Prince of Persia Looking For ANOTHER Face-Lift, Why the Series Just Needs to Die.

VG Republic Writes: Prince of Persia is one of those games that has such a tried and true format that it never really seems to die. The franchise that has brought you seven titles to major home consoles may be looking to change the game once again. According to a post from NeoGAF, photos were found on the Climax Studio website and if it isn’t Prince of Persia then it is a seemly copy-cat like game that will be exactly the same but just a different title. You can take a peak below at the images that found their way around the internet today, but there is no mistaking that style of game that fits only that of the Prince of Persia lineage.

Idk I loved the first 2 two games. Never tried the remakes and really don't want to . Maybe this time the series will go back to its roots?

Based on the images, it looks amazing already. I hope this is true.

I loved 2008 Prince of Persia. The art style and the music were awesome. Too bad they ruined it with DLC ending which I heard it even ended with a cliffhanger. They could have improved upon that one a lot and have a masterpiece.

smashcrashbash4025d ago

So we just write it off because it looks like Prince of Persia? That is mature and thoughtful

MrBeatdown4025d ago

It's definitely Prince of Persia.

Take a look at the sword in the screenshots...

http://www.vgrepublic.com/w...

It's identical, right down to the smallest detail, to the sword from The Forgotten Sands...

He's also wearing a very similar outfit to the one he wears in The Two Thrones: http://upload.wikimedia.org...

Forgotten sands was an interquel- between The Sands of Time and Warrior Within, so perhaps this is an interquel between Warrior Within and The Two Thrones??

Prince of Persia doesn't need to go away, it's been in hiatus for a few years now. It needs a proper reboot. Kinda like how Tomb Raider got a reboot.

porkChop4025d ago (Edited 4025d ago )

I just want the series to be rebooted as a downloadable 2.5D platformer. More in-line with the originals, but still keeping some bits of modern design too.

WeAreLegion4025d ago

It's NOT Prince of Persia.

Also, I'd love a sequel to the 2008 POP. :( I loved it!

I didn't see anything about Destroy All Humans. I'd love to see that IP come back in some form.

Thatguy-3104142d ago (Edited 4142d ago )

Destroy All humans was a fun IP. It will be nice if it came back. Honestly I think Haze should get a reboot. That IP had a lot of potential. Maybe have GG work on it.

avengers19784142d ago

That was a fun game... it be great on vita.
I still want a new psi ops, with current consoles I think the game would be amazing.
I'm hoping one day that i will be able to get every game from ps1 and ps2 from the psn

UltraVegito4142d ago

The lack of legend of dragoon invalidates this list

Lord_Sloth4141d ago

Partially agreed but I kinda hate reboots on average. Especially when a sequel would do just fine.

Godmars2904142d ago (Edited 4142d ago )

Old list of most wanted is old - but still mostly wanted.

Prince of Persia and Silent Hill have both made appearances this gen however. Are broken.

guitarded774142d ago

I actually liked Downpour. It wasn't perfect by any means, but it didn't suck. Of the games on that list, Star Wars Battlefront is my most wanted. Damn shame what it's been through this gen with no release.

rainslacker4141d ago

While it wasn't a Sony IP, I wouldn't mind a Wing Commander game again. It's been a while since I've seen a good space shooter like it. It even did choices that affected game play long before ME did.

Unlimax4142d ago (Edited 4142d ago )

Again .. Parasite eve , Tenchu , Onimusha , Haunting Ground and Fatal frame not on the list !?

HarryMasonHerpderp4142d ago (Edited 4142d ago )

I love all of those games you listed there.

I would add Silent Hill (same as OPM)
Legacy Of Kain series, Legend Of Dragoon and Dino Crisis to your list.

Unlimax4141d ago

Those games you listed are a part of my childhood Why shouldn't i put them already .. Thanks for the heads up :]

New Prince of Persia was being shown at E3 2012 behind closed doors to British journalists

According to unconfirmed reports, the new Prince of Persia would be a new reboot of the franchise, held due to bad criticisms of The Forgotten Sands. The idea is to invest in the action, lending an air of the God of War franchise. The new game would be launched by the end of next year and was still in its early stages of development.

They better bloody not

Why reboot it...they didn't even wrap up the other game, they left it on a cliff hanger in the DLC which pointed to a sequel.

Jesus Christ...

It's like watching a TV series, getting really into it and then the network canceling it when it ends on a cliff hanger....just like FlashForward

Trenta274339d ago

REALLY? I was just about to finally finish up that show. Damn it...

----------------------------- -------------------

WTF?? Why not just make a sequel to the 2008 game then if the rushed movie tie-in Forgotten Sands wasn't well received?

Trenta274339d ago

Forgotten Sands was pretty damn good. Why they are rebooting it again I don't know. Oy...

ReservoirDog3164339d ago

Haha, honestly. It was such a creative platformer and the combat came together near the end. It goes for less than $15 nowadays and everyone should try it if they like platformers or the PS2 PoP games.

DivineAssault 4339d ago

PLEASE STOP WITH THE RUMORS ALREADY!! every1 was let down this year because of them

"The idea is to invest in the action, lending an air of the God of War franchise."

Like how Dante's Inferno failed to do so miserably? Please for the love of God, let it play/feel similar to the original trilogy. TSOT, WW, and, TT. One of the best trilogies I ever played. Almost up there with GOW for me. Just keep Prince of Persia as Prince of Persia. No need strip it of it's identity. If they're going to do that it might as well be a new IP.

Simon_Brezhnev4339d ago

Yeah i also feel like that was one of the best trilogies. I like how every game took a different approach. TSOS you had to parry. WW you had to run away lol. TT you could stealth your way. Basically Assassin's Creed is just the POP trilogy into one.

Prince of Persia versus Prince of Persia

This year saw the release of a new Prince of Persia game. It released around the same time as the Jake Gyllenhaal without a shirt on epic, but thankfully shares only the title with the movie. The character you play as in the Prince of Persia game kind of looks like Gyllenhaal, but the storyline has absolutely nothing to do with the film.

The game is kind of a strange release as it revisits a Prince of Persia storyline that was completed gracefully and effectively in 2005.

Hope there's a sequel to the 08 Cel-Shaded POP game. I didnt play the game for a challenge or story, I played it mainly for its harmonious visuals.

dorron5005d ago

I liked both PoPs and I'm waiting for a sequel to the 2008 version. The ending wasn't full and we don't know what happens next.

The article mentions the lack of death in the 2008 version compared to this years's but to be honest this years PoP is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooo easy you hardly ever die.
