CANNOT LIKE THIS ENOUGH! :D

CaptainCamper4018d ago

Read all the rumors. Was SO excited to see it confirmed for the West so quickly! :D

FamilyGuy4017d ago (Edited 4017d ago )

Needs to be confirmed for PS4.

Btw, this is that outsourcing thing Capcom was talking about. Having these guys make a Monster Hunter game rather than doing it themselves is costly.

Anyway, back to PS4 porting, I want it and it's already confirmed as free to play. Doesn't look very MMO like from the videos though, very few characters shown in single locations and all the battles look one-on-one, or four-on-one, they need bigger enemies for larger groups can tackle. Even groups of enemies, so far it's looking like all the other monster hunter games, just with better visuals. It needs to be more than just open world to call itself an MMO.

If it's like Frontier, then hunters will meet in the guild hall and launch quest in a group of up to 4 people.

Too many hunters in one area will be overpowered especially if they'll retain the status ailments from previous games. It's bad enough that 3 gunners can fully paralyze a Fatalis and a hammer guy wails on him... just imagine more than 4 people. I'd be the guy trying to TK with LBB+.

OH GOD I'M HAVING A SEIZURE!

HOLY SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT YES!!!!!

Abriael4018d ago

The story is misleading as it doesn't mention the source.

The announcement does not come from Tencent or capcom.

It's from a press release by Crytek and The quote comes from CryEengine Director of Business Development Areil Cai, as they announced that the game is made with Cryengine. While it mentions worldwide, it's not a 100% confirmation of a worldwide release, so it should be labeled a rumor.

CaptainCamper4018d ago (Edited 4018d ago )

Your logic is flawed. It's an official press release. 90% of emails regarding games come from a PR department, should they also all be labeled as a rumor? This is from an official source.

I have changed the title to reflect the source more obviously. But I still disagree that this is a rumor when it's from an official source closely related to the games development.

Edit: you're actually right, missed the last part. Withdrawing report, sorry about that. Jumped the gun.

DA_SHREDDER4018d ago

maybe cause it is coming out on next gen consoles as well? The fact the game uses cryengine makes it seem the obvious thing to do. Even if they are just ports, but they wont be due to the Cryengine.

Press release: Crytek’s groundbreaking CryENGINE® technology is being used to create Monster Hunter Online; a major new collaboration between Tencent Games and Capcom that will see the popular Monster Hunter series released internationally on Windows platforms for the first time.

As a PC-exclusive installment in the hit Monster Hunter franchise, Monster Hunter Online will give millions of new players the chance to experience the Japanese phenomenon. The MMORPG will contain Monster Hunter’s trademark blend of vast environments, awe-inspiring fantasy creatures and in-depth customization options.

“The Monster Hunter games are known for immersing players in breathtaking worlds where great gameplay and spectacular sights go hand in hand,” said Areil Cai, Director of Business Development - CryENGINE. “CryENGINE 3 is the perfect fit for the series, and will ensure Tencent Games and Capcom are well equipped to make Monster Hunter Online the groundbreaking MMORPG experience fans worldwide are eagerly anticipating.”

As well as being used in the creation of Monster Hunter Online, Tencent Games announced this week that Crytek’s CryENGINE 3 would also be utilized for the development of Legend of Yulong Platinum Edition – a new version of a popular Chinese MMORPG that will offer players an enhanced, more realistic visual experience. With long-standing experience of the global engine business and an enthusiastic gaming community of millions to serve, Tencent’s continued reliance on CryENGINE for high profile new projects is testament to the growing reputation of Crytek’s proprietary development software.

With over 20 million sales to date, Capcom’s Monster Hunter series enjoys huge popularity in Japan and boasts a growing army of followers around the globe. Monster Hunter Online will be developed for the international market by Tencent Games and Capcom, and marks an exciting new era for a series that has enjoyed critical praise to match its popularity with players.
----------------------------- ----------

Definition of internationally: Of, relating to, or involving two or more nations.

The press release does not say it will be released 'Worldwide' or 'In The West', it states that it will be released internationally (in 2 or more nations) this includes China and Japan. I would take the announcement with a pince of salt until they officially confirm it for the West. So far Capcom has not mentioned the game on any of their websites outside of Japan and China.

"Monster Hunter Online will be developed for the international market by Tencent Games and Capcom, and marks an exciting new era for a series that has enjoyed critical praise to match its popularity with players."

proof enough yet?

CaptainCamper4018d ago

Please read what I said carefully. According to your logic ONLY emails from developers and publishers are 100% legitimate.

However, most companies use PR groups to do their marketing so by your definition they would also be a rumor as they're not involved in development whatsoever.

The quote is in the article, as is its source. It's obvious this is purely because you're upset you didn't post it first. Then you attack my abilities to cover games on top of that?
