Most gamers haven't completed Bioshock Infinite and most likely never will

A harrowing fact for many games developers is that many gamers simply don't get to see the ending of their games for whatever reasons.

I only stop playing games if they get boring before it's over. I played the timed trial for Bioshock Infinite and was blown away in one hour. I WILL see the ending when I buy it.

camel_toad4030d ago

No spoilers here but the ending completely changed my whole perspective on the game. Definitely a game worthy of finishing.

NewsForSnowflakes4030d ago

Spoiler here.

Bruce Willis was dead all along.

da_2pacalypse4030d ago

This game was meant to be finished multiple times. Forget just finishing the game once, You need to beat it at least twice. The subtlety of foreshadowing in this game is done with so much detail. I'm amazed at how delicate the game really is.

Bimkoblerutso4030d ago (Edited 4030d ago )

What's really gonna blow your mind is when you play the game over and realize that they were building up toward that ending through the entire narrative.

I thought it was off the wall too, but then...it just makes so much sense going through it again.

KingKevo4030d ago (Edited 4030d ago )

@ da_2pacalypse: Not if you have a good memory and can remember pretty much anything from the game including every audiolog xDD Like I found all but 2 :( and I don't feel like I forgot anything. I can pretty much remember every moment and they started to make sense now and I was exploring the world really well and saw a lot of other interesting things. But well, I see where you're coming from and I'll definately replay it. Hard was ok, but now I want the 1999 mode.

Edit: The only thing that I kind of forgot while playing it for the first time is when...

SPOILER

Bookers nose is bleeding when talking to Comstock. Later you find out why noses are bleeding, because they are from a different universe and are remembering things and try to make up own memories, because theirs are wrong or not accurate or existent. I thought it was bleeding because of the fight way before that and forgot about it during the game.

^^ What he said ^^

Eddie201014030d ago

This is a game that most people will finish. It's an amazing game.

It's better than Bioshock and most everyone loved that game including me.

LOGICWINS4030d ago

"This is a game that most people will finish."

Statistics say otherwise.

NewsForSnowflakes4030d ago

@LOGICWINS

This is N4G. Logic doesn't matter here.

Eddie201014030d ago (Edited 4030d ago )

Yes, the majority of games are not finished but really good games with good stories, production values and great game play get finished. Bioshock Infinite is one of them.

Heavy Rain had over 60 percent completion rate.

Most of what makes up your statistics is shooters with multiplayer that have mediocre single player and RPG's because they are long games. A really good game that is 10 to 15 hrs. long will more likely get finished than not. It's just that there aren't many of those these days.

Ducky4030d ago

@Logic

The stats say that over 50% of everyone who played Infinite, finished it.

So, most people have finished the game.

brave27heart4030d ago

Am I reading this right? 46% completed it on easy, 34% on medium? So 80% completed the game?

MysticStrummer4030d ago

I have two friends playing Bioshock: Infinite. One loves it and the other is so bored by it he's considering trading it in without finishing it. He loved the original Bioshock and is underwhelmed by the new one.

I've also stopped playing games to completion that are NOT boring, particularly because I've gotten too accustomed to great games letting me down with terrible final acts.

xHeavYx4030d ago

Didn't the game just come out? Some people have lives and work

Whitefeather4030d ago

Yeah I platinumed this game so I've actually seen the ending a couple of times.

jakmckratos4030d ago

Oh my god..this game wasn't long enough..I couldve played it easily for another 8 days

HammadTheBeast4030d ago

There is replayability. I've played it 4 times using different Infusions an gear, and making different choices.

maddfoxx4030d ago

Isn't it like this for most games? I know a lot of people who always buy games, but never finish them. I finish pretty much 97% of my games. There are some that I just haven't bothered to finish. Don't know why anyone wouldn't finish Infinite tho.

Lucreto4030d ago (Edited 4030d ago )

I just finished Bioshock Infinite today. It took me a week on and off.

I am still wrapping my head around the ending. Bioshock Infinite needed the COD crowd to make it profitable and I don't think they will understand the ending. I might be giving them too little credit.

xXBlondieVanHarlowXx4030d ago

How did we get from "didn't finish the game" to "it wasn't profitable?

P.S The CoD crowd doesn't care about great stories and great gameplay, their idea of fun is reaching their 12th prestige before the next CoD title. Their idea of a good story is alot of shooting and explosions with a grunt with an accent yelling at you all the way.

Top 10 Rarest Xbox 360 Games That Are Worth a Fortune

Twinfinite: “War may never change, but the prices of rare games do!”

"And lastly, famous Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling helped to create the action-RPG’s setting. What’s really fascinating, though, is that the game was partially financed by taxpayers from Rhode Island (which allegedly lost the state millions of dollars). Yikes!"

1. Now infamous Schilling
2. No allegedly, it did. And they couldn't pay it back.
3. What really lost the money wasn't the SP release but the MMO they were working on. This was supposed to be an introduction into the MMO world.

Soy268d ago

I hate counting limited editions for these lists. I mean, they're made to be rare and expensive. It's far more interesting to hear about the NCAAs (even if most people know that one already) and the El Chavos than some massive hit that came with a $200 statue at retail.

gamerz267d ago

Me too. Here's the best I can do:

El Chavo Kart $90.14
NCAA Football 14 $87.72
Spiderman: Edge of Time $75.94
Spiderman Web of Shadows $75.09
Spiderman: Shattered Dimensions $67.76

Christopher267d ago

Wow, El Chavo Kart is not at all what I expected by the name. 100% looks like a Sackboy Kart game.

Soy266d ago

It's so odd that so many Spider-Man games are seemingly given lower print runs, even if they're not the best games.

jznrpg267d ago (Edited 267d ago )

Most Xbox games don’t hold as much value compared to other systems. Kameo, Blue Dragon, Last Remnant , and a handful or 2 of other games that I kept.

sadraiden267d ago

Fallout 3 and Bioshock Infinite are the rarest games of all time.

8 Best Games Set In A Multiverse

One of the biggest TV and movie tropes in the last decade has been the multiverse, the idea of exploring multiple dimensions to uncover alternate versions of existing ideas. From both a business and creative perspective, it makes sense why established franchises are shaking things up in this way.

However, there aren't many video games latching on to this trend, as rendering multiple worlds in real-time is a difficult feat and the medium is relatively young in comparison to its contemporaries, making crossover opportunities more difficult. Still, there are a few great titles that manage enough to overcome these challenges, and here are some of the best examples.

While I love someone mentioning Planescape, not really multiverse. Planes and dimensions, yes. But, they are typically their own locations and are very rarely tied to another 'verse' let alone another plane. The only things that are directly tied are the ethereal and material planes. Otherwise, they are dimensions created of their own design and goals by the creator/owner and not comprised of 'their own version of another dimension'.
