Surviving the First Few Hours of Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen

Push Square: "As you may already know, Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen is actually a re-release of last year's Dragon's Dogma. While there’s no doubt that veteran players will be returning to Gransys in order to tackle the daunting expansion from which the re-release gets its name, we thought we’d take the time to jot down a few tips for the fresh-faced newcomers who know nothing about the daunting task that lies ahead."

I loved this game and hav been waiting forever for it. Ironically, I started dark souls a couple weeks ago and I am hooked. Cant wait to get back to dragoms dogma though. Everyone os saying that they built the expansion to be a lot like dark souls.

Starting over (stays and abilities) on hard mode is harder then the soul series

Hanso4007d ago

I bought a few days ago Dragons Dogma DA and Dark souls PTD
I started Dark Souls first and then played the beginning of Dragons Dogma just to see what its like..
is there no dodge in Dragons Dogma?

xXxSeTTriPxXx4007d ago

Fighters parry, mages float, assassins flip and parry, warriors absorb dmg.

Nevers4007d ago

I'm finding DD:DA in hardmode pretty difficult as well but mainly because I'm being lazy, lol. I knew better than to be lazy playing Souls games. Another reason is the DA content has added a little 'cheap' for my whine. Getting one shotted by so many creatures at lvl 150 w/ endgame gear is hilariously frustrating... The dungeon design is also pretty fun. It's a little deceptive.

I'd love to progress in this game but every time I try to play it, it lags and jitters. I'm thinking I'm suffering from HDD issues :(

ThanatosDMC4007d ago

No, it was the patch. The fps became higher but for some odd reason it pauses/lags from time to time.

Kenshin_BATT0USAI4007d ago

That might be true, but I encountered the same issue with Ni no kuni and Infamous 2. I'm pretty sure my HDD is acting up. (I have infamous 2 downloaded onto my HDD and NiNoKuni is disc-based, both had these issues too meaning it can't be my laser and is most likely my HDD acting up whenever a write process is occuring.)

ThanatosDMC4007d ago

Ah, then for you it might be your HDD. Hope you can back it up before it kills itself with all your data. Time to upload all your save files to the cloud.

ZoyosJD4007d ago

That depends on how much space you have left on your HDD when you get down to say 10GB on a 120GB HDD everything starts to slow. I completely filled my HDD once and the borderlands DLC practically became a slideshow in the Mad Moxie tournaments.

You Can Now Get The First Dragon's Dogma For Less Than $5 Before The Sequel Arrives

Ahead of Dragon's Dogma 2's global release, the first iteration in the series by Capcom has been discounted by 84% on Steam.

If anyone is wondering the first one still holds up well to this day. It's fun

Grandia, Klonoa, and Parappa... NICE!

MrBaskerville155d ago (Edited 155d ago )

Grandia is especially nice, as I don't think it's available on psn atm. Wonder if it's a psx port or the Switch version.

If they didn't despise ps2, they could have added Grandia 2-3 as well.

shinoff2183154d ago

It's not a despise. Far as I've read their working on better emulation. It'll come.

LG_Fox_Brazil155d ago

GRANDIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. Fckn love that game

StormSnooper154d ago

Is it good? I never played that.

crazyCoconuts155d ago

Been thinking of getting Teardown on Steam for Steam Deck play. Heard a lot of great reviews for it.

MrBeatdown154d ago

Played the first half hour last night. All I did was wreck a building but what a blast.

Elda155d ago

Nothing of interest for me. My sub is up in 2 weeks & I'll go with Essentials only for cloud saves & online. Having Extra or Premium is a waste for me seeing most games that land on the service are old that I've played already or old games I never had any interest in playing.

crazyCoconuts155d ago

Respect your opinion, just pointing out that Teardown is a Day One Extra release for PS, not an old game in this case. Gotham Knights last month was a year old.

Elda154d ago

I have no interest in Teardown. I bought & played Gotham Knights when it was first released in October 2022. Every month I'm always buying the latest AAA or AA games when they first release to play on my PS5, the very reason why Extra & Premium is a waste of money for me.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Alternatives – 7 Top Games Like Baldur’s Gate 3

Baldur’s Gate is a name synonymous with party-based fantasy RPG games. There’s still a stretch of time until the third instalment finally leaves early access. While you’re waiting for the gates to open and welcome you to Forgotten Realms, you might be looking for similar games to ease the wait.

anast280d ago

Some good games on that list.

FalcorMononoke279d ago (Edited 279d ago )

In my personal opinion, Divinity Original Sin 2 is better than any of the Baldur's Gate games.

Becuzisaid279d ago

Are you including BG3 in that comparison? Or just the first 2? The first 2 are tough to get into now, and I never liked the ad&d rules. The 5e rules are much easier to grasp. But BG3 seems to be just DOS2 but times 10. Haven't played it in early access at all, just going by what I see online.

Nittdarko279d ago

hilarious because the game that is most like BG3 and a game every DND fan should try is Solasta and its not even on this list
