While z is a good guess, i think nintendo has moved onto making sequels ala black and white 2. Part of the reason why the dna rumors are so strong are due to the japan version of the logo contains a dna symbol right in the name. With the return of the original dna created pokemon (mewtwo) almost confirms it for me.

I'm pretty sure X/Y are referring to the coordinate plane. Z goes along with this too. Makes sense since it is for the 3DS and the game has become much more 3D.

I also think that's why they are calling it also. The Pokemon games are great and it fun capturing every Pokemon, they won't just end them.

It's a smart move on Gamefreaks part to have the games titles have not one meaning but two (both 3D and Chromosomes) but i very much doubt that its the last game in the series being one of Nintendo's major franchises and all.

This person on Reddit has way too much time on their hands to contemplate such ridiculous ideas, but I'm even more disappointed in the person who believes these ideas enough to write a completely speculative article on them and submit it here.

One does not simply end a franchise that repeatedly sells 10 million+ copies..

It's not like they're terribly difficult/expensive to make and as long as Japanese people keep imagining new ways to draw monsters we should be good. Once Japanese imagination is a used up resource THEN I'll start worrying about the end.

And as for names they're not nearly out of possible titles!! There's still Alpha/Beta (Omega) ....Purple/ Orange(Pink)...Dusk/Dawn(Twili ght..and yes the cover pokemon will be a vampire)....Caucasian/African (Asian) ...Poop/Pee(Vomit)...and of course the ULTIMATE question...Boob/Ass(Ill let you decide what the the 3rd version should be.

No way they'll end the Pokemon series anytime soon. They sell far too well & they also help Nintendo sell tons of handheld units

This person would have a good point if the other 23 letters had been titles, or if Dragonball Z was the end of that franchise, but neither is.
