so ps4 gets the best console version. sweet, but ubisoft, dont mess it up with always connected PLEASE

Root4016d ago

Hopefully not....I don't want arseholes invading my game and messing around.

nix4016d ago (Edited 4016d ago )

"Always Online" is exactly what the "Watch Dogs" stands for...

Irony.

PeaSFor4016d ago

i want assholes to invade my games, they will end up like the derpy players who invade my demons souls world.

its a cool feature and i totally want it in watchdogs.

Root4016d ago

Yeah but they shouldn't force us to use it....if there isn't a button to turn it off without ruining other online features then it's silly.

Developers shouldn't force us to do anything

NegativeCreepWA4016d ago

No ones forcing you to play their game. If its a key element of the game deal with it or don't play it.

Root4016d ago

@NegativeCreepWA

It's not the bloody point, the game looks amazing I just don't want to be forced with a feature that will ruin the game for me....hell not just me I bet theres a load of people out there who wouldn't want this. A nice single player experience, if you want to add your friends in the game then fine but don't force people to game with stragers.

It's called choice....god no wonder games get tacked on online features with people like you around, the "deal with it" attitude.

NegativeCreepWA4016d ago (Edited 4016d ago )

If you want to play single player, buy a single player game. If a developer wants to add a multi-player aspect as a key feature to the experience, they should be allowed to do so.

Sorry, but people like myself allow devs to make the games they want to make, not what I think they should make, or expect them to cater my needs. I enjoy both single player and multi-player games and I prefer to experience a game the way it was intended be. You're the type off person that would play Demon Souls offline and take away half the experience.

People like you kill innovation for your own selfish desires.

Dee_914016d ago (Edited 4016d ago )

How the h3ll does making an feature optional kills innovation ?
Do you know what innovation means?
It sure as hell doesn't mean removing or not implementing options, thats the complete opposite.
Better question, since when did wanting options become " selfish desire"?
No game should require an internet connection, point blank. Thats like taking 2 steps forward by implementing online and 3 steps back by making it an requirement. Its beyond stupid and not innovative at all

You can enjoy required internet all you want but dont try to argue that its innovative or a good feature because the negative FAR out weighs the positive

nveenio4015d ago

You have a point. Developers can make their game however they want. If people don't like it, no one has a gun to their heads, so they don't have to play it. Better yet, when you refuse to buy a game with features you loathe, you discourage other developers from making the same "mistakes". Developers and consumers work hand-in-hand with how the future of games plays out.

gedapeleda4015d ago

>mfw people already complain about a feature that they haven't experienced.I bet you can cut it off easily if you don't want it.

DazeLokrotan4015d ago

lol at these people baawing to those who simply want an option to deactivate the online functions.

I mean seriously; you had to go as far as telling people not to buy it when the simple solution is to allow us to make a choice? keyboard warriors is what you are though unfortunately, the 'warrior' trait is restricted to the 'keyboard' and not IRL where it truly matters.

Jek_Porkins4016d ago

Actually they don't mention the next Xbox version, which will probably be identical. They say the PS4 version will be better then the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, and rightly so, but I wouldn't expect it to be any different then the next Xbox version.

I wholeheartedly agree with you on DRM though, if they force an online connection I'll skip it.

FarCryLover1824016d ago

I cannot wait until Watch Dogs. I'm fine with the campaign having multiplayer components (those of which we do not know yet), but if I have to be online for a game that is purely single player, then no thanks.

I'm ok though with typing a code to confirm my purchase though, kind of like with Steam, where you type in the code and can play offline.

But, I'd rather bypass all of that since it's a console.

generic-user-name4016d ago

Watch Dogs will make use of the PS4's touchpad, an example given was that it will be used to control his phone. Little things like that might make it the better version although 720 might have some other features that we don't yet know about.

jcnba284016d ago (Edited 4016d ago )

I doubt it will be better than the Wii U version.

humbleopinion4015d ago

With what they plan for Watchdogs it seems to me that playing offline will only offer fraction of the experience. I still want the capability to play when the internet is out, but they seem to take online interaction to a new height and build on top of what was good in games like Journey and Dark Souls and Red Dead Redemption with the rockstar club thingy. It doesn't feel like the forced always-online of games like diablo and simcity.

tentonsoftube wrote,
"so ps4 gets the best console version."

