No you haven’t stumbled on the wrong article, nor is this an error from our end. This is indeed our review of God of War: Ascension. But what does that iconic quote from last year’s Far Cry 3 have anything to do with it? Well, surprisingly, everything.

God of War: Ascension is the second in the series on the PS3. Considering that each game was infinitely better than the last, I was skeptical about how it could ever top the sheer insanity that was God of War 3. And if you’re not looking to add another God of War game to your collection, you’ll be relieved. Well, at least not for the single-player.

Lets take a look at what you're saying and see if it's got any merit. I'm going to list all the God of War games that SONY have published for the PS3 and their release years.
God of War Collection 2009 (Ps3)
God of War III 2010 (Ps3)
God of War Origins Collection 2011 (Ps3)
God of War Saga 2012 (Ps3)
God of War Ascension 2013 (Ps3)
There has been a God of War game released on the ps3 in one form or another each year since 2009. Sounds like a yearly cash grab to me, especially since 3 out 5 of those games are just re-releases of previous games. If that doesn't say cash grab, I dunno what does.

Comparable to how Steam does a lot of their "bundles".

Is it considered milking when Valve puts together their games and release them at a much lower price on Steam? Only difference is these are physical bundles and what Valve does is all digital.

we only got 2 real ps3 games on ps3 the rest are 2 psp games and 2 ps2 games

halo games on xbox360 (alone) and non of them are HD ports :

halo 3
halo wars
halo odst
halo reach
halo 4

5 halo games on xbox 360 + i didn't count halo HD remake
2 halo games on xbox1
and still more to come on 720 confirmed by MS and 343!

Not sure what Halo has to do with this Ezz, if you ask me if MS cashes in on Halo I'd admit it very easily. They do. Sony does the same with God of War but worse so because they re-release the same games more than once.

2 PSP God of War games
2 PS3 God of War games
2 Remaster collections
1 Saga collection.
They've cashed in on the GoW IP 7 times since 2008. 7 times in 5 years.

Fact is:
Last Handheld Generation (PSP) - Chains Of Olympus, and Ghost Of Sparta.

Current Console Generation (PS3) - GOWIII, and Ascension.

Re-releases are just bundling up all the games together so the customer can by them ALL at a low price. Same EXACT THING that Valve does. JUST IN PHYSICAL FORM.

Not everyone owns a PSP, so your logic is kind of flawed. If they all came out on the ps3, then you could have an argument. But if we were to look at the ones that came out in consoles, we've only seen four entries, spanning two consoles. Unlike gears of war where there have been four entries on one console.

But I really don't understand what it is about the game, for it is better than previous console entries in every aspect.

So you basically just said that CoD, Halo and AC do indeed milk, so that is milk. Plain and simple. But then you proceed to call out GOW for also being milk, but in a worse way? Ooookaaaayyy... So what would you say, is the milk creamier in Sony land?

Where the actual difference lies, numb-skull, is that the outcome of a franchise is dictated by their current offerings, not their "repackagings".

God of War's offerings this gen have been 2 original games on PS3. 2 original games on PSP. One in 2008, two in 2010 and one in 2013. How these games are sold is Sony's BUSINESS. You might as well call Valve the kings of milk for putting on bundle sales on games. It's the same sh*t on a different day on a different platform. But those of us with more than a spec of dust in our noggins know that what Valve does, they do to make more money. Is it to the detriment of their franchises? Hardly. Is it a detriment to their consumers? Hardly. Yet as far as Sony is concerned, they can't do business unless it's on your terms of what is considered "milking", right? Funny that.

If you actually understood business, you'd know that the portable and home console market are different... MARKETS. Remastering happens in the film and television business too. It's called "HIGHER-DEFINITION". Perhaps you're not used to that, or just don't know enough about the industry, but as far as the industry is concerned, double-dipping is a consumer choice.

The fact that on technical merit, Ascension is at least as good as God of War 3 and that it offers something new (multiplayer) despite the shouts of "more of the same", whilst other franchises get away from the same criticism scott free?

Notice how Assassin's Creed Brotherhood got resounding acclaim for its inclusion of multiplayer, despite the fact that it wasn't as good a game as AC2. See where the hypocrisy lies? People will focus on what they want to downplay at any one moment.

Yeah come back to me when you've actually played GOW: Ascension to know that it is nowhere near 6/10 in terms of quality.

Reviews are supposed to speak to the entire market, not just fans of the series who might or might not be fatigued by the game's signature traits.

So few critics are good at their jobs. We've had some down-mark the game for a supposedly challenging section which was actually pretty easy, some complaining about a trophy taken out of context, most reviewers just won't judge the game for what it is and keep comparing it to past God of War games. If you play God of War: Ascension yourself you'd know it's a great game, anything less than a 8/10 is pure trolling, 8./10 is a fair score but I'd give it a 9/10.

Also God of War is milked? LOL! If 2 new games in one franchise per generation of consoles is milking then bloody hell, everything must be milked to death!

You can't count HD remasters because they're not exclusive, if you have a PSP/PS2 and bought the games for those systems you could just go and play the games on them instead of buying the HD remasters. The purpose of the HD remakes is so that people who don't own all those systems can play the entire series on their PS3. So shut up, Good_Guy_Jamal and like-minded morons.
