EA Publishing Star Wars Games: Good or Bad?

Dual Pixels - EA is going to be publishing and developing new Star Wars games with DICE (Battlefield 3), Visceral (Dead Space), and BioWare (Mass Effect, Knights of the Old Republic). I, perhaps like you, read the news and responded with a groan.

Good:They have some amazing studio's.
Bad:Microtransactions,always online and Origin.

Yeah EA has some really good developers so im sure they can cook up something nice for star wars. I'm just thankful activision didn't get it cause you know it would of been garbage, just like every other non call of duty game they make! .... poor walking dead...

While I agree with you, I think the fact that they have some amazing studios is kind of moot.

Maxis and Bioware USED to be incredible studios, but they have "mysteriously" started sucking under the management at EA.

EA equals 3rd party on all consoles. Now that what had to happen w/ an IP like Star Wars.

Wow surprised Disney is not publishing and developing the new Star Wars games themselves. Glad its EA shame I wouldn't mind High Moon Studios doing a Star Wars game their games are great.

Ok, so this is somewhat going to happen:

People who hated EA but like Battlefront/Star wars etc; They will only like EA for publishing it, or they will like EA again in general.

If the star wars games turn out crap, then EA will continue being hated.

Either way, people will still hate EA. But they will probably still like [some of their] games.

Neither, I'd rather they worked with independent studios.. the type that would pour their heart and soul into the game and it's success would actually mean something other than the latest car model and a luxury cruise for a shareholder's family.

Imagine if someone like Rocksteady got hold of the license. There are tons of great developers out there who could do amazing things with the license but I fear it will be swept up in EA's greed and it will show in the final products.
