back to the nearest safehouse or a user-specified location or whether to just leave him where he is.

Or just heli-taxi's, that would do!

N4OGs3996d ago

if its close to the real world then when you get the game do some taxi missions and then irl you can become a real cab driver because the game helped you memorize every place without even needing the street names

KillrateOmega3996d ago

Buy our new game, GTA V, or as we know it, Virtual Taxi Driver Trainer.

Oschino19073996d ago

Hey atleast kids that play will be getting themselves ready for the "real world". Maybe have an option to play as a sanitation worker or DOT worker who holds signs around road work.

LKHGFDSA3996d ago

Wow, those comparisons are really impressive.
They've put so much work into this game.

Rockstar need to learn that 12 years of work and 5000 employees doesn’t account for one persons opinion on the internet…

Profchaos32d ago (Edited 32d ago )

Oh and hundreds of millions of dollars in revanue to boot.

Lots of complaints about gta ever since the hd era started and yet it's bugger than its ever been with gta vi up to 180 million trailer views alone. The next game is shaping it be be another genre defining game

MetalGearsofWar32d ago

They already learned they dont have to actually make a great game

sagapo32d ago

The controls of RDR2 felt a but cluncky indeed, but it’s not as bad as some make it out to be. At no point did I get the feeling my experience with the game was held back or ruined by the controls.
But it can never hurt to optimize them a bit, sure.

Zhipp32d ago (Edited 32d ago )

I did accidentally beat someone to death a couple times. An unfortunate mistake but besides that I didn't have any problems with the controlls

jznrpg32d ago

Red Dead Redemption felt clunky at first but I got used to it fairly quick. I thought 2 was easier to control but it could be my experience with the first game helped me out. Great games

Profchaos32d ago

I wouldn't call Rockstar games characters clunky instead they feel like they move with Weight they are not twitch controls press x to instantly snap onto cover the characters instead move like a actor would ducking behind cover they are exposed while they get there.
