Update on the PS3′s “Remote Download Feature” Expected “Very Soon,” Long-Term EU PS+ Games Changing

Even though there was some interesting results reported on the EU PS Blog about the Instant Game Collection poll they held back in February (the RPG and Action/Adventure genres received roughly 17,000 votes each of the 73,000 votes cast), there was some more interesting news in the comments.

I hope they change in North America too.

Wedge194020d ago

Yeah, They've been on there for nearly a year. Although they'll likely change to big games that most people have already bought. Hence why they are big games.

violents4019d ago

I know what you mean, it feels like the big games they put up are older games that have hit thier sales marks already and newer games are like a bonus to get people exposed to some other genres they normally wouldn't have looked at. Good marketing, bring in new customers with older heavy hitter games and expose your current customers to more obscure titles so mabey they buy dlc or the next franchise installment.

Thirty3Three4020d ago

Trendy, why are you getting disagrees for that?!

Sounds like a lotta N4G-ers have prejudices against America.

Meh. I don't care what they say. I love my country.

TrendyGamers4020d ago

:(

I just meant that I'd like to see some of the games that have been free for a year change to something new.

When is sony going to fix the PSN Store? Since they updated it the loading times have doubled. The UI is atrocious.

Ducky4020d ago

That's why I just use the web store to browse/buy items.

Only time I actually go there with the PS3 is to download something I already own.
It's not that bad overall.

Conzul4020d ago

The store would be fine if it were silky-smooth and fast. There's nothing wrong with the UI.
Unfortunately, it's not fast on PS3.

despair4019d ago

Searching sucks and sorting new content is more tedious than it can be even if it wasn't slow as hell. I mean I can only sort by one category and its annoying.

I want to go to the store and check latest releases without having to trudge through 100 songs/dlc/themes or random crap all listed individually until finally reaching vids, demos and games.

Brian1rr4020d ago

My downloads are actually faster since update maybe you need better internet connection

Oh_Yeah4020d ago (Edited 4020d ago )

He said nothing about download times...don't be a turd. He's talking about loading times of the store in general, it's cumbersome/poorly designed.

quick question:

Once Sony remove these titles (InFamous 2, LBG2 and Motorstorm Apocalypse) from the Instant Game Collection, would I still be able to play them if I have them downloaded to my PS3 and still have a PS+ subscription?

@mac_sparrow: good to hear, thanks man! I've only been a member for a month, ever since I got my PS3 and started gaming full-time again, so I had no clue if I'd be able to keep playing them if they weren't available on the IGC anymore. Good thing I have a 500GB HDD :D

mac_sparrow4020d ago

Yup, you'll also get access to more titles. Win, win.

Salooh4020d ago

If your subscription ended, all the games you put in your download list will stay(No need to download and cancel like what some people do) but you won't be able to play them until you renew. So put all ps+ games in your download list. You may play them one day.

HyperBear4020d ago

Don't all of my games I download through the PS Store/PSN go into my download list automatically? When I log into my PSN account on the internet, it shows everything I've downloaded through the network and if it's a game, trailer, demo, etc and on what day.

Or is there another download list I'm missing?

Salooh4020d ago (Edited 4020d ago )

A lots of people think downloading is what makes the games go to download list . You just need to put them in the cart then purchase them then it go to download list.

I don't like to download what i don't use so i can have space when i need it. Just wanted to make it clear and easy so you don't need to go out the store and go cancel or stop what you won't download in that moment :). Always put ps+ games in download list even if you don't want to download them..

BitbyDeath4020d ago

@HyperBear, I don't have a Vita yet but i've still been adding those games to my queue incase the day arrives that I get one. Soon as you grab them they become listed as 'purchased'. And you can choose to download them whenever you want.

Looking Back At 2008, An Unbelievably Incredible Year Of Video Game Releases

Huzaifa from eXputer: "2008 was home to the likes of Call of Duty: World at War, Dead Space, GTA 4, Far Cry 2, Left 4 Dead, and many other hits, which is outright remarkable."

CrimsonWing6953m ago

I don’t think anything can compare to 2023

lucasnooker40m ago

1998 - the best year in gaming! Metal gear solid, crash bandicoot 3, medievil, half life, ocarina of time, thief, tenchu, resident evil 2, Spyro, tomb raider 3, oddworld abes exodus, banjo kazooie.

It was a different breed of a gaming era. You’ll never understand what it was like back then. The aura of gaming, it was different!

KyRo30m ago(Edited 28m ago)

I second this. Gaming was a lot more varied and fun than it is today. I'm 35 so getting on compared to some here but I got to see all the changes from NES up to now but I've never felt so disappointed in any generation than I have this current gen. I was expecting more from this generation rather than prettier versions of games that came before it. Game mechanics have become so refined that alot of games feel the same and has done for a while now.

Maybe it's time to have a break for a while. I love gaming but I don't feel I get much fun in the traditional sense out of it anymore.

CrimsonWing6920m ago(Edited 19m ago)

Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil 2, Abe’s Exodus, and Ocarina of Time are the only things from that list that I liked.

Here’s the 2023 game releases that I personally liked… and big releases that I didn’t care for:

- Dead Space Remake
- Wo Long Dynatsy
- Resident Evil 4 Remake
- Diablo 4
- Fire Emblem Engage
- Hogwarts Legcay
- Street Fighter 6
- Hi-Fi Rush
- Like a Dragon: Ishin
- Octopath Traveler 2
- Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters
- Final Fanatsy XVI (actually ended up not liking this, but it was still a big deal release)
- Baldur’s Gate 3
- Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon
- Lies of P
- Mortal Kombat 1
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
- Starfield (Ended up hating this one, but big release)
- Super Mario Bros. Wonder
- Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (I’m an old-school Zelda fan, but didn’t really enjoy this game)
- Alan Wake 2

I mean, honestly I’ve never seen a year of major IP releases like that, ever.

6 Fun Games Where You Actually Play As The Bad Guy

While the mainstream media always sees things turning in favor of the hero, here are 6 games that own being a bad guy.

Profchaos6h ago

Pretty much all of these games listed are based around a morality system you don't have to be bad and you don't have to be good.

It seems to have left out some real amazing games like red dead redemption 1/2,ass effect and true crime la/ny

Tacoboto5h ago

Armored Core VI?

Ok, I'm really missing something here. Just beat chapter 3 earlier this evening, unlocked A-rank Arena fights. I'm not seeing or sensing any branching paths or morality system and I've done every side mission and arena fight available to me up to that fight.

Is something big coming soon to branch the story?

banger885h ago

No mention of Grand Theft Auto? Saints Row (original trilogy), Manhunt? Also The Suffering (depending on the ending you get).

I never got around to mass effect - I’m skeptical that it would hold up if I were to try it now

Furesis22h ago

I would say it does. The combat is a bit shit for todays standards but everything else is great.

It's worth a play through today.
