NowGamer: "Sony has proven itself over the course of the PS3's lifecycle that it's not afraid to try something different and target different markets.
ModNation Racers, LittleBigPlanet, MAG and the likes of Journey or Tokyo Jungle on the PSN Store are all names that - while not huge sellers like Uncharted - show that Sony is willing to try new things."
Sony has recruited Bungie's head of revenue Jaremy Rich to head up its live-service gaming division, Rich has announced on social media.
Please do not put Destiny’s monetization into Sony’s first party games. The monetization is what’s driving players away from Destiny.
I mean, this person made some pretty bad decisions at Bungie. I hope they've learned from them because I definitely don't see those type of ideas as good for PlaySation in general.
Ps5 gamers in 2023 seemed to play more live service types of games, so regardless to how people feel about them, numbers don’t lie and Sony is going where the money is. I mean look at the excitement around Helldivers2, people are showing that they want live service games.
How do you kill a franchise that already been killed?
Destiny’s grind, cash-in-on-playbass-cha-Ching, and pop-culture-insertion mainstream-me-too bs totally killed any rep Bungie had. Sony/Bungie, if you are doing this to ward-off players, it’s already working.
Sony has patented to add multiple dialogue modes to let players switch between how many conversations with NPCs they want in the game.
Sony is like the only ones outta the 3 that has atuff like like this pop up changing thing in ways.
Genuine Enabling Technology was seeking damages, claiming the tech allowing PlayStation consoles and controllers to communicate infringes its rights.
Sounds like patent trolling they tried the same thing against Nintendo with the same pattern.
Motion and control input traversing over higher and lower frequencies seperate from each other allowing the controller to do both
So to recoup the money Genuine is going to take on Nintendo or Microsoft next. I hate patent lawyers they are some of the worst bottom feeders out there.
probably one of the most important factors for me purchasing the PS4 this christmas. Sony has a proven track record of incredible variety. Shooters are only fun for a few minutes.
It's one of the things I like most about PS3 recently - games like Journey, Tokyo Jungle, Unfinished Swan, etc
More like that for PS4 please (having The Witness on stage at the big PS4 reveal is definitely a good start)
Leave the first person shooters for third party developers because the market is terribly saturated as it is unless you have a unique idea for one.
But this is a really commendable approach from Sony; it goes to show that their promise about catering for core gamers isn't just a blunt approach of content for the sake of it but a concerted effort to offer content through innovation and a genuine interest in moving the industry forward.
Sony appear to be taking all the right steps this gen. I really can't fault any of its decisions. I don't mean this in the soppy, fanboyish way many on here go about but truly, Sony are an epitome of all the things 'true gamers' have been asking for, for a long time this gen.
Not only have they learned their lessons from their mistakes, but they really do seem to be setting themselves up to school the competition like they did in their previous glory days.
Games like puppeteer, rain, the witness, knack, drive club, the last guardian. Love how its not just about shooters.
Septic
I'll admit im a sony fanboy but surely ppl should understand that when we get spoiled with amazing games it can tend to make us do some fanboyish things but atleast I can admit it & have reasons to be a sony fanboy. I got nuttin against greenpowerz as I know he loves microsoft but the way they been for the last few years. Even I wouldnt defend sony if they treated us that way.
How about more JRPGs that's what the industry is lacking
