"UnderCurrent" bringing deep sea exploration to the Oculus Rift

If nothing else, the Oculus Rift looks like a great tool for getting a face full of atmospheric alien worlds. And what world could be more alien than the underwater portion of our own? It’s got it all: violence, oppressive tension, gross tentacle monsters. And that’s not even counting whatever the hell is going on with Anglerfish. Recognising the strange delights that lurk in the depths, a team of UK students are building a Rift supported under-the-sea exploration game, called UnderCurrent.

Seriously cant wait for a version of the rift with full 1080P, il buy it straight away...... i could just imagine ARMA 3, BF4 etc, first person driving sims and possibly even just general puzzle games........ wish the VR generation would hurry up!.

FlyingFoxy4022d ago (Edited 4022d ago )

Gotta make sure i keep up with a high end gfx card.. for 1080p you need to have them 60fps as often as possible, but if things are going to render in 3D then it's double the strain.. i hope Oculus Rift doesn't run as bad as when people use multi monitor setups.

That's fine. GT7 would overshadow it anyway at it has open wheel and regular cars.

Should have been spending their time updating Squadrons with better resolution, frame rate, haptics, etc as there isn't a game like that on PS VR 2 yet.

But it's EA. They don't think.

Babadook7348d ago

I agree. It would sell better on PSVR2 right now.

Knushwood Butt348d ago (Edited 348d ago )

A wasted opportunity, but I don't buy EA / Codemasters stuff anyway. Grid Legends just came out on Plus and I haven't touched it. Why would I when I have GT7 and PSVR2?

Abnor_Mal348d ago

Not into F1 racing, but still a missed opportunity.

ApocalypseShadow348d ago

That's where opportunity presents itself that they could offer something else that other developers haven't offered yet. Yeah. There's No Man's Sky. But a space game with a story would be great. Like the old days with Colony Wars.

Abnor_Mal348d ago

Exactly, they could have possibly lured more players just from the inclusion of a vr mode.

I miss Colony wars and G-Police, Low-Fi I hope will scratch that itch when it releases. We also need a vr War/Starhawk game.

Knushwood Butt348d ago

Just watched the trailer of Low-Fi. Most definitely on my radar.

Although I never owned an oculus, I played the demo for this at an electronics store. Pretty impressive in an early goings of VR title.