It doesn't exactly say the PS4 version is the best console version. Here is what they said,

“When the PS4 showed up it did bring new possibilities to improve graphics and every AI systems we have. But in the same way we did for four years already, we will continue to look beyond what is possible to achieve in order to bring this little something extra out there for players to enjoy. So expect more AI behaviors, more realistic consequences to your actions and an overall improvement in visuals realization. Our team has been working on this very complex ecosystem for more than four years now; this is what is required to build such an intricate set of AI systems.”

“What the new machine brings is new processing power and memory to run these things, but the biggest investment is always the time and the quality of the resources required to pull it off. So not only does the next generation bring more possibilities, but it also brings new challenges that we believe are extremely exciting from both a player’s and a developer’s perspective.”

Nothing about that suggests they can't or won't do the same thing on the next Xbox. Right now there is still a embargo from developers to actually speak about the next Xbox. Do we really need to start the next console wars this early?

LOGICWINS4016d ago

@Root- I think thats the point. It makes the gameplay dynamic. You'll encounter hackers that want to impede your progress, but on the flip side is that you'll also find people who will want to work with you towards a common goal. Either way, gamers should get to choose if they want this added online functionality.

ps3_pwns4016d ago

if its always online then im not getting it. i allow developers aa choice to make cool things but i want them to make things i like or they dont get my money.

LOGICWINS4016d ago

@Jek_Porkins- The 720 version hasn't been mentioned probably due to some exclusive functionality with the 720 in regards to Kinect or Smartglass support.

TheKayle14016d ago

no man ..he is just talking about the only official next gen console ...

ubisoft game? well will run better on xbox for sure

as every ubisoft game

@sly you tried so hard to be funny, dint work out though.

My_Name_BTW_Is_Dante4016d ago (Edited 4016d ago )

Why would you not want to play Watch Dogs when connected to the internet? That will likely be the best thing about the game considering it looks like other people can join your game to hunt you down or help you. It's like Demon's Souls in a way. That game was best played while always connected (unless you tried to "cheat" by disconnecting so you could fight an easier/AI Old Monk boss or something).

shutUpAndTakeMyMoney4016d ago

The iphone version will have no drm. So win!!

Jumper094016d ago

same will be for the Xbox next version. I cant imagine the horrible versions for 360 and PS3 lol

_-EDMIX-_4016d ago

Many people need to take this into consideration.......Watchdogs was said to be a next gen IP and started as a next gen game NOT a PS3 or 360 game.

To date we haven't seen a PS3 or 360 version of this game.....quite telling indeed. Only seen it running on PS4 and a high end PC.

Same can be said about Destiny. Though it was shown a week before PS4 was announced, its quite clear all the footage is PS4 or 720 next gen footage.

Very...very telling. These are not current gen games with next gen ports people.

solar4016d ago

best version of the gimped version. ps4 gamers rejoice!

clrlite4016d ago (Edited 4016d ago )

To me it is simple. If it is "always connected" I probably will not buy it. This goes mostly for single player games. Though we will likely see some games with some kind of gimmick added to justify that nonsense. Actually, this may be one of those games.

Legion4015d ago

Where did it say that PS4 gets the best console version? As you notice they haven't said anything about the XBOX 720.

That is because they aren't able to talk about the 720 yet. So speculate all you want but I bet money that the 720 will come out ahead. Less issues to deal with and running on Windows 8. So easy for them to take PC work and integrate it into the 720.

As soon as they are allowed to talk on the 720 then you can hate on 'Watch Dogs' the same way you hated on other multi-console titles that were better on 360 in the past.

Save this link so you can come back to it and mark my words.

Morin: he said that “Both the E3 demo and the PS4 conference demo were played in real-time.”
Awesome

LOGICWINS4016d ago

The E3 demo was running in real time...but on a high end PC. Not the PS4/720. Visually, what we saw at Sony's conference two months ago didn't reach the graphical fidelity of what we saw at E3.

http://www.destructoid.com/...

