What direction should a new Advance Wars game take? Light or dark?

It's odd how the OP both ignores and acknowledge Pokémon Conquest's existence.

Not every IP gets a long, guaranteed life filled with fame, fortune, and spin-offs. There are far more Gex-es out there than Marios. But, that doesn’t mean the series that died off are bad or less deserving. Some of them are both fan favorites and critically acclaimed. They just, well, didn’t make enough money or ended up lost to time.
I'd say somewhere in the middle, a little darker that Dual Strike but not as dark as Days of Ruin.
I Don't mind a more serious story, just don't LOOK so damn depressing. because I mostly play versus with my GF and I couldn't stand the depressing look of the game even during versus mode. Just my opinion.
