The Computer Gaming Evolution

With the next generation of consoles on the way, we are being promised new ways to be able to connect with others and more options when playing games, such as the built in share button in the PlayStation 4’s controller and the option to play games while they’re downloading. As gamers, we have to ask ourselves do consoles still provide an easier experience than computer gaming or does the flexibility and adaptive nature of computers ultimately make that experience superior?

of course consoles provide an easier experience...

for one, you don't have to fuss around with hardware/software compatibility, and it's not nearly as expensive/time consuming as building your own gaming PC. and let's be honest - no PC elitist would settle for bottom-of-the-barrel components.

And that is why you have sensible PC users who buy based on price/performance ratio.

And I have done the math behind it and long term with PC I ended up saving money due to the cheaper games, steam sales, games generally having a longer life span, not having to replace broken down consoles, pay for online (on xbox obviously).

It's initial cost is high but it becomes cheaper long term so long as you are a smart spender and not won over by shiny overpriced branded products *cough* Razer *cough*

Easy is defined by your technical knowledge as well because I found setting up a PC a breeze and I have never had a problem I could not fix nor have I had problems with games.

Consoles are more simple but there is no real need to compare, just enjoy what you have got first and foremost....or be greedy and buy them all like I did :D

its no were near a tie i play both console and pc and even though consoles are not problem free its still day and night compared to pc plug and play. when have you ever purchased a console game and not been able to play it for example

Computers dont evolve, they just get stronger. Now console on the other hand.. Oh shit look! They're evolving now!! OMG OMG OMG

Well I'm just glad the last 5 years of consoles holding back game development will take a leap forward. PC games have had superior graphical fidelity all along but the core games are still designed to run on 2005 hardware with 512mb ram.

I'm so tired of hearing that consoles are holding back PC gaming. Developers will make games where there is money to be made. If they made money pushing graphics as far as they could go on PC they would do it. But they don't because the money made on consoles is too good to pass up. If PC gamers really want developers to push the over-priced hardware they need to demand that they do it. There are plenty of PC exclusives, Push those to the limits.

Something about recreating old school graphics in an era of HD high poly photo realism just hits a spot. I'm not nostalgic cause I mostly played GameCube and GB/A, but it's a visual style that gets over looked even by indies.