Tyre4016d ago (Edited 4016d ago )

@LOGICWINS There is no difference in graphics.
In fact the water (in the canals) looks miles better in the PS4 demo than the prior E3 PC version (it was kinda dark in the E3 demo and graphics always seem to look better when things are darker).
With these specs on PS4 and PC at the moment the game will be EXACTLY the same in most parts.
According to the DEVELOPER himself it will be somewhat better in certain areas on PS4.
He knows what they have done and what is possible. your're trying to say he doesn't know what he is saying?
Stop being so childish. You know better.

_-EDMIX-_4016d ago

yeah Logic I have to say that sounds...pretty dmub.

Your not talking into consideration that Ubisoft is not the greatest PC developer, also we didn't even see that much PS4 footage, the game is clearly at a more finished build, I can't see why the PS4 version would look worse. Ubisoft is not making a version "better" or anything like that...they are a 3rd party developer. They are looking to get it sold on ALL systems. (PS3 and 360 version don't count on that, they will look less good by default because of tech)

"didn't reach the graphical fidelity of what we saw at E3"....um you mean what "you" saw. I never even heard once taht Watchdogs even looked less good on PS4 LOL! PS4 and 720 are the target systems, its likly they had the PC version running on those type of specs.

Monkeysmarts4016d ago

Yes but the E3 demo was running on a high spec PC and for whatever it's worth, what they showed at the PS4 event looked indistinguishable (even though it wasn't running on a final spec PS4). We haven't seen the current gen console version yet, I hope people don't think the PS3/360 versions will look as good as what we've seen.

LOGICWINS4016d ago (Edited 4016d ago )

"what they showed at the PS4 event looked indistinguishable (even though it wasn't running on a final spec PS4)"

Disagree completely.

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

Compare the lighting and weather effects. The difference is rather clear. Even more clear we you look at 6:30 onwards in the E3 demo. The weather effects we're COMPLETELY ignored for the PS4 demo for a reason. The difference would have been too apparent and Ubi knew people we're going to make direct comparisons with the PC/PS4 versions(with the PC being the clear winner). They didn't want console gamers to feel like they we're being shortchanged. Perfectly understandable.

The PS4 version doesn't look "bad" by any means, but what we saw at E3 was more technically proficient.

Even if what you said we're true and both version were indistinguishable from each other, you think the PC version hasn't been significantly improved in the past 10-11 months?

EDIT: Also, examine the contrast on both versions. The colors are CLEARLY more washed out on the PS4 version while the PC version's colors look much more vibrant(compare 1:53 on the E3 demo to 4:55 on the PS4 demo). As I said, there is a clear difference.

sourav934016d ago

@LOGINWINS The thing is, the PC demo was during a completely different time in the game showing nighttime and rain effects, which were not present PS4 demo. So we can't make direct comparisons as of yet. Of course with the final version, I won't be surprised if the PC version has a slight edge, with it being the lead platform, and the devs having comparatively little experience at developing for the PS4. But from what I've seen from the PS4 demo, and from the beginning of the E3 PC demo, they looked VERY similar.

LOGICWINS4016d ago (Edited 4016d ago )

"The thing is, the PC demo was during a completely different time in the game showing nighttime and rain effects, which were not present PS4 demo. So we can't make direct comparisons as of yet."

I pretty much answered all of this above.

"But from what I've seen from the PS4 demo, and from the beginning of the E3 PC demo, they looked VERY similar."

Yeah, the PS4 versions and PC versions will look similar. Just like the PS3 version will look similar to the PS4 version. We are dealing with the same environments/color palette etc. So of course, the PS4/720/PC/PS3 versions will look "similar".

Still, if you look at the videos above. Anyone with eyes and an open mind can see differences.

Ubisoft's goal at the PS4 presser was to do everything possible for people NOT to see those differences. But they do exist.

To your credit, even if we can't directly compare weather/rain effects, you have to admit that the PS4 version's colors lack the vibrancy of the PC version.

I understand this is a launch title and its not supposed to be a title that can go head on with its PC counterpart, but it does discourage me from buying this game at launch.

