WWE 2K14 Story Mode, Free Roaming, Choose your path

"For the past few years the traditional Story mode and/or Season mode have been put aside in favour of the “Road To Wrestlemania Mode” and recently “The Atittude Era mode” in WWE video games and with that most of the freedom, options and the old free roam style of the Smackdown games were traded in for voice overs and more cut scenes in a much more linear mode. With that said the WWE 2K14 story mode could benefit from the style of Just Bring it, Shut Your Mouth or even Here comes the pain with options where you can chose which path you want to go in, what championships you’d like to chase after and such." What the f*** at Punks face..It looks nothing like him.

Ah never mind thats a CAW with WWE 13 gameplay :/..

Blaze9294012d ago

you know I almost forgot THQ was no more. So 2K Sports picked this up eh? Did they also get the UFC series? Very interested to see how they will handle wrestling.

TheUndertaker854012d ago

EA bought the rights to the UFC games from THQ. The studio that made the UFC titles was also closed shortly after.

Blaze9294012d ago

aw man, EA? We all know how they are holding rights to sports games...

thanks for the info

TheUndertaker854012d ago

Why are people speculating? THQ was already working on WWE '14 and '15 with the launch of '13. '15 is set for next gen consoles. 2K probably won't drop that work to start fresh on a new product, meaning the product you're going to get will be from THQ, not 2K. Look for a full 2K WWE product with WWE '16.

SlavisH24012d ago (Edited 4012d ago )

you have a link or are you just going to pull more info out of your @$$?

TheUndertaker854012d ago

Instead of wasting time you could've looked it up in hopes I was wrong. Hell, you can find the same stories here on N4G too.

"The companies said at the time that Yuke's, the Japanese studio behind THQ's WWE games, will pick up where it left off on developing its 2013 WWE title. Take-Two has hired the THQ Fight Team, the internal group that managed development and marketing of the WWE series; that team will report to 2K Sports' design team at Visual Concepts, the 2K-owned studio behind the company's NBA 2K and MLB 2K franchises."

If that's not enough my damn name is wrestling affiliated... How much do you think I follow news of the games and the show?

rocky0475864012d ago

I would say that '15 will have a lot more input from 2K than '14 for sure. But '16 and on will be FULL 2K games, you're right. I can't wait.

I was always partial to the arcade wrestling games like Saturday night slam masters, wwf superstars, wrestlefest, wrestlemania, wrestle war and then a NES classic... pro wrestling. By the time the N64 era of wrestling games happened, I wasnt into wrestling much anymore (tv & games).

jjb1981819d ago

It was all about the Starman Somersault or the Tiger Claw!

Fist4achin819d ago

Starman was awesome. I also remember a tan dude with bright yellow hair. Good times!

Are Wrestling Games Getting Worse?

Some of you may know that the latest instalment in the WWE gaming franchise 2K20 was released late last year to generally poor reviews. Some of this was based on graphical issues, but mostly it was due to the many glitches and bugs found – many of which are hilarious to witness.

Fire Pro needs more love. The last PS4 title gets regular playtime from me.

I hear that there are financial troubles at the studio, but I'm hopeful for a Switch port one of these days.

The Wood1553d ago

Anyone remember Giant Gram Wrestling on the Dreamcast .....

Rambokind1553d ago

Ah hell yes! That was loads of fun.

Acecalibur1553d ago

Fire Pro just gets better. Buy it.

micdagoat191553d ago

I have Fire Pro for PS4 and PC but it seems more of like a Sim creator rather than people actually playing out matches. I still dont like anything as much as the N64 games

b163o11552d ago (Edited 1552d ago )

Golden Era of wrestling games in the Golden Era of wrestling. I've been contemplating going back and getting a N64 and getting those classic's
WWF Wrestlemania 2000

micdagoat191549d ago

Yeah its the only wrestling games I still play consistently for fun.

TheTony3161553d ago

addictedtochaos1553d ago

Yes, the WWE ones at least. The last good one was 2K14 and the last great one was Here Comes the Pain.
