In days marked by the fuzzy, high-pitched glare of the cathode ray tube, resolution wasn’t such a concern, and games were not made with the understanding that five, ten, or twenty years down the line they might be plugged into a television on which their every pixel or polygon was blown up into a jagged, blocky distraction.
Once developers realized that, though, they certainly moved fast.
The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection launched in 2011, and is still the best way to play Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater ahead of the remake.
Can’t wait to one day break that game out of the collection vault
Currently playing Snake Eater HD on CRT 16:9, via Scart RGB. Game looks great but not as clean as MGS2, but thats due to the setting. Can't wait for the remake + the next HD collection on PS5.
Months after they were removed from sale, a number of Metal Gear Solid games have yet to return to the PlayStation and Xbox stores.
Konami's too busy with their Pachinko machines to worry over silly little things like this.
Konami will temporarily remove Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3 from digital storefronts starting November 8 as it works to renew the licenses for select historical archive footage used in each game, the company announced.
To be honest, I’m surprised Konami are even considering re-listing this given how they’ve abandoned their franchises and fans.
Maybe temporarily will become permanently.
Just started MGS 3 over the weekend.
Wouldn't have affected me since I bought the collection a long time ago.
I'm more interested in the fact that they have to re-license historical footage constantly. At what point is it not worth it anymore? I can't imagine a lot of people are buying MGS Collection.
How to get engaged with 2s story ? , can't get through the ship without quiting the game literally since forever.
Kingdom Hearts 1.5 was the best I've seen in terms of remastering. Hopefully FFX will follow suit, which it looks to be. MGS HD was of course really well done as well though.
I can vouch for the Hitman HD collection, I thought it looked great, really sharp, especially Hitman Contracts
Killzone HD on the other hand doesnt look that much better than the PS2 version
The MGS HD Collection, to me, was well worth picking up.
Playing MGS HD on the Vita, its awesome. One of the few games I really feel have benefited from touch controls
The best collections for me are:
MGS HD Collection
God of War Collection (the CGIs are a not sharp, but the game is treated in a great way)
God of War Origins Collection
Ico and Shadow of the Colossus Collection
Ratchet & Clank Collection
Jak and Daxter Collection
Sly Cooper Collection
DMC collection is just crap. The games are just given more resolution and that's it. All the textures look like $hit. And the menus within the games are 9:6. Really poor "HD" collection. RE4 HD is another poor example of HD remastering, because it has the same treatment as DMC collection.
Kingdom Hearts and FFX Collection are looking really good.
