The ten worst superhero games of all time

Digitally Downloaded writes: "There was a time when superheroes and comic book games were the stuff of legend for how amazingly, spectacularly, incredibly bad they were. I remember buying many a game with my favorite heroes plastered on the front only to be met with the bitter disappointment of how awfully terrible they all were."

i know everyone is going to disagree, but batman arkham city. asylum was astounding though imo

xXBlondieVanHarlowXx4015d ago

I'm not everyone but i disagree. Although i agree that Asylum was better. :D

I'll probably get tossed out of a moving train for saying this but i liked Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the imperfects. I also liked Superman 64 lol. I was 6 when i played it and i loved anything Superman so i was just happy to get the chance to play as him >_< I remember saying "One day they'll make an awesome Superman game",,,, still waiting.

SuicidalTendencies4015d ago

They will never make a good Superman game because the guy is practically invincible. It's kinda like using an infinite health code in another game. It's fun for a while but then you become bored. Superman games are pretty much like that but you can never turn off the code. They could dumb down his powers but then it wouldn't feel like Superman.

"LJN" -- the three worst letters known to man.

Donnieboi4015d ago (Edited 4015d ago )

SuperMan 64. I got it cheap at a local video store when I was 13 where I used to live. It was only 25 cents. I got it only because of how bad I heard it was. YES, it really IS that bad.

Also: Anyone remember that terrible Spawn: The Eternal game for PS1? Wow I remember giving my big sister all of my allowance so she could go buy it for me (since I was under-aged), and then when I played it I damned near ripped my hair out. Trash game.

Once you understand that the "fog" is actually kryptonite fog, then you start to realize that it is actually one of the greatest games ever created.

TheFirstClassic4015d ago

Lol that was just a dumb excuse used to justify the horrible draw distance. Awful game, and im ashamed to say me and my roommate beat the whole game. Couldn't have done it alone tho.

SonyStyled4015d ago (Edited 4015d ago )

I can tell this isnt an American article, cuz if it was it would include the xbox Burger King games

SuicidalTendencies4015d ago

Burger King guy isn't a superhero. What the hell are you talking about?

SonyStyled4015d ago

The King and Ronald are pretty much super heroes here in America. We love our burgers

ApolloTheBoss4015d ago

As a kid I actually thought Superman 64 was good. Man what was I smoking back then?

brich2334015d ago

I would like to know, i couldnt get past 10 second with that game.

TheFirstClassic4015d ago

I was actually fairly critical of games when i was younger. First game i ever played and beat was mario 64, so the bar was set pretty high.

I would love to see a true AAA game for the Watchmen.

SDuck926d ago

don't see that working outside of colab appearences in other games such as Injustice

sourOG926d ago

Nah a Rorschach narrated detective story would be dope.

Darkborn926d ago

IO interactive making a rorschach game after 007 would be interesting.

Knightofelemia926d ago (Edited 926d ago )

I'd be down for Invisible I enjoyed the cartoon I wouldn't mind at least seeing a new Mystery Men movie that could lead to a game. Or even give Kick Ass a game I though hits movies were pretty good Wild C.A.T.S would also be an interesting game.

Howard the Duck and Squirrel Girl team up

sourOG926d ago

I’d like to see a world breaker hulk vs the Illuminati game. Or army of darkness vs marvel zombies.

Superman Returns had potential and to me the best Superman game to date. Yet it lacked so many features like Superman music from John Williams , day and night cycles, Sidequests spaceflight, weather changes and much more. Take Returns foundation and expand to current gen and give slice of what Arkham did for Batman.

The Beauty Behind Licensed Shovelware

WTMG's Leo Faria: "Why do we do this? We are well aware that a specific licensed game isn’t good, yet we actually manage to be less critical, we manage to overlook its issues, and enjoy these tie-ins, these perfect definitions of the word “shovelware”, without an issue. What is it about these games that makes us more… tolerant? Is it the novelty of playing a game based on a license we like? Is it some kind of psychological effect that reminds us of simpler days? Does it mean that playing these games brings out the best version of the gamer inside of us?"
