It's THAT time of year again. The most important time of year, for any gamer, aside from the holiday season. That's right - It's E3. The Electronic Entertainment Expo is a little more than a month away, and developers, investors, and gamers alike, are all getting revved up for the exciting events that will take place, at what is to be the BIGGEST, most important E3 in years. But despite it's importance, a certain company made a startling announcement that has left many stunned and others waving their "DOOM!" flags:
"We decided not to host a large-scale presentation targeted at everyone in the international audience where we announce new information as we did in the past"
- Satoru Iwata - CEO of Nintendo of America
Hanzala from eXputer: "The cruel hammer of Nintendo has fallen. Farewell, 3DS and Wii U, you surely brightened my life and many others; you won't be forgotten."
Hanzla from eXputer inquires: "If Xbox can care about preserving its games and legacy, what exactly is wrong with Nintendo, trying to kill game preservation single-handedly?"
Ahh yes the good old game preservation of saving all your games to a removable hhd on the Xbox 360, taking it round your mates house, setting up multiple tvs to
Be met with “save data corrupted, please re download”
Or how about removing 360 games
From the store
, download them now or else, and, better hope to god that save data doesn’t corrupt, or it’s lost for ever
Nice one ☝️
This is just a scammy PR move to distract from the fact they are going digital only and trying to push streaming and subscriptions only.
No gaming company has pushed harder to remove ownership than Microsoft.
Without discs there is no preservation, preservation can't be done by the rights holders it can only be done by the consumers, anything else is a lie.
Nobody wants this. Sales or the lack of it in the case of XBOX is very telling. I wonder how the adorably all digital series X will fare. Adorably dismal perhaps?
Only time will tell, but for from someone like me suspecting that Xbox is trying to gracefully exit the console market, that "forward compatibility" team is trying to get Xbox games playing on Windows PCs. I mean, it's nice that they're not planning on exiting with a "enjoy your games while the hardware still works" message, so that's nice. They still have a brand to protect via Microsoft so probably feel obligated to have a better exit strategy.
Danish from eXputer: "Nintendo has historically gone against player-made content and emulation of its games. This has done much to harm the company's image."
They need to stop announcing these mods and fan remakes until they're finished. Finish it, upload it, and then if Nintendo dmca's it tough shit. Once it's online, people can share it around, even if the original download gets taken down.
This is all coming from the mouth of short-sighted fandom and grifting madness.
No.... it wont. There is a clear defined reason why they don't. This is nothing new. Make your own shi7 from your own original ideas especially if you are trying to capitalize of it it. Duh.
Yeah, hire people that have zero respect or understanding for an established process. Wow. Yep. Totally makes sense.
its nintendo, so no its not the end of the world. its just a really, really, really, really, really, bad choice marketing wise. I keep hearing they need to save money but with the 3ds outselling everything why would they need to save. ive honestly never seen anyone back down from a console since dreamcast, and we know THAT outcome...SEGA was already in the hole though before the dreamcast (which was a great console imo) . Nintendo is not so to me this is a pussy move..that or they just dont have much to show. Sony skipped on the vita last year and look what happened people were thinking the vita wasn't a priority for sony. the vita will make it but sonys marketing was highly criticized for this and they should have been. the wiiu is less than a year old selling worse than expected and yoh skip out on gamings biggest stage? bad marketing and Nintendo is failing the wiiu....all these excuses are dumb.
It's not the END of the World-
BUT "it's the END of the World as Wii Know it." (knew it)
Yeah its the end of the world.
If they release trailers and gameplay footage from some of these rumored games, they'll do well. Maybe the money they save from not doing a huge show can go towards advertising?
I wonder how many articles there will be on Nintendo did a clever/stupid/indifferent thing by not being at e3.
Someone should start a sweepstake. Ill go for 143 including the 1s already created. Iwata can count them for us. Winner gets a lap dance from Reggie.