From what I've seen in Killzone: Shadow Fall and Drive Club, the PS4 is capable of so much more. Multiplatform devs need to step their game up.

GribbleGrunger4016d ago (Edited 4016d ago )

'To your credit, even if we can't directly compare weather/rain effects, you have to admit that the PS4 version's colors lack the vibrancy of the PC version.'

The Playstation Meeting playthrough was on a PC, not the PS4. They didn't want to drag along the dev kit ... Ubisoft's words not mine. Can't find the link where they say that but here's confirmation of it running on a PC.

http://www.dsogaming.com/ne...

I didn't see any differences myself to be honest. I saw heavier rain and a different time of day that lent the scene a more colourful hue, but I didn't see any graphical differences. Then you have to take into consideration that one is a video and the other is a video of a live playthrough, which is never going to quite have the clarity of the original E3 demo.

LOGICWINS4016d ago

"The Playstation Meeting playthrough was on a PC, not the PS4. They didn't want to rag along the dev kit ... Ubisoft's words not mine."

Whaaaat? So, that means we haven't seen any footage of the PS4 version yet? I would like to know what I'm going to be spending my money on in October. Surely we'll see something at E3 I hope.

GribbleGrunger4016d ago (Edited 4016d ago )

Well considering you are in an article stating the 'improvement(S)' the PS4 brings to the game, it's probably likely it will look better than any of the footage we've seen so far.

Sevir4016d ago

Another interesting fact is that Ubisoft said they didn't receive PS4 devkits till Dec 2012 and they weren't even equipped with the 8gigs of GDDR5 that was announced at the event. I'll go look for the link that confirms this. But it leads me to believe that Ubisoft and many other devs didn't have a console demonstration to show off so they edited the HUD of the PC footage to display PS buttons during the meeting. And what was shown is Running on the PC in both instances, and to me are indistinguishable from each other besides weather effects not being shown.

BitbyDeath4016d ago

PS4 is going to have playable games at E3 so no doubt this will be one of the games available to play.

http://www.polygon.com/2013...

LOGICWINS4016d ago

@Gribble- I hope your right

GribbleGrunger4015d ago

My worry isn't for the PS4, It's for the 720. We really need it to be as powerful as the PS4. Devs will nearly always pander to the lowest common denominator so any extra power will be pointless. It could be the other way around of course, but I've only got rumours to go on for the 720 and as of now it's the weaker system ... 'RUMOUR' wise anyway.

does it even really meter?
this game was the worse looking next gen game Sony showed.

This will have a good thrilling campaign, I can tell.. it will not be about the visuals who are far from amazing.
Plus this game is possible on the PS3, is not a next gen game but a port from last gen with some enhancements for next gen and PC .

PC been the main plataform? maybe since PC games never uses it highest common denominator.. so most can play it, even low end PC's and high end PC's like always can have better visuals and fps .

majiebeast4016d ago

This and Infamous second son have me hyped for next gen.

TrailerParkSupervisr4016d ago

Infamous more so. That IP is hands down my favorite this gen. Only series I have plats for all games (100% in festival of blood)

Jaqen_Hghar4016d ago

a man has all plats in GoW, Uncharted, Infamous, Ratchet and Clank, and Sly so he's ready for more of any of those on PS4! Though new IP would be great too.

If its always online, count me out. Their mention of always connected worries me, ALOT.

Watch Dogs Deserves A Remake, More Than Ever

With the world of information and technology, privacy and security growing every day, Watch Dogs deserves another chance in the spotlight, now more than ever.

RaidenBlack996d ago

The only Ubi title that deserves a faithful remake right now is Splinter Cell 1.
All 2014+ Ubi titles are just underwhelming. Especially ones from 2016+ are just cancer.

LucasRuinedChildhood996d ago (Edited 996d ago )

Seriously, are we so far removed from Ubisoft actually making good games that people now praise Watch_Dogs in retrospect?

"Watch_Dogs has remained one of my favourite games of the last ten years." Jesus Christ.

HankHill996d ago

I remember being so disappointed in Watch Dogs when I played it at release. It was alright, but I think I fell for the hype and I needed a game to play on my new PS4.

obidanshinobi996d ago

This is what happens when mediocrity gets praised as good.
Standards are slipping across the whole entertainment industry.
What was once considering rubbish is now considered as OK, what once was OK is now being praised as good etc etc.

