With each new generation, new Pokemon designs suck even more.

They should just stop making these games for a while...

Dj7FairyTail4028d ago

then why don't you design them.

You do know there like 700.

Blacktric4028d ago (Edited 4028d ago )

"then why don't you design them."

Oh look, it's the: "if you don't like it why don't you do it yourself" guy.

Criticizing something does not require one to be able to do that thing better. By that logic, you shouldn't listen to what a huge majority of movie critics say. Get over yourself.

Anarki4028d ago

Why dont they just stick to the ones they have. It's getting silly how many there are now.

ChronoJoe4028d ago (Edited 4028d ago )

In fairness, he doesn't look that bad. It fits the artstyle seen in the newer games, more.

It becomes more difficult to be original, the more they produce. So cut them some slack. I think anyone that actually enjoys these games is willing to do that.

However, some of the designs we saw in gen 5 were just plain lazy, and not akin to the previous generations. Pokemon like Vanillite, and Chandelure made it feel like they were taking shortcuts with their design process (ie looking around a room, picking inanimate objects and making them into pokemon). Seriously, an Ice Cream cone and a Chandeleir?

With that in mind. Provided Gen 6 is better than gen 5, I certainly won't be complaining. Based on the starters and what we've seen so far, it looks pretty good. I'm not going to hate on the designs just because Mewtwo has a new form. Independently it's not bad either, just his old form looked more badass.

Mounce4028d ago

It's like, if Link from LOZ merged with Mewtwo.....

dark-hollow4027d ago

This is simply not true.

Muk, koffing, digglet (which evolves into three digletts! So creative!) Voltrob (a freaking pokeball for Christ's sake!) Ditto (pink Jilly with eyes) krabby ( a generic crab) jynx, drowzee, Exegegcute (EGGS WITH FACES!!!!)

Am not saying that the first gen designs sucks at all, but don't pretend like they are the pinnacle of creativity when it comes to design.

Every gen have it own good designs and bad designs.

jakmckratos4027d ago

Or hey if you really don't like them you just don't have to buy it! How about that! The jump to 3D should be enough for anyone and honestly these are the best looking starters since probably gen 3,,the 2 legendaries were also sick, the eeveelution is alright..and this one is a lot better than the leaked images!

And here's my favorite piece of advice as long as you are indeed a pokemon fan and not some turd trying to piss the rest of us off...only catch the pokemon YOU actually like. Even if they're not that great in battle the whole point of this game is to make an awesome team unique to yourself...who cares if you don't like all 100 new pokemon? All you need is 6

LOL_WUT4027d ago

Ditto was a beast! But yeah they need to give this series a rest at least until they can come up with some better ideas. ;)

MaxXAttaxX4027d ago (Edited 4027d ago )

Not the opposite.

CourierSix4026d ago

I do agree somewhat, but I will say I have grown accustom to the new gen pokemon, and there are some cool designs...

TXIDarkAvenger4027d ago

I would of liked it if it had been like another Pokemon, not a different form of Mewtwo. The original all ready looked badass.

rezzah4027d ago

It wasn't bad, but it now looks like the tail is sticking out the back of his head...

Jeenoman4027d ago

"This new Pokémon shares many traits with Mewtwo and it’s suspected that the newly discovered Pokémon has a connection with Mewtwo—a powerful Pokémon that debuted in Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue."

That's from the press release. Apparently it's a completely new Pokemon. Not a redesign of an already established one.

Root4028d ago

Why ruin the old Pokemon, kids today arn't going to know much about the old ones so why ruin their image for US older pokemon fans.

Seriously why does Mewtwo even have a second form...HE'S A CLONE. Surley Mew would be the first to have a second form, so if Mew dosen't then why does Mewtwo. I'm pretty sure a failed clone of a Pokemon wouldn't be able to have a second evolution.

TopDudeMan4028d ago

Well, going into that form will likely give benefits in the game such as increased physical attack damage or a different special ability. The same reason other pokemon such as arceus and giratina have different forms.

trenso14028d ago

@Root agreed i wish they didnt ruin the older pokemon at least not the legendary ones.

@topdudeman doubt that the video only showed him doing moves that were special attacks i dont think it will be a stat thing but maybe an ability or second type change or something

Pyrrhus4028d ago

At least we finally have a potentially good looking fire pokemon starter. We have had a shitty pig (only generation I started water) and an average monkey (which wasn't really that bad).

Infact, last generation designs were the worse. This generation is looking pretty OK atm imo.

majiebeast4027d ago

I didnt know Frieza was a pokemon.

ABizzel14027d ago (Edited 4027d ago )

It's grown on me.

At first I didn't like it, and I still think the original is much more b@d@$$, but it's seems ok now. It's like a Mew + Mewtwo hybrid.

I think the problem is he looks like a headphone wearing tween Mewtwo vs. a boss-like OMG evolution.

Reminds me of Kid Buu from DBZ, but should have been more like Super Buu.

It's NOT mewtwo... It's a new pokemon.

GenericNameHere4028d ago (Edited 4028d ago )

Like I thought before, Kid Buu has made his way into Pokémon

Edit: Mew3 (i'mma gonna refer to it as that since this form doesn't have a name yet) has 6 moves... Is Gamefreak allowing more usable moves in battle, or just showcasing some of the moves Mew3 has??

Yehshuah4028d ago

don't think it's six moves. it's just six different variations of moves he used

Blastoise4028d ago (Edited 4028d ago )

Awww nobody asked for this :(

Mewtwo was awesome as it was

SilentNegotiator4028d ago

Nintendo: "Shut up and go catch a Mewthree"

dafegamer4028d ago

This^^ Seriously they can ruin any pokemon they want, but just not Mewtwo

Baylex4027d ago

Yeah... but they did.. the most badass pokemon.. just ruined forever... on a simple draw......

Wenis4028d ago

To be honest, its better than the recent lot of uninspired-legendaries that they've made the past 2 gens.

Deku-Johnny4027d ago

Nobody asked for any of the 700+ Pokemon. Damn Genwunners.

Making Pokémon 3D Was A Mistake

Pokémon’s shift to 3D was a big mistake, as the series’ roots in 2D design make it difficult to transfer important game mechanics into a 3D overworld.

why do other games pull off 3D monster collecting JRPG games just fine? Look at Jade Cocoon and Shin Megami Tensei for examples.

Answer should be obvious.

No other videogame franchise is as merchandise driven as Pokémon

Nintendo 3DS Games We Still Love Playing Even Today

BLG writes: "While it didn’t sell as well as the Nintendo DS, the Nintendo 3DS was nonetheless a wonderful system. And, while this may be a hot take, it’s easily my favorite handheld. Even more than a decade removed from launch, the system’s library has so many titles that feel as fresh today as they did back at release. While it was hard to narrow down, these 30 Nintendo 3DS games are emblematic of the system’s success."

When Will The Pokemon Company Introduce a New Typing?

The Pokemon Company has a solid thing going right now. Well, it’s been going on for a while, actually, but it has been a while since a new typing has been introduced to the popular monster-taming series. The latest one, Fairy type, was introduced back in Generation VI (Pokemon X & Y), so it does seem like it is time to bring in a new one. Check out Jason Capp's article for more.
