3D Tank Combat MMO "Project Tank" Launched

GameBox has finally announced the closed beta launch of the 3D browser-based tank MMO at PDT 5:00AM, March 26, 2013

The game combines the thrilling simulation of heavy-armor tank battles with meticulously recreated historical maps. And even with this amazing level of visual effects, the game requires no downloading and runs directly on your browser.

Project Tank brings players to the frontline to truly experience war with its amazing 3D engineering and graphics manipulation. There are over 10 fighting modes to bring players with varied gaming experiences. Gamers will also form alliances and teams to interact and cooperate with others. In team, the specialization is vital. Different duties of attacking, making strategies and defending will be divided for the win.

Damn real close. I play WoT everyday and it seemed they did have several maps from WoT.

When I was a kid watching an old video game show called Cybernet I once saw a tank game (Panzer something) and thereafter thought a Tank Combat game would be the coolest thing ever.

Now, it's not up my alley, but if that little kid ever wakes up and decides that's what he wants, this looks great for that.

I hope it succeeds because it's kind of niche and niche games that are as accessible to all players as opening up a web page could do so well if they are well made, easy to pick up and enjoyable for their core audience to play. Browser based games could go so far with IPs like this and Quake Live.

Hoping for the best here.

Gamebox & Wargaming duke it out - Gamebox accuses Wargaming of illicit competition and slander
