Epix Headed to PlayStation 3 Today

Premium TV network Epix today is making good on a promise to bring streaming to the PlayStation 3.

The network is launching its app on the console, giving users high-definition access to its library of more than 3,000 titles, including new releases like The Avengers, Skyfall, The Hunger Games, and Mission: Impossible-Ghost Protocol. There's also a slew of other Epix content including documentaries, concerts, comedy specials, and championship boxing.

And how much does a subscription cost?

And again calling for a ban on the word "free" from advertising. We all know they'll want a credit card for the two "free" weeks.

Godchild10204039d ago (Edited 4039d ago )

If they don't charge your card, isn't it still free until the two weeks are up? Just because they ask/require a card to be present on the account, that doesn't mean its not free. You also have the ability to cancel any subscription fees before being charged, if you don't want to continue the service. Making it free for two weeks as long as you cancel before the time is up.

I signed up for two free weeks and it didnt ask me for a card. Maybe you buy per movie.

Godmars2904039d ago (Edited 4039d ago )

Okay, so you don't have to have to give them your credit card.

Still not seeing a subscription price.

Edit:
confused mech is confused...

So, subscription is through a cable provider with no listed price? But then I'm not paying for my cable - someone else is - and even then by their site the provider isn't one which yet carries Epix - and yet I'm not watching something.

Well, at least I get two weeks out of it.

but i have used Epix on the 360 and never once saw a subscription or extra charge on either my live or uverse bill. I dont know how but I am able to watch their shows for....free.

With hulu, you know there is a fee. Same with netflix but epix.....I just dont know.

As mystery is forming. What the hell is this service?

Godmars2904038d ago (Edited 4038d ago )

Something that given access to over twenty movies including the Avengers and Cabin in the Woods for two weeks.

So "win" I guess?

They're probably using a central server through PSN, so even if your cable provider doesn't have Epix, you can watch it over PSN, but you're likely still out of luck unless you've got PS+.

@Farsendor1:
You still have to register with them.

Register at their site and log in on the PSN page to DL the app, then get and enter a code to register your PS3.

TitanUp4038d ago

don't think you have to have ps plus to use apps like this on ps3. anyways i copied and pasted this from the article

The Epix app is free to download from the Media & Apps section of the PlayStation Store for PS3 users in the U.S.

Seraphemz4038d ago

Its pretty cool that you get a free movie with Plus sub...

DATNEWYAWKER4038d ago

Epix comes with Verizon Fios. You have to be a Verizon customer
.

BLow4038d ago

This app is just like HBO GO people. Your have to have the channel from your cable provider to use the app after the two free weeks. So if you go out of town or put your system in a room without a cable box then you'll be able to watch the content available by each channel. Which is pretty much everything.

El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron - Coming Back for a New Generation

Originally launched in 2011, El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron is coming to Nintendo Switch, so It's time to look back at the original.

Still have my ps3 copies. Bought it at launch and another one when I found it cheap and in perfect condition about 10 years ago. I wouldn’t buy it on Switch but if they made a PS5 version I would. I still have one of my PS3 Fats hooked up so good to go either way.

darthv7211h ago

Id play it again on the switch. I wished my 360 version was bc but this is still a good way to play.

Fallout 3's Reveal Led To Death Threats And Bethesda's First Security Guard

The artist behind Fallout 4’s Deathclaw reveals just how bad things got back when Bethesda took over the series

anast12h ago

People are stupid I get it. No one should feel unsafe,

But I think they need to talk about why they cut so many corners during the development process and why none of their games ever look current. And why they think all of this is okay while they charge full price.

LucasRuinedChildhood12h ago

As much as Bethesda deserve criticism, that's not really relevant to the reveal of Fallout 3 in 2007.

VenomUK9h ago

The default angle Kotaku always go for is to highlight the worst in gaming.

I would’ve focused on the creative.

there is no "but". the hell lol
you dont send death threats, period.
