I wish it moved to a different city every year. I'm tired of it being in LA all the time. Maybe even International cities.

Root4015d ago (Edited 4015d ago )

That would be nice

Least it would allow people in the UK to attend the event.

I think the reason it's loosing importance is because they reveal EVERYTHING before E3. The spend most of the show talking about stuff we've already saw or heard.

3-4-54015d ago

That is because everyone is focused on being First instead of being accurate.

So all the info is out there..true or not

I wish people in the industry kept better secrets.

Nintendo actually does a good job of this, hence why nobody new about ALttP until they asked us about it/ or hinted at it a few months ago.

Knight_Crawler4015d ago (Edited 4015d ago )

I agree, they need to move it from LA.

Also the reason why E3 has loss relevance is because of the last 3 mediocre years...last year was one of the worst by far with Sony focusing on Wonder Book and MS focusing on Kinect - last year E3 was only saved by Ubisoft and Watch Dog.

Edit: LOL at the Wonder Book and Kinect fans disagreeing with me.

sergons4015d ago

Wonder Book fans, mostly...

Crazay4015d ago

I agree and yes I think E3 might be losing some of it's sheen that made it so exciting for consoles to be announced at. Now the trend seems to be holding private events so as to enjoy the spotlight on their own without the competitors buzz in the halls outside the announcement doors.

Blastoise4015d ago

I don't get it, why does it matter where it's set?

At the end of the day the big event is the conferences and they're shown indoors on a stage just like anywhere else

Thatguy-3104015d ago

This question has come up why? Because of Nintendo lol To me it hasn't. Each year has its fare share of things to go psyched for. Last year The Last of Us blew away the competition and the watch dogs presentation did too. Yea bigger announcements aren't made but this year that's about to change. Think the reason it hasn't been that relevant as it once was is because of the longevity of this console cycle. New consoles should refresh the event.

And now suddenly the relevance of E3 is questioned? Wow I did not see that coming! /s

--Onilink--4015d ago

it has been questioned for quite a while now, to the point that a couple of years ago they tried to change the format but it didnt really work out(for many reasons, not just being smaller)

It was simply brought up AGAIN because of what nintendo did

And its not like Nintendo is questioning the relevance of E3 as a whole, its just for the actual conference

badz1494015d ago

It was not received well by the masses and it went back to be a conference everyone can attend like what it is now. I didn't say that Nintendo is questioning the relevance of E3 as this article is not from Nintendo.

Aside from those always visiting gaming or tech sites, most of the others aren't in the know of the latest things in gaming. Be it totally new stuff of announced stuff, E3 has always been a great venue anticipated by many all around the world. The number of visitors and people watching the live stream is through the roof every year which makes this questioning of its relevance somewhat dumb and to some extend, fanboyish! I don't think that it's a coincidence that right after Nintendo said that they will not organize a press conference this year, this kind of article appeared out of nowhere.

Sure, Sony did organize thier own event for the PS4 announcement and MS is going to do it too comes this May 21st but that doesn't mean that suddenly E3 is irrelevant. These separate events are actually a built up to what expected to be the best E3 in years! Personally, with the high possibility of the actual PS4 and next XBox consoles to be shown his year, I couldn't have asked for more. Sony is sure to come with their arsenal of games and MS is also expected to bring a great show...my anticipation level is already there with the Mars Rover! Of course there will be leaks right before the actual event but that never in the slightest decrease the level of excitement I have for E3! Believe me....this year will be SPECIAL!

E3 isn't losing importance because its still one of the biggest gaming event shows

JoGam4015d ago

Honestly I like when companies do their own thing. Kinda like what Sony did Feb 22nd. That was awesome.

Bathyj4015d ago

This years E3 should be the biggest in along time, for obvious reasons. Sony and MS will have a lot to show.

armycore4015d ago

Um no. Just like CES, San Diego Comic Con, and other major industry events, it is of utmost importance to game companies to be there. Hell companies that can't afford booths still show up there with laptops in hotels to show off their games because that's where it needs to be seen.
