Dear Square-Enix, Please Remake Final Fantasy 7 Now

Gi - This debate has been sung by spoony bards plenty of times before but now it is time to dust off our Phoenix Downs and cast them once again at our hopes for a Final Fantasy 7 remake. Why? The landscape for Square-Enix has changed very drastically recently. What was once a financially lucrative landscape that raked in the gil as effectively as the Gold Saucer now looks to be a meteored apart cosmo canyon. Squeenix might just finally have to cash in that Golden Chocobo shaped meal ticket.

Lets see how they do FFX and Kingdom hearts 1.5 first, cause studios can even mess up remakes.

those are not remakes. Remake is when you take something old and make it from the ground-up again. FFX is just a remaster. In other words, exactly the same game but prettier... But you can't really remaster FF7, there is no way. No matter how much you bump the resolution and AA the game will still look just as ugly.

Marcello4032d ago

Anyone wanting a FF7 remake can vote by buying the FFX HD version. Petitioning with your cash is always heard.

Baka-akaB4031d ago

By buying it i'm voting for FFXII first /instead :p

Orokana4031d ago

Obviously I don`t know FFX is yet, but I`ve played and finished KH 1.5. It was a really good HD remake. There were a few times in some cutscenes where one shot would be of a HD model and the next of the PS2 model, but apart from that, it was very well done and I felt like it was great value for money.

I might be in the minority here, but I wouldn't want a remake of FF7. Maybe create a new chapter in the story. Coarse with Square the way they are right now that may not be a good thing either.

Hanso4031d ago

yeah i want a sequel after all genisis is still alive and picked up weiß body ?!

Baka-akaB4031d ago (Edited 4031d ago )

Yup i'd rather have a sequel that might actually ends up good , over a remake that could pilfer a classic or not translate as well as the original .

I'm especially not looking forward to the Advent children designs and mood being used for the original FF7

At last a small enclave of sensible people on N4G.

rawshack4032d ago

every day its the same thing .ive given up on these guys

rodiabloalmeida4031d ago

They're not gonna do it unless they go bankrupt. And when they go bankrupt, they will not do it becouse they gone bankrupt. Its a paradox. Now serious... errmm... I think I already got serious on the matter. Nothing to see here. Square-Enix is not Square. Sad but true.

Pyrrhus4031d ago

I would much rather they finish their current projects and release a successor to a particular series (3 is a hint).

Yuji Naka guilty of insider trading breaks silence to accuse Square Enix producer of lies

Yuji Naka was fined $1.2 million and given a suspended jail sentence for the crime.

Profchaos8d ago (Edited 8d ago )

I find his comments around how Balan turned out to be very insightful as to why the game is trash. He basically apologises for its existence

solideagle7d ago

can you please give some of us who don't know anything about this, a summary of what happened?

Chocoburger7d ago

Balan was knowingly rushed out by S-E, it had an extremely short dev cycle and was fairly low budget.
Naka was the game's director until near the end when he was fired or perhaps he quit, I forgot.

carrotcakeag7d ago

@Chocoburger Yeah they did fire and replace him which caused him to unload a bunch of rants about the company. The project only existed because of Naka in the first place, he convinced Square to give him one shot at making a platformer. They gave him an opportunity but pulled the rug out before he was done for reasons not explained.

Original Final Fantasy 7 - Is it Worth Playing in 2024?

Final Fantasy 7 has come back under the spotlight thanks to the release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, but is it worth replaying the original?

ravens529d ago

Got to Zacks part in 7 Rebirth. Said f it. Finishing my game in 7 og. Just got to part 2 yesterday. I also got Crisis Core... So it'll be a while before I'm back to Rebirth. I just keep thinking about it too smh, want to get back to playing it. Not till I know Zacks story though. I beat 7 og sooooooo long ago, it's crazy going through it again and remembering things.

MrNinosan9d ago (Edited 9d ago )

Got to Zacks part in Rebirth?
You mean you started the game and turned it off?
The game starts with Zack...

ravens529d ago

... Really 🤓 lol. His second part, I've played for 80hrs lmao. <---- PS5 Run time, probably not all game time. You guys know how it goes.

VIK21218d ago (Edited 8d ago )

Did you not ever play the OG FF7? After you recruit Vincent, later in the game, disc 3, return to that basement and look at the pod, there's a whole Zack story that'll trigger as a memory.... it's well hidden in the game and a lot of things regarding Zack are cleared up. FF7 Crisis Core is basically an extend feature of that hidden flashback... It took me years to discover it back then lol

@ravens52
80 hours in Rebirth by doing everything, and you should've reached Zacks story about 5 times 🤣

ravens528d ago

Ye I kno that's y I said not all gameplay time. But also I am very anal when it comes to exploring.

ravens528d ago

Not to mention fighting Titan at his full strength. Hours spent trying still haven't succeeded. Found all 3 ruins but I'ma masochist when it comes to games.

Barlos9d ago

Very much so. Graphically it's dated but the story and the gameplay haven't aged a day. It's still one of my all time favourite RPGs and for me is better than Remake in some ways.

Barlos9d ago (Edited 9d ago )

It always takes me back to Christmas 1997, I got it as a gift and I was blown away when I played it. I couldn't believe games could look that good. The combination of pre rendered backgrounds and FMV really made it stand out. It definitely still has a certain charm that modern games can't replicate.

I can't imagine people will still be talking about Remake and Rebirth in 27 years.

Tapani8d ago

Fully agreed. To me the atmosphere, pacing, gameplay and music are all better than in the remake.

Rebel_Scum9d ago

Yes, play this, skip remake, start rebirth for new players.

I_am_Batman9d ago

Skip Remake? That's terrible advice.

leahcim9d ago

Remake is so amazing, pure FFVII Love, play it on PS5 please! aww the graphics the battles, the music... a dream come true.

Rebel_Scum9d ago (Edited 9d ago )

I disagree Batman
