If you people don't think that this is a significant step above BF3 then you need to learn how to analyze dem graphics cause that **** blew BF3 out the water. Too me it's BF3 with better graphics.

There were no new gameplay elements that stood out at all. No lean, no free look separate from your crosshairs & I love the part were he magically clicks an invisible switch in his left hand & all the opfor's magically have an orange triangle over their heads, saying here shoot me first please!

I must say the lighting & particle effects look amazing but that will wow most only for about week, then everyone will finally start looking at gameplay!

ArmA 3 to me still has better controls & gameplay elements and it's not so hollywood action based, I'm really sick of that now. Best of all, no Origin!

I'm amazed at just how versatile that engine is. It does look more like an improvement on Frostbite 2 than a whole new engine but the effortless manner in which it handles the varying scale, damage, physics and weather whilst keeping the visual integrity intact and so free-flowing. Its incredible.

BF4 seems to have insane amount of detail and destruction I never seen in games before! And Im sure multiplayer will be great as always... But I very dislike this Single player campain, I will never play it just like all latest COD's or BF, all the same.. just beautiful surroundings and full scripted events, with lots of pointless battles where you are a terminator from the future, since you kill everyone, but no one can kill you... that is soo boring.. and that pointless enemy invasion from all directions, its like they are adding more pointless gameplay time and saving playing space..

I want BF single player campain to be more mature, not just pointless Hollywood style running and shooting with special effects, helicopters flying around, all that looks like bullshit and childish.. all that we already have in COD games, Dice must make it more realistic and show us true war like it is in Online MP BF games... and even there they now are adding arcade elements...

I am not a big fan of playing as special forces and I would prefer they kept it like BF3 where you are part of a bigger unit advancing. Usually tier-1(SF etc.) go ahead or behind enemy lines. I rather be in the front lines with 100+ vs 100+ instead of small unit operations. (think Cod4:modern warfare when you assault that desert city before the helicopter/nuke scene. That was epic)

Technologically, the game looked very impressive but the campaign from that trailer looked incredibly stupid. I was hoping they'd have gone for something a bit more realistic after the criticisms of BF3 but it seems like they are still going for this Hollywood all out action affair with set pieces galore. The realistic approach was what ruined BF3's campaign. They basically did the exact same story as Black ops but made it believable which resulted in something that wasn't memorable at all.

BF3 is not an army sim and people need to understand that. You want a realistic experience you need to do a 180 and look at ARMA.

It looks kind of like a typical cross-generation game to me.

I mean, in some scenes it looks just like Battlefield 3, but after the helicopter chase scene the visuals go crazy. It happens though, when a game is set to be released for both current and next-gen consoles. I honestly think this in no way indicates the graphical prowess of next-gen consoles, as I believe that to be regarded as a truly next-gen game, the product should ONLY be released for the next-gen consoles. I mean, high-res textures are not enough, when there is last-gen involved you can not put too much emphasis on polygonal details of characters and environment etc. If this was a next-gen only game I believe it would look much better, with the power of optimized Frostbite engine rather than this Frostbite 2 variation which I highly doubt would work as great as it does on PCs on the next-gen consoles. Battlefield 5 however, would look absoultely spectacular with a little tweaking.

I still think Killzone Shadowfall looks better than this, and it's a game which is confirmed to be working at 1080p resolution on PS4. The next generation once again will be the generation of exclusives in terms of visuals, I guess. Don't get me wrong, BF4 still looks stunning, but not as near-CGI quality as Killzone Shadowfall does, which is understandable, as it's also going to be available for PS3 and 360.

(I expect this to happen JUST based on PS4's GPU, my HD 5770 has like 1.3TFLOPS and I maxed out BF3 (on high anyway LOL) and I see BF4 running quite ok on my rig, running on basically the same engine with some tweaks (can't say the same for 720, my GPU is stronger then the rumored 720's which is pretty sad) Mind you I don't have a GPU that is even near PS4's, thus my reasoning behind getting the PS4 version, they are very likley to deliver with the 1.85TFLOPS in the PS4.

It doesn't really take much for me to get it on PS4. Look the same as PC (clearly it may not look better due to PC's getting new and beast GPU's, but at least equal when maxed out) Same player count (the main reason I got BF3 on PC)
Battlelog to be present on the PS4 version.....thats it.

If player count or graphics are hindered....PC it is.

It definitely wowed me, they seemed to have made the glare much more natural too. All that lighting, the particles you see around the heli-shooting scene is amazing. The animations are alot smoother, faces included. The textures and details have been ramped up a bit too!

Looks better than Crysis 3 on Max settings and my Alienware GTX 690 can handle Crysis 3, but will probably only play on medium to high settings for Battlefield 4!!! This game will blow energy out of my PC. Gonna be super hard to play it Max!!! Heck it looks a little better than Killzone ShadowFall, with the facial expressions, destruction( Still think Red Faction can do better destruction than the Frostbite Engine), dynamic weather and etc. I know both game are in their early stages, but both games are going to look great when they finally launch. Your selling that 690gtx ridiculously short if you think it will only be capable of medium-high settings. I have a 680 and I think I'll be capable of high-ultra settings but I won't really know until I get it. You will without a doubt max it out with 60fps easy unless your playing at a crazy resolution.

