Aladdin should have made the list

YoungPlex4041d ago (Edited 4041d ago )

Wow dude, I thought I was the only person that thought Aladdin was a great game! I know that it destroyed the Genesis version hands down; the animations, textures and lighting were phenomenal at that time...

Another title that I believe was made by Enix was Actraiser which was one of the best JRPG's and games to ever come out on the SNES. Here's a reference in case your interested.

It is more a matter of preference but the larger concensus is that the Genesis version of aladdin was better. And in my personal experience (I have both) i agree.

The SNES version had smoother visuals which some people prefered but the Genesis version used the actual disney animations.

The Genesis version was also more action orientated, you had a sword you could fight with. The SNES version was closer to Mario Bro's where you actually had to jump on enemies heads to fight them.

The Genesis version had faster/smoother controls, less clunky feel to the movement.

The music was also much better on the Genesis version. Alot more of the original aladdin theme music in it than in the SNES version.

WOW!!!! NO SUPER METROID!?!?!

To this day one of the best games I've ever played. If anyone asked me what game needs a remake it would be SM!

YoungPlex4040d ago

Dude that should've been a no brainer! I didn't mention Super Metroid because I feel that it should be #1 on any gamers list! Oh and I don't like this article because the SNES had way to many amazingly great titles to only have a top 5, minimum should be top 20...

gillri4040d ago

this list is fail, No Super Metroid!? No Chrono trigger..No FFVI!?

Where is:

Aladdin , Chrono Trigger , Perhaps a FF game.

Kart & World belong on there...

Not so sure about Turtles in time although it's a solid game.

theMacWha4039d ago

Lol to be honest, Alladin took my number four spot on my upcoming Genisis one. I never played the SNES version

theMacWha4039d ago

My 5 in no specific order:

Super Metroid
Contra III: The Alien Wars
Super Mario Kart
Zelda: A Link to the Past
Super Mario World

CalvinKlein4041d ago

I still have mario world, mario kart and turtles 4. I love all those games

Phils_Libra4041d ago

Agree Super Mario World and Zelda were both great, but not in my top 5 though.

My top 5 would have been:
5. Castlevania IV
4. Super Ghouls N' Ghosts
3. Donkey Kong Country (1 & 2 were great)
2. Final Fantasy II (IV in Japan)
1. Super Metroid

It was imaginative, great controls and fun. Definition of a great game. What else is there to say?

The end.

Everything! A picture in time.

Terry_B425d ago

Still waiting for a real sequel.

I love this game. Got the SNES bundle of Christmas of 1992 I think. I wanted the Genesis with Sonic 2 but this was just as good at the time. This was a huge jump from the nes Mario's and I didn't think it could get batter than Mario 3. The addition to Different Yoshi's added amazing gameplay.

Thundercat77425d ago

It was magical. Coming from Super Mario 3, this game felt glorious with its graphics, colors and music. A masterpiece.

Top 20 Soundtracks From the 16-Bit Era

In the 16-bit era, game devs and composers could finally change the type of tones used in the music, simulating a wider array of instruments and creating a whole lot of great soundtracks in the process.

It wasn’t easy picking out the best of the best because there were so many great ones. Even middle-of-the-road soundtracks seemed to deserve a bump if the game was just that damn good, and so many from that era are that damn good!

Here's the Ghetto Gamer list of top 20 soundtracks from the 16-bit era.
