Borderlands 2’s legendary loot drop-rate to be decreased in an upcoming update

Yesterday, the drop-rates of legendary items in the game’s newly added Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode was severely lowered. Gearbox Software’s community manager responded earlier today that the loot tables are currently being worked on but this code wasn’t meant to go live yet. As such, the lowered drop-rates has since been removed from the game. Gearbox's official statement follows. "We’re always looking at balance tweaks on our internal server. Unfortunately a test string went live before it was ready and has since been pulled down."

This seems to imply while the code that lowered the change of finding legendary gear from Loot Midgets inside “Borderlands 2” might have been an accident for now, it seems that the developer is currently testing and looking at a permanent lowered change to find decent gear.

Decreased?
What are they stupid?
Increase them dont decrease them

admiralvic4012d ago

Clearly they're, since this will ONLY motivate people to hack / dupe items.

showtimefolks4012d ago

about to be done with all dlc and max level yet i haven't come across a legendary item

so maybe i am doing something wrong but they should be increasing not decreasing

the 1st borderlands had much better loot when it came to weapons

BiggCMan4012d ago

Not for the pearl weapons in the 3rd DLC, HA! There are only 12, and I have been lucky to find 4 of them. The orange weapons in BL2 are pretty easy to get though, you just have to know which bosses drop them. I have not yet played the newer DLC's to find out how hard it is to get Sephia and the new Pearl weapons.

admiralvic4012d ago

They're fairly uncommon, though there are of course ways to get them faster. Like they say The Warrior always drops a legendary item when you kill him during the story (sometimes it falls into the lava), so there is that. They're pretty much something you won't find if you're not actively looking for them.

@ BiggCMan

Seraph weapons mostly come from shops, so they're a simple matter of farming raid bosses to afford them. Ultimate Vault Hunter mode makes some drop only, though I hear they drop fairly often. Pearl weapons are are less common than Legendary, but quite easy to farm with the right tech. Ancient E-Tech relics are also pretty common.

I think I might be done now. Just silly decisions. And now with one of the bigger problems people spoke out about, they go the complete opposite direction. lol don't even know what to think. This isn't even a competitive game. Its coop.

The original game's loot gave me much more of a sense of reward. I could get online and invite a couple friends to my game and we knew that by the time we were done playing for the day we would have found at least one weapon/shield superior to the one which we were using when we started. That kept us going back to Borderlands long after the final DLC was released.
In Borderlands 2, we went days without finding an item that was substantially better than one we currently had equipped. I put the game in and play off and on for about a week each time new content is released, but I'm the only one in my group of friends that has played the game since the first DLC was released.

For someone who only plays single player this is annoying considering I have only 1 orange shield and 1 orange weapon. Both are pretty crappy too...

@snipb8t
Same here. This game just isnt geared to us single player types but Ive played practically nothing else on my PS3 since launch. Its been a lot of fun though. Just found Jimmy Jenkins and Im so close to platinum, then its GAME OVER.

Borderlands 4 And Tiny Tina's Wonderlands 2 Leaked

Multiple future Gearbox Software projects, including Borderlands 4 and Tiny Tina's Wonderlands 2 have been spotted.

Kaii150d ago

Hopefully, they fired the entire writing team after B3 cause that dialogue was truly atrocious.

jeromeface149d ago

doubtful... this is gearbox we're talking about.. Randy thinks everything the studio does is gold because he has a bad concept of reality

DrDoomer149d ago

FFS make something else. If you can't make anything new, at least bring back Brothers In Arms or something.

-Foxtrot149d ago

I know it will never happen (for obvious story reasons that's happened) but I wish we could play the original Vault hunters again with new abilities you could choose to develop in a skill branch. Never really felt I could get behind most of them after the first game, especially move wise. Lilith's phase walk will always be the best to me.

Speaking of Lilith, I'm kind of wondering how they'll get around the whole Siren thing since they wrote themselves into a corner saying there's "only 6 Sirens in the entire universe" and now thanks to Borderlines 3 they apparently pass on their abilities meaning once we see each of 6 powers available that's it, no new brand new ones. I don't know why they don't just say there's more than 6 since all of them in the ENTIRE Universe just conveniently coming to Pandora is a bit strange.

BrainSyphoned149d ago

That's super easy to get around. Each person that has the skill could have their own personal spin on it. There could be a new power that morphs them into something else. One of the weapon manufacturers could experiment on 5 of the Sirens and the 6th would have to fight a horde of siren powered bad guys to rescue the others. Fiction has been there and done that with power more complex or simple thousands of times before.

As for revisting the first game? That would be totally unlike the gaming industry to reboot a series...

The Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak from the Gran Turismo series

Nissan Skyline from Need for Speed Underground

Motorcycle Steamroller from Dead Rising 3

And finally a car you never drive but saves your ass over and over : Honey Badger from COD MW2

Gardenia459d ago

I was thinking of Mad Max. That V8 felt really good to drive around in, especially with upgrades.

dumahim459d ago

No one liked the Batmobile in Arkham Knight. Top 10?

toxic-inferno459d ago

I don't know... It was a strange addition to the game, and the parts of the game where you had to fight in it were tedious. But driving it around Gotham felt brilliant.
