Borderlands 2’s New Character is a Psycho

IGN:During a panel at PAX East today, Gearbox revealed Krieg, the sixth playable character for Borderlands 2. Krieg is a Psycho and will be available for $9.99 (800 Microsoft Points) in May.

He doesn't look like a vault hunter at all, I feel like no work has went into this at all. Plus melee...it's a game about guns, having a melee character seems pointless in my opinion.

A melee character was one of the most requested character types... And he'll still be relying on his guns most of the game. Otherwise they'd have to implement a whole new weapon set just for this character, and that's not going to happen.

I'm happy about this. Something different and something to get me back into the game.

they are increasing the level cap by 11. but its $5 but free for season pass people. april 2nd is the date

Everytime I hear something like this the gamer in me dies just a little bit more.

The original Borderlands was great, and most of the DLC really added to the game, so gamers supported Borderlands, bought the game and the DLC, and made it so Gearbox could safely release Borderland 2... and so it becomes Borderlands 2 is just a big money grab. Makes used games seem a lot more appealing I have to say.

Charging 5 dollars for raising the level cap only eleven levels is a major rip off....at first people payed 60 dollars plus tax for this game then for extra content people payed 30 extra dollars for the season pass or 10 dollars each dlc...that can be almost 100 dollars to play a game with a leveling up limatation that you have to wait months for to be raised & then to be charged for a limited level raise is a complete rip off!...I remember the days when you played a game in it involved level up at different levels you could do this to at least a leveling up to 99 or better.

Come on can we have anything free this is $10 and lv cap is $5. It feels like even if I buy a game I am subpar owner who only has access to a little bit of the game.

REally? For a game with the amount of options it has and replayability, I don't think your complain is all that reasonable. Sure, some companies nickle and dime us with DLC, but this isn't on that side, IMHO.

Even the basic, no DLC version of Borderlands 2 offers a whole lot of content, and gives more quality play time than many, many other retail games within the same price range.

Level cap upgrades are nickle and diming if it's not incorporated into DLC. It costs them nothing to allow us to increase our level, so why should we have to pay for that?

Because it's to help pay for the other features also coming at that time. Some of it free. The level cap increase isn't the only thing included in the patch/DLC.

"The cap will add 11 new levels (bringing the total to 61) and will be free to Season Pass holders (or $4.99 for everyone else).

Along with the level raise, Gearbox will also be adding a new weapon tier: Pearlescent. Pearlescent weapons were previously seen in the original Borderlands and will be the rarest loot in Borderlands 2.

On April 2nd, Gearbox will also offer a new mode called Ultimate Vault Hunter’s Mode as a free update to all players regardless of whether they’ve purchased the level cap raise. The mode will be available to anyone who has beaten True Vault Hunter Mode and reached level 50 and will have enemies scaled to the highest level in your party."

Not as creative as I thought it would of been, like some people are saying it looks like a badass. I'm sure he will be fun to use just hope the skill trees isn't cater too much of melee attacking. I'm more upset that the people who don't have the season pass have to pay $5 for additional 11 levels, raising the level cap should of came with one of the dlc they release.

I am actually quite surprised seeing the response so far. This guy looks like he is going to be fun as all get out.

I agree that it would have been cool if the the level cap increase was free for everyone, but I understand that it caused a lot of extra work for them to create. $5 isn't bad, and the fact that they added it to the Season Pass won me over (and may be why I am OK with it since it will be free for me).

I am still disappointed that the new Vault Hunter is going to be $10, but I guess Gaige kind of was too. I still don't understand how you have a "Season Pass" without including all the DLC within it. I understand that they were very specific and up-front with expectations, but still.

Either way, I'm really excited to get back into the game.

Did no one search the gameplay on YouTube? While he may look like a run-of-the-mill badass psycho, he's actually shaping up quite nicely. The tree combines all the psycho elements. His action skill let's him run around with an axe, and throw axes. Every kill refills his health completely while using the skill. Then one skill changes the boring fight for your life mode, into detonation mode. Krieg can run around throwing dynamite, like a suicide psycho, and end it by detonating next to an enemy by holding square. Which then gives you a second wind. Another tree completely focuses on fire damage. This includes fire breath. Krieg is shaping up to be a badass.
