I located and talked with Roger Vega, the California collector who learned he is the owner of one of two Sega Pluto prototypes

I'd hang on to that, a lot of collectors will want it, but if you are a true collector you keep it, very rare items can help make a collection.

I myself have been collecting since the 2600. I particularly like finding variants. Not many know that while the outside may be similar, there can be several changes under the hood that makes each version just slightly different.

I have 4 variants of the original PS1 and 2 of the PSOne but the most variants i have of a single platform would be the Genesis. From the original model 1 to the model 3 I have about 8 variants that were officially released.

Collecting can be fun but man can it be taxing on the nerves looking for those hidden gems. A very good buddy of mine (who is even more hardcore collector than I) had at one time the M2 prototype and sold it to another guy on Assembler. He feels like that was a bad move now as it is probably worth way more than what he sold it for.

I'm gonna start shopping around thrift stores again; and I remember in a Sega Visions magazine back in the mid 90's when they talked about the Pluto.

Between this and the rare NES game at Goodwill story, I'm sure gamers will start visiting these kinds of places even more. For good reason, though. It's cool seeing a rare game for a great price.

I remember an older NES I found under $10 however they didn't accept credit cards, and when I went back, someone else bought it - within 5 minutes.

It's all random chance and dumb luck. Like I recently got a copy of GoW A for $17.97 at Target.

What a lucky guy! I never really found anything of much value at flea markets or thrift stores, then again I never really tried.

I can only imagine what a thrill it is to buy something so cheap and valuable to the collectors, only to find out what its truly worth.

I should allocate some free time during the weekends just to walk around and see if I can find any of these precious gems that has been lost through in time.
