Feature: Ten SEGA Mega Drive / Genesis Games We Want on the Wii U Virtual Console

Nintendo Life: Earlier this week we were rather pleased the share the news, based on a couple of sources, that Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse looks set to come to Wii U. It's unclear whether it'll be a straight-up re-release (on the Virtual Console) or a remastered port, but whatever the case it's a SEGA Mega Drive / Genesis game that'll be very welcome on Nintendo's system.

thunder force IV has to be one of the best shooters ever created, even to this date... showing that the Sega Genesis could truly compete with the NEO GEO in terms of shooters.

Haha ya gotta be kidding me, don't get me wrong i've got a soft spot for Thunder Force 3 and 4 but they ain't got nothing on Aero Fighters or Blazing Star on Neo-Geo.

Bloodlines is my favorite 16bit castlevania, it really made good use of the genesis graphics and sound capabilities (limitations)

And one of the best castlevania too, imo. Even though there's no Belmont and took place around the world such as Athens, Italy (Pisa Tower), or Germany. Also, the music are composed by Michiru Yamane, the best composer for castlevania series (i loved her score in symphony of the night).

is this what it comes down to? my how the mighty have fallen; pure sarcasticness about the mighty part btw LOL. wii u relegated to playing ports and hd remakes from 16 bit consoles. now you might be thinking, "bu bu but ps-tree has remakes 2". yeah, as appetizers, not the main dish LOL.

if you do not enjoy the classics you are missing out. ps or ms would kill to have the vc.

Xer0_SiN4025d ago

believe me, i like me some classics. i grew up in the 8 bit, 16 bit days. classics like some of the good games that are even shown in this article, but if i wanted to play classics, i would just dust off my snes or other nostalgic artifact and pop in the selected game. people buy a new machine because they want to be wowed with new and exciting games...not to play virtual console. thats supposed to be the icing on the cake, not the cake itself.

I just wish Sega would start making consoles again.

Looking Ahead: The Lingering Questions About the Next Mario Kart

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "10 years. It’s been almost 10 years since the last mainline release in the Mario Kart series. Mario Kart 8 came out for the Wii U in 2014 and became the best-selling game for the system by a sizeable margin, and later pulled the same magic trick on the Nintendo Switch under the stage name Deluxe. All in all, it's sold nearly 70 million copies over the last decade and is still selling like hot cakes to this day, so it’s no wonder Nintendo has been in no rush to replace it. However, with rumors of a new system being just around the corner, and reports a few years back that a new Mario Kart is indeed under way, it seems the era of 8 might very well be drawing to a close. It’s an exciting prospect to be sure, but after two Nintendo systems with Mario Kart 8 at their heart, a lot of questions remain about how Nintendo will choose to follow it up."

I hope they just keep building on Mario Kart 8; Add a track-creation tool, and probably open it up to more Nintendo IPs with new tracks and characters, so Metroid, Punch Out, Starfox, Animal Crossing, etc etc.

there wont be a new one until the switch 2 comes out.

nintendo needs their bangers early on
