Sega have reassured Nintendo fans that they have fantastic developments for Wii U in the pipeline after the company cancelled the release of Aliens Colonial Marines on the console.

Well it better not be another disappointment, but nevertheless, that is good to hear

DA_SHREDDER4029d ago

the only people that are worried are the ones that don't have a WiiU. I'm pretty sure that anyone who owns already is speculating good games. Hence the reason we invested so early in it's lifecycle.

Whymii4029d ago

The question still stands, why will it never happen? What is your reasoning?

MASTER_RAIDEN4029d ago

never played shenmue before in my life. but i just dont understand how gaming companies could justify not creating a game that so many people have begged for for well over a decade, while still releasing games NO ONE is asking for.

in my eyes, Whatever shenmue is, it needs to happen because too human, lair and DMC happened.

cyhm31124029d ago

its not gonna sell, it is that simple. No way would Shenmue sells in today's market, people would find it too boring. even shenmue 2 didn't sell well.

caseh4029d ago

'people would find it too boring'

This, as you don't have perks or killstreaks it would be dismissed as boring.

Whymii4029d ago

Having played Shenmue to death on my Dreamcast, I understand the nostalgia for a remake or sequel. Truth be told, it was a great game in its day, but time have moved on and I think people would find it too restrictive. There are so many open world adventure games today that it wouldn't have the impact it had back then. Same for the story telling as well. Look at how well games like Bioshock Infinity, Red Dead Redemption, GTAs, etc are telling stories in open worlds.

Bubbles Dubstep

It would sell as well or better as any Yakuza game. Not too mention the majority of Nintendo gamers enjoy Japanese or eastern developed games.

Lol, not on Wii U. before anyone considers this trolling, understand why Wii U is the least likely place for Shenmue 3:

- it's a console that is only slightly more powerful than current gen. Suzuki-san pushes the envelope on hardware for its time. Compromises are not commonplace in that man's vision.

- Install base not large enough, and already PS4 and Nextbox have more how surrounding them than Wii U does, and have roughly 4 times the horsepower .

- A tablet controller that whilst would be cool for interactivity such as Ryo's notebook, item management and learning moves, is not applicable to the Shenmue formula.

Of all consoles Suzuki-san would choose, it's certainly not going to be the Wii U, which is basically the release that would cost them in both success and technical and artistic ambition.

Your first point is false. If it were true, then by definition the PS4 and 720 wouldn't be much more then the 360 and PS3.

Fact is the PS4 is ONLY 3x as powerful as a Wii U.
Fact is the 720 is only 2x as powerful as a Wii U.

That isn't a bunch of difference.

Even an uber PC is 8-9x as powerful as a PS4.

But that is only a moderate difference.

Fact it whether you play on Wii U or and uber late 2013 PC, you'll have about 27x difference from top to bottom, but play games that don't look hugely different.

Your 2nd point is hilarious, because this happens to EVERY console. 720 and PS4 will have the same issues. That's why, if you were too young to remember, that you had games coming out on the previous consoles and NOT on PS3/360.

Now more devs will finally jump up when there is a PS4/720/Wii U/PC to code on, thus Wii U will benefit when the devs jump finally jump forward, but there will still be games that are only on the old consoles, and guess what the old consoles will still sell more than the new ones.

That's right, the 360 and PS3 will sell more this xmas and in 2014 then the 720 and PS4 will.

Your third point is not understanding that the 'tablet controller' is really a bigger pro controller in terms of functionality. You have two triggers, two bumpers, four buttons, and two sticks.

...plus if you want a pro controller that looks and feels like a 360 controller, you can buy a Wii U pro controller.

The eshop isnt available in my country (South Africa) crappiest console launch I've ever seen!! At least when PS3 launched it worked out of the box!!!

Joegrine204029d ago

Simple change your eshop region sir

PygmelionHunter4029d ago

Then credit cards won't work...

Joegrine204029d ago

He lives in South Africa. it doesn't matter, he isn't seeing anything on the eshop. all he needs to do is change the region and i believe 3DS point cards also works with the wii U eshop. I live in Trinidad and if i put my region as Trinidad, i will see nothing on the eshop. I changed it to US and there it was everything. thats all he needs to do and hes good to go.

Sega sells Relic and will cut 240 jobs across UK studios

GamesIndustry.biz writes: "Relic is best known for the Company of Heroes and Dawn of War games, and recently developed the new Age of Empires for Microsoft. Relic will transition to an independent studio and will no-longer be part of the Sega group of studios.

The majority of the 240 job cuts are across Creative Assembly and Sega Europe, while there will be a ‘small number’ cut from Sega HARDLight. There was no mention of other Sega UK studios, including Two Point Studios and Sports Interactive."

Shame about Creative Assembly, they should have just been allowed to do an Alien Isolation sequel.

just_looken21d ago

It was that garbage coh 3 that did them in only a special team can make a sequel worse in every way even though it was a 10 year gap and the same era.

gold_drake22d ago

I hope they find new jobs in the industry soon.

Jingsing22d ago

Two Point Studios and Sports Interactive probably run on a shoe string budget so that fits into SEGA better lol
