Alan Wake 2 is set in 2023, yet in Bright Falls and the Dark Place, there's a recurring element that feels somewhat anachronistic.
A haunted 4k OLED doesn't quite hit the same. Analog horror is a genre for a reason, they matry much better than digital and horror. Like which sounds better, a haunted VHS or a haunted PDF
You're spot on. Plus, having old technology is world-building. It immediately makes you question (even subconsciously) why an old television still exists there. It adds character and background in a subtle way. It is unsettling for the player, and attracts their attention in the best possible way because something about it isn't right.
Remedy revealed that Alan Wake 2 has recouped most of the investment made by Epic. They also talked about more regular sequels for their IPs.
Damn. I was hoping this would happen faster. Control were both fantastic, albeit flawed. Hoping for more. I know he said they are planning sequels, but its hard to get investors and publishers on board when they don't see quick returns.
For how much people talk about this title you would think it was a much bigger success. Popularity doesn't equal quality and vice versa tho
It would be Microsoft decision since Remedy would need a publisher to fund the project
I'm really hoping it is announced soon. I really wanted to like the first one. Loved the set up, the atmosphere, the way they had the episode like chapters complete with music and scenes for the next episode.
Hopefully they make it the actual action a lot less monotonous than the first one.
It would make an excellent launch title, the game has gone on to sell 2 million copies, it has a following, and I believe Remedy could take full advantage of the power of the next Xbox, maybe even making it more of an open world game.
It was one of my favorite new IP's this generation, so hopefully we see more of Alan Wake!
