Metal Gear Solid V Kojima Interview Information Roundup - Kojima Wants MGSV To Be His Last

Even people living under a rock have heard that The Phantom Pain is actually a combination effort with Ground Zeroes to make Metal Gear Solid V. This was revealed by Hideo Kojima during a demonstration of the FOX Engine at GDC. If you aren’t tired of hearing about Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain yet, then you’ll be glad to know that there was some additional information on the mysterious project that was revealed in a Game Trailers interview between Geoff Keighley and Hideo Kojima. Well not really. Final Fantasy was called Final Fantasy because the company released it as their last game ever. But, it did so well, that the company survived and continued making games under that name.

With MGS, it's pretty clear that Kojima wants to work on other projects, but it seems like one of two things is happening:

1. He either passes the game over to another director, and when he sees what that person comes up with, he hates it and realizes he has to take over the game.
2. Konami knows that they need his name attached to the game in order for it to sell.

Obviously I'm just guessing, it could be a little of both, but the situation is definitely nothing like the FF situation.

@gaffyh I am well aware of the FF situation. I was being facetious, sarcastic and humorous, and did state it's KINDA like FF, which it KINDA is. Yes it's not an exact match up, but in general terms of it being the last one, but probably not (Also referencing the numerous FF XIII sequels.....).

Yupp that's true. I'm sure he says to himself a lot that this will be the last then Konami drops by with a bag of money saying make more and so a new game is born. It's at least respectable that he still treats all his games with care and makes them quality titles. Just look at metal gear rising, he asked different devs to do it because he realized his team couldn't. No one in any other developer would do that. And I'm convicted that without Kojima productions Konami wouldn't last long anymore. Either way love metal gear and I'll buy this even though I'm saddened by no hayter

I hope this is his last Metal Gear Solid title. I would love to see the hundreds or so of other ideas that he has for games. I would love for him to wrap up the series and tie in Solid Snake somehow for the last harrah.

Of course I also believe that if the fans want more, then he will do so, but I hope he can trust someone else with directing and taking care of his baby. Not even a producer role. I say that because once you stick your thumb in, you end up sticking both hands in the cookie jar and going all the way. I also do not know what he can possibly add to the crazy story beyond Big Boss and Solid Snake alone if he directed more MGS titles =b. I can see tie ins with a Liquid, Ocelot, Jaeger, or even a Boss game. MGS V seems like it is going to be really epic.

I'm okay with Kojima doing another game that it's not MGS, but, like all Japanese developers, he's fucking slow.
