BioShock Infinite Review (PS3) PSLS

“Bring us the girl, wipe away the debt,” That’s something that you’ll hear a lot as you make your way through Columbia, the city in the sky. Opening on a note very similar to the original BioShock, you enter a lighthouse in the middle of the ocean and are thrown into the sky to begin your journey to find Elizabeth to simply pay off your debts. Booker doesn’t necessarily start off as the most likable character, but intrigue will leave you driven and you will hardly be able to put the game down until after you’ve watched the credits roll. From the moment you start BioShock Infinite, you know you’re in for something special.

Jeez, this one just can't miss.

guitarded774045d ago

It really can't. I'm still of the school that there's no such thing as a 10/10 or perfect score, but Infinite is very close. My only issue is so far is the extreme directional audio. You have to be directly facing NPC's to hear their conversation, and distance isn't really affected for the audio. Other than that, it's brilliant. Oh, and it doesn't have the creepy factor of the first game. It's bizarre, but not creepy.

Check out PSLS review policy. 10/10 doesn't mean it's a perfect game.

For some reason I just read your comment in the Target Lady's voice from SNL.

Looks like the hype train is in overdrive.

Wedge194045d ago

My review was actually specifically looking for mistakes and negatives to avoid the hype train. I was going to pick apart this game to it's every flaw. The problem there lies in that even looking for flaws, I was unable to find any that marred the finish of the title. No game is perfect, but Infinite is damn close.

Dude we heard you the first time

Looks like haters be hating with claims they refuse to justify.

At the very least, most of the reviews justify the score with powerful and highly literate reasoning. There's very little room for exaggeration for games with the scope, detail and masterful execution of Infinite.

I emplore you, tell us why it's overrated rather than using redundant nothings. Something tells me you can't, which leads me to believe you really don't have the mind to understand or analyse everything that's on offer in the city of Columbia let alone the BioShock universe.

Mainsqueeze4045d ago (Edited 4045d ago )

Dude, this guy couldn't analyse Green Eggs and Ham if you asked him too.

majiebeast4045d ago (Edited 4045d ago )

Combat isnt that good leaves alot to be desired and gets pretty repetitive. The game is a solid 9, certainly not a 10 imo. The best part of the game is the atmosphere and story.

fossilfern4045d ago

I agree I coming near the end of the game and been a grind for the last hour or so. Im at part where you have to find the 3 tears.

Wedge194045d ago

I never got sick of the combat. The Vigors that you pick up offer enough variety, and the enemies and environments that you fight in change up enough to keep things fresh, especially the further you get into the game.

"And lastly, famous Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling helped to create the action-RPG’s setting. What’s really fascinating, though, is that the game was partially financed by taxpayers from Rhode Island (which allegedly lost the state millions of dollars). Yikes!"

1. Now infamous Schilling
2. No allegedly, it did. And they couldn't pay it back.
3. What really lost the money wasn't the SP release but the MMO they were working on. This was supposed to be an introduction into the MMO world.

Soy273d ago

I hate counting limited editions for these lists. I mean, they're made to be rare and expensive. It's far more interesting to hear about the NCAAs (even if most people know that one already) and the El Chavos than some massive hit that came with a $200 statue at retail.

gamerz273d ago

Me too. Here's the best I can do:

El Chavo Kart $90.14
NCAA Football 14 $87.72
Spiderman: Edge of Time $75.94
Spiderman Web of Shadows $75.09
Spiderman: Shattered Dimensions $67.76

Christopher272d ago

Wow, El Chavo Kart is not at all what I expected by the name. 100% looks like a Sackboy Kart game.

Soy272d ago

It's so odd that so many Spider-Man games are seemingly given lower print runs, even if they're not the best games.

jznrpg273d ago (Edited 273d ago )

Most Xbox games don’t hold as much value compared to other systems. Kameo, Blue Dragon, Last Remnant , and a handful or 2 of other games that I kept.

Fallout 3 and Bioshock Infinite are the rarest games of all time.

8 Best Games Set In A Multiverse

One of the biggest TV and movie tropes in the last decade has been the multiverse, the idea of exploring multiple dimensions to uncover alternate versions of existing ideas. From both a business and creative perspective, it makes sense why established franchises are shaking things up in this way.

However, there aren't many video games latching on to this trend, as rendering multiple worlds in real-time is a difficult feat and the medium is relatively young in comparison to its contemporaries, making crossover opportunities more difficult. Still, there are a few great titles that manage enough to overcome these challenges, and here are some of the best examples.

While I love someone mentioning Planescape, not really multiverse. Planes and dimensions, yes. But, they are typically their own locations and are very rarely tied to another 'verse' let alone another plane. The only things that are directly tied are the ethereal and material planes. Otherwise, they are dimensions created of their own design and goals by the creator/owner and not comprised of 'their own version of another dimension'.