LamerTamer995d ago

Everyone has their own likes. I liked it a lot myself. I played through it twice and liked the car chases and the open world with fairly decent environments and missions. It suffered from the whole downgrade thing where they showed graphics that weren't actually there. No game will appeal to everyone but it was still ambitious for it's time.

gantarat996d ago

assassin's creed 1 should get a remake.

ExBee996d ago

For certain! AC1 was brilliant at the time but with new graphics and gameplay it would be amazing! Do you prefer old combat or new though?

RaidenBlack996d ago

I'd say a reimagining of AC1.
I direct AC1 remake would be a bad idea. It'll need better story pacing and significant better world building.

BlaqMagiq1995d ago

Old. Let it play like how it did with AC2-Syndicate style gameplay but refine the setting and story.

Profchaos996d ago

It would need a lot changed for it to be enjoyable again as even back in 2007 on launch we were all complaining about it's repetitive gameplay go here perform one of three side quests repeat then assassination now do it over and over until a big battle with a unforgiving checkpoint system.

BlaqMagiq1995d ago

Absolutely. It needs it. The only AC I truly didn't enjoy.

chicken_in_the_corn995d ago

I'd prefer it didn't. Ubisoft would make it so bloated, it wouldn't be anywhere near the original

smolinsk996d ago (Edited 996d ago )

Absolutely, this watch dogs legion was terrible boring.

Profchaos996d ago (Edited 996d ago )

As a fan of the franchise legion was garbage and I regretted my purchase for the first time in the franchise the entire thing felt like an experiment in NPC behaviour and released without the writers input on what makes a good story.

I don't think I'm alone in that feeling though as wrench and Aiden are brought back and the campaign was rewritten to fit them.

I am tempted to buy the season pass to play it again with Aiden but fool me twice shame on me I'm waiting for a deep sale

camel_toad996d ago

Agreed. Despite the annoying hipness of the characters in part 2 I thought it was a really fun game. I was extremely disappointed and surprised at how many steps back they took with Legion. You'd think it was made by an entirely different team. Or was it?

It was just so devoid of fun.

LamerTamer995d ago

Honestly one of my biggest annoyances with Legion is that they took out the camera views for the driving. I mean the behind the car view that they stuck us with is near unplayable. I always used a first person driving view. After two releases why did they take OUT features? I don't get it.

TheSinsibleOne996d ago

The fist watchdog game was the best by far
After that they weren't weird and annoying with that hipster stuff. Aiden was a badass.

LamerTamer995d ago

I thought so at first too. I got used to it and it ended up being good after some play time. I just had to give it a chance.

Inside the Driver game that died so that Watch Dogs could live

From VG247: "When cars slide, they leave tyre marks. In a game like Driver, they’re an aesthetic touch, part of the inherent cool of a handbrake turn. But those dark shadows in the road also tell a story. From tyre marks, you can determine the speed of a vehicle, when it started to skid, and its ultimate direction of travel – long after the car itself has vanished into the distance."

vallencer1061d ago

IGiveHugs2NakedWomen1061d ago

Why did they stop making some of the best games ever? Driver was one of them.

Gameseeker_Frampt1060d ago

Assassins Creed 2 showed Ubisoft how to make money and Far Cry 2 showed them that gamers don't like complex ideas. Now Ubisoft just turns out games that are just variations of the same thing.

WeAreLegion1061d ago

Best driving mechanics ever made. Nothing has come close.

Gardenia1061d ago

A story driven game with pure driving gameplay. I'd love to see a new Driver game or a remake of the first one.

ApocalypseShadow1061d ago

Yes. This one. A definite remake of the first without adding any ridiculous fluff. The first game had great physics and sound for its time. The start of the car in the beginning cinema I watched constantly. My father and uncles were big muscle and classic car freaks. Only thing crazy about the game was the relentless cops in the last level. Insane the way those police cars were and launched at you.

Bleemcast made it look better just like PC emulators. But would definitely take a remake.