Cooguy don't worry about it. Mentioning your graphics card almost falls in line with mentioning what console you have. It's usually console only players that feel offended.

Looks awesome! There weren't really many QTE's (good), but there were lots of models reused. Look at the russians, and you can see the BF3 models. Don't know it they had new voice acting, or were they just the previous BF's voicelines? Otherwise, hope they are just placeholders for now, and they receive new models. It will look as good as the game play. My only worry is that it seems gameplay is again capped at 30 frames per second instead of 60.

You have to realize that

1. It was shown on PC, so it's 60FPS.

2. Most streaming sites don't stream at 60 frames per second, only 30 frames per second.

3. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure I read a post on N4G stating that Dice said it would run at 720p at 60FPS on next generation consoles.

BF games have historically been, 2 to an engine. BF2 then BF 2142, BFBC1 used Frostbite 1 along with BFBC2, BF3 (imho) is using FrostBite 2 along with BF4.

Now look at WHEN those games released, the second of them released faster and with MORE improvements. (though the mod community kept BF2 alive, one can't ignore all the improvements that where made with BF 2142, Titan Mode, fixing the classes to not have both Engineer and anti tank etc)

BFBC2 fixed SOOOO many issues.

I'm excited for BF4, because though I know I'm getting more of the same, I know that this BF is the ie "much improved" BF. This team is making an engine and a game at the same time.....this time just a game. So BF4 will be one of the good ones just based on that.

I mean, I would love to get a BF with a new, sweet engine, but at the same time, why waste time? Technically they can have a team working on a new engine while they make BF4, as suppose to just waiting like 3 years.

As someone else noted in another BF4 article, when BF3 was released the actual gameplay didn't match what the demo promised on pc neither console.

With that being said, although i'm excited for the possibilities of the next BF4 game i can't help but keep my hype level sustained. I hope DICE deliver a better experience for BF4 and not a BF3.5 upgrade otherwise my money will go to KZ: Shadow Fall and Infamous at launch.

BF3 in terms of mp was a disappointment to me compared to BC2 due to the camping that the game had and some unbalanced aspects but it was still an amazing game.

From what I've seen, the story looks to be a lot better than what BF3 had and the rumour of it having full destruction like BC2 just makes it even better.

In the middle section of the footage, the level design looks way more open than BF3 and most sections of BFBC2.
It's likely that they picked this section specifically in response to the criticism against the linear nature of these campaigns (especially BF3 but BFBC2 was also much more restrictive than BFBC1).

It remains to be seen whether this semi-free roam segment is indicative of the overall campaign (I seem to recall BF3 had one such moment too but the rest was super linear). If they are, let's not nitpick, it will be a solid step in the right direction.
Unfortunately, the rest of that demo mission looks pretty much like the same scripted crap we've been served for the last few years.

My only gripe was that at times the AI seemed a bit stupid. Like, for example after Irish kills the two dogs, you're laying cover fire and you see the player hit the same guy in the window 3 times. Each time he stands back up and returns back to the same spot until he eventually dies.

I would have liked to see him try and move to a different spot, or even fled in cowardice etc etc. Good looking game, but in some respects it's not groundbreaking.

They are going for realism but when you use a grenade launcher on a enemy the body stays in tact they need to show impact on the bodies with bullets these elements would take the gameplay to the next level. Iam just thinking how horrible it will look on ps360 the ps4 should be on par with this if it isn't then I will be disappointed because we will not see graphics like this on consoles for another 8 years when ps5 is announced

Watch the video like 3 times over...with every passing view gathering more excitement and appreciation for all the awesome compact on the screen in one go

1.Cloth looks real soft on the uniforms....textures are spot on

2. Lighting is in a league of its own also....the shadows the sun the way lights pass through smoke and the environments combined with weather effects like the wind blowing the particles and smoke and dust.the water and the reflections...the way the water move across the windshield as the car moves and the wind is moving the molecules of water up the windshield is so immersive.

3. Destruction is at its best, the way stuff blows up is realistic and gorgeous to look at. Fire isn't exaggerated and is mixed with dibree and it really looks scaled to realistic damaged with grenades from the launcher..

4. Animations are what I enjoyed the most....the way the characters move during set pieces and auto pilot scenes are impressive but what impresses me most are the movements of characters getting shot at and reacting to bullet hits.although I was unimpressed with the shot gun reload animation it was lame and didnt follow through with all the other great animations...the rifle reload animations were great sad not to see the shot gun not looking the same.And the switching weapons animations happen to quickly...it should take more time to switch weapons and it take away from realism to almost instantly have a grenade launcher ready to shoot from wielding an assault rifle in the time frame it was done and then back to rifle.......

5. And one last nit pick is most games tend to make playable character a mute and not say anything like he is just the camara man in all that is going on around him...would be nice to see first person shooter give ur character well..............character let him makes sounds other than grunts and moans....I wanna hear his emotions and opinions cause I can't see them obviously from a first person perspect obviously....lets give em voices to get what DICE is going for...EMOTIONS.....can get that from a mute...far cry did this and it was refreshing and very impactful
