IGN: "After raising over $8.5 million on Kickstarter last July, the Ouya Android game console is ready for launch. Shipments of the special Kickstarter Edition of the console will begin today and continue into April. Those who missed the original crowdfunding campaign, however, are in luck, as the company has also confirmed today that the system will arrive at retailers in the US, UK, and Canada on June 4th, including Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Target, and others. I see a lot of people using the Ouya as emulation device and media stream device.

6GB of storage is quite small sadly(actually 8gb but this is after software and etc is installed). Hopefully there will be a way to plug up a external flash drive or hard drive.

Cause I certainly did. Some of the best games this gen were downloadable 'small' games, like Super Meat Boy, Fez, Spelunky, Shadow Complex, etc etc. All games which should be possible to play without a problem on a powerul Android device.

If these developers see that there are many people on Android, on Ouya, and they prefer the freedom it could give them, creatively, and budgetwise, we could see a shift of such games from PSN/XBLA towards Android/Ouya.

The OUYA was never ever meant to compete with current-gen retail-games. It was always meant to play games like those on PSN/XBLA. And if the developer-support is there, it has a huge potential.

We'll have to see if it will be able to live up to that potential.

Well at least it defeats the intire argument we heard about the Vita having console style games on the go. People was saying, why would I want to play Uncharted on the go when i can play on my couch? Well why would I play mobile games on the couch when i can play on the bus? Smh. Makes no sense.

Totally agree with you. There seems to be a double standard when it comes to Sony product. Either people want to see Sony fail or they would find a way to look down on Sony Products. Prime example is the Vita when it was released.

The point's your brought up are great but also there is more to it than that. What many really are overlooking and cannot be stated enough. Is who the people that are that designed and are backing this very machine. If people would stop to think that people such as Ed Fries!

This is just one of the people involved in the development of this product, people underestimating this project may be doing it to their detriment!

All this hate and at the end of the day I'm predicting this to be the next Wii. If games are fun, outdated/low-level graphics mean nothing. If the console is cheap, more parents will take notice and buy these for their youngest children.

Think about it, wouldn't you rather get your 6-9 year old this instead of letting them, dangerously, handle your smart phone. Wouldn't you rather get them this and pay $100 for the console and $5 for the games than pay $400 for a next gen console and $60 for the games.

This thing might not be for everyone but it DEFINITELY has a market and I think it'll be a success. I don't intend to buy myself one but I DO have a 5 year old daughter, and 7 year old nephew and a 4 year old niece that I'm likely to get them for.

Even beyond that, this also might get the attention of low income households and casual gamers.

Restating it, it'll be the next Wii.

I personally see them as a ray of sunshine for gamers in a manner of speaking. They have stated that they are trying to support gamers, and they like to give gamers what they want to give themselves, a great platform for gaming-simple as that.

I think the reason why so many people hate it is because they are afraid that this device might become a huge hit and that it might damage developer support for the 720 and the PS4. But i honestly believe that the Ouya isnt even competing with those devices so people shouldnt be worried at all.

That's a nice point being able to carry it with you but I don't want to lug the wires around with it.. I'm not afraid the Ouya will cause any dent to developers on PS4/720. I just think it's beyond pointless but that's my opinion. If you guys want to pick this thing up no one will stop you.

Why not carry a Vita? It's a more powerful console, and has better games? You don't need, for example, a PS1 emulator on it, since it already has one.

Some of you are over-thinking it, I'd say. C'mon, think about it a little.
For some people, carrying it would be great. Sorta like my father.
My father goes out of town for work to stay in a hotel, for a month.
It's a perfect little device that can easily be packed away with everything else.
And, because it's so little it's not too much of a burden to carry with you.

I go from place to place quite often, so I could make use of it.

So, its an opensource console that runs mobile/indie titles. Why should we stop palying in our PCs/consoles and start playing angry birds on our tv? OUYA was always more hype than actual content. Besides, with the Vita being able to play so many indie and mobile titles, this is getting even more useless by the day.

Do people actually think that angry birds is like the only game that will come with this console. Yes the ouya runs android, and by extension is open to the google play or whatever but this isn't just going to be phone games on your tv. 8000 people got the ouya dev kit, do you think every single game is going to be something you play on your phone while you're on the can. No one said you had to drop everything else to play the ouya

currently 104 titles available in the Ouya store, including Final Fantasy 3. Also Sega has signed on to make some non-Sonic games for it. But yeah, it's just hype. If you're going to hate on something at least have all the facts.

It doesn't just run mobile/indie titles. It also runs console quality games through OnLive and through that will have many of the features that are set to be available on the PS4.

Lately I've been playing games such as Legend of the Dragoon, FF7 and FF Tactics.
And, of course, that's been on my laptop. I'd rather hook it up to my 50" TV.
So, if this little thing can play games such as those, and even better ones, I'm in.
