New GTA 5 gameplay details: eight things you need to know

OXM UK: "The eagle has landed, ladies and gentlemen. We have now lain eyes on working builds of Grand Theft Auto 5, and can confirm that it is a game of considerable promise."

Psychotica4009d ago

Wow, the replay value of this game is going to be amazing. Can't wait for September..

dirigiblebill4009d ago

Agreed, nice to see there are more customisation options this time - sort of feels like they've learned a thing or two from Saints Row.

A2X_4009d ago

Customisation was in San Andreas, wich came out in 2004. If anything, Saints Row could learn from GTA, not the other way around.

dirigiblebill4009d ago

I recall there being car customisation. Could you customise things like weapons too?

Fair point in general that SR owes more to GTA than vice versa.

A2X_4009d ago

There was no weapon customisation. Character customisation was pretty good though.

I'm just glad they're getting customisation back in GTA V.

Apparently, many journalists have had 30 minutes GTA 5 game play demoed and many have said the water physics are phenomenal and R* have completely eliminated pop-in and draw distance issues.

It takes approx 3 - 6 seconds (depending where characters are on the map) to switch characters via a google earth type system.

There is a full eco-system of wildlife and the NPC's are uniquely different, unlike the repeat NPC's of previous games.

The game was demoed to CVG on the PS3 version...a full 90 minute video detailing what they saw is up on Youtube right now...Search 'GT5OCLOCK' CVG.

Go peek, it's a worthy 90 minutes of your time :)

DoomeDx4009d ago (Edited 4009d ago )

Actually..Most previews said it was full of pop-ins and draw distance issues.

And thats pretty much the only bad thing I hear about this game.

Cant wait!

sway_z4009d ago (Edited 4009d ago )

Yeah Ok, but I was referring to the "many journalists" @CVG specifically where it was said the PS3 version had zero pop in during their demo.

At no time at all did I mention another site but for CVG.

I have not read nor seen any other previews that you're referring to. Maybe the pop in and draw distance you read or heard about was a non PS3 version, earlier code or whatever?

Perhaps you could name these sites where you have read bad pop in and draw distances on PS3?

The PS3 is the lead system for GTA V (360 was for GTA IV), So I would definitely take what CVG have said over what you're claiming, since you have not seen it first hand.

I can't wait either..and that's all :)

""graphically, it’s unimpressive. It looks like an enhanced version of Grand Theft Auto IV with an extra sheen added, but it also doesn’t stand up to its far more graphically-impressive contemporaries. It doesn’t look five-plus years newer than the game that came before it. "" That's IGN, they also said that it suffered from pop-ins and draw distance issues.

"As for looks, I'm honestly not sure what to make of the V's graphics. The GTA V I saw running on PS3 hardware at Rockstar looked slightly better than GTAIV. That GTA V, though, didn't look as good to me as the one we see in the trailers.I'd still like a GTA V that looks as sharp as the game does in its trailers."
That's from Kotaku's preview.
The game was demoed on PS3 for everyone.

steve30x4009d ago

I cant wait. Its everything I wanted in a GTA game from the sounds of it

bluetoto4009d ago

Gotta admit my interest in V was lukewarm after 4, but this info has got me dreaming of what I've longed for a while now, a next gen SA to dump 100's of hours into.

This year is going to be one to remembered in gaming, I believe!

C-Thunder4009d ago

I'm still hoping for a next gen release. Draw in, textures, effects on screen, could all get a big boost on next gen. I'm inclined to believe it will happen, especially with reporters noting the gameplay they're showing off isn't up to the standard set with their trailers...

More interested in money than giving fans what they want. Such a shame

CrimsonWing691d 14h ago

With the amount of money they generated, I just don’t understand the scrubbing of this. It would’ve been fantastic for fans.

Profchaos1d 12h ago

I really want to know who drove the decision to focus on multiplayer was it Rockstar or take two.

Because when online started taking off many of the studio leads began having falling outs and leading including a founder

Demetrius1d 1h ago

Ikr mfs that greedy it's ridiculous

andy851d 11h ago

This makes me sad. Trevor was one of my favourite characters in gaming

Demetrius1d 1h ago

One of the reason I believe once gta 6 release, most of us thoroughly play it, enjoy the world they crafted then after that no offline support, no dlc at all
