They have to remove those dreadful virtual controls from the screen first. That's the worst part imo. Mobile devices have these beautiful screens that are either cluttered with control schemes or half-obscured by your fingers when in use.

Unless it auto-disables the virtual UI when a controller is plugged in, its still just glorified, half-assed gaming.

Agreed, also if this is a console not a mobile device then I highly doubt that people would buy it because Apple would be new to the console gaming era. I wouldn't never buy a console that is new. I would have to see how well it can last and the support from games. JoyPad sounds like a mobile game device. Either way I probably wouldn't buy a mobile gaming device. I would stick to the Vita, 3DS and the others but phone games and mobile games in Apples sense I wouldn't buy it

Games like GTA are unplayable with touch screen controls.

Ninja_G_Aidan4033d ago

I found GTA3 alright with the touch screen controls. Half way through the game I am. But using a controller is definitely recommended, so much easier.

Bizarre, there was an article yesterday stating that Apple WOULDN'T be releasing an official joypad.

Like it matters, anyone who wanted to use a pad on Android for example simply rooted the device and grabbed a PS3 pad. I would imagine that something similar can be done with the iPhone.

sourav934033d ago

Actually, most new android devices don't even need to be rooted for gamepads to work. This includes devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S3, the Google Nexus 7 and many others. All you need is an OTG cable and you're sorted.

I had the LaserActive... it was a nice collectors piece but not very practical. Especially when it came to needing recapping. I think i paid all of about $50 for the floor model from an incredible Universe back in the day. I ended up selling it many years later for $300 at the time due to it needing a new laser and the aforementioned recapping.

An honorable mention not on the list would be the VM Labs Nuon. It basically looked like any regular DVD player but it had ports on it for controllers to play specific games. one of which is still exclusive to it with Tempest 3000. It also offered nuon enhanced DVD movies with extra content not accessible by regular players.

Why Epic's Win Against Apple And Google Paves The Way For The Future Of Mobile Gaming

Epic Games winning its cases against both Apple and Google is shaping the way forward for the future of mobile gaming.

shinoff218334d ago

I feel alot of mobile gamers are kids which will at some point probably turn to console or pc. Mobile gaming just doesn't cut it for me.

AlterRecs33d ago

tru dat, but i feel like it's gonna be a lot more viable for people who travel a lot or don't want to invest in a full gaming rig. Think of it as a Switch on drugs, with a LOT more room for free illegal downloads.
