I'm loving how much of an improvement they did to his face and hair though.

in general it looks like the faces and hair are much more detailed. Lulu in particular has much more detail in her hair.

True. I thought it was just the bump in resolution that made the details more apparent but now seeing this side by side there are detail that are totally missing from the original game. So they did actually updated the models...

I wish that instead of the pointless FFX-2 they would have gave us FF12 instead.

For me, the most impressive thing shown in these images (aside from just how much work they've put in...because THAT'S the real most impressive thing), is the environments. The environments look to have more work put in than even the character models.

Though I do maintain that for some reason Auron looks better in the original. Obviously not more clean and detailed.....but idk....he just looks better in the original. More bad-ass for whatever reason. But everything else is just top notch. And just the basic stuff has been shown so far, I can't wait to see the enemy, boss and summon model improvements, not to mention just the effects for spells and what-not.

Amazing stuff. I havn't been impressed with Square in a LONG time, but between what they've done with FF14, and now this....and even though I'm not a Kingdom Hearts fan, they seem to have done a good job on that as well......Square seems that they may hove gotten their **** together a bit.

Look at the 2nd screen comparison. The OG PS2 version is darker, while the HD Remake is lighter. Aaron looks the same, but he's now compressed and the new lighting makes him look less intimidating than on the darker lighting (at least for me)

I want to see a comparison between the Vita and the PS3. Sucks the Vita wont get the bundled X-2.

Square Enix is a lot better at churning out the HD version of PS2 games compared to Crapcom.

the article says this will cost $40 but doesn't specify if that's the ps3 or vita version..is it safe to assume the price of the vita version will be will be $40? im guessing the ps3 version that comes with x-2 will be $50 then

Doubt it.... Every hd collection has been 40 mgs hd 3 games, jak and daxter 3 games both 40 :-) maybe vita would be less considering x2 is being sold separately

FF X was good, but not gonna play it again, not for 40$.
I still have the ps2 disc and a bc ps3, and I can play it in HD on pc emulator for free.
Don't care about x2, it was to gay for me.

Only trophy addicts are buying HD remakes.

I have FFX that I can play on my PC in "HD" as you say. Yet it's nothing compared to this. No matter how much you bump up resolution, the models and textures will be the same. Meaning that while it's clearer for sure, it won't be nearly as polished as this HD remaster. Not to mention this is the international version (I believe). Also it's a chance to give Square Enix a wake up call. If more people buy this than the XIII series, perhaps they'll reassess what they've been doing this generation.

It will be almost the same, no big difference, believe me.
And it is free, so it wins no matter what ;-)
I would recommend this HD remake only to people who missed the original game.
Btw somehow I like the original character look more, faces.
Anyway what's the difference in the international version?

That's a little funny lol if you have the PC emulator then you should have the FFX international version, which is JAP but the language can be changed to english. No, people disagree with you (me) because your comparing a emulation to an actual conversion. I have the PC emulator, and my PC has two AMD cards with crossfire active. No matter how much, AGAIN no matter how much you pump the graphics into FFX, or w/e tutorials they give, it will NOT be HD period, people say it's HD cause they try to make things more clear on the PC, but that does not mean its HD, it just means your video card is giving it a boost nothing more nothing less. And damn right I will pay for both, don't call people who work and spend money on what they want dumb cause in the end, im sure you do the same.

There IS a big difference, LOOK at these screenshots. If you can't tell the difference, you need to get your eyes checked man. The character models, backgrounds, and terrain textures have all been significantly improved. I have a great gaming PC, enough to run FFX with the highest settings possible on my emulator (just as I've done with other games). However as I stated above, it will NEVER improve textures.

Also, calling people gay, trophy whores, or dumb is just stupid in itself. Just because YOU don't want to pay for the game doesn't mean we're wrong for doing so. Yes I do still own a PS2 copy, as well as my rom on PC. However, I'm putting my money towards this to show Square Enix what kind of games I want in the future. I want Final Fantasy to return to what made it so great in the past. Also, I consider this game a classic personally. Perhaps I just want to own any version of it I can get? Does that make me stupid for spending my money as I see fit?

I have the emulator on PC and the difference is literally like night and day between the native resolution and when you crank it up to 6x native. I looks like a brand new game. I don't know how well the HD remix will be but I don't think Kte has played the game at 6x or you wouldn't be so ready to dis anyone who says the emulation is comparable to these screens. They don't look that good to me but I will reserve judgement until the game actually comes out. Oh and for the record, 6x native was 480p for this game IS HD.

Emulated, the game wouldn't nearly be as stable as this will be. Plus, you need a monster PC to actually emulate ps2 games, which a lot of people, myself included, don't have.

And yeah, people make good points about the polish and texture revamping this is getting, so for me it's either shell out over a grand for a PC that can emulate Ps2 games, or pay like 20-25 for the game. HMMMMMMM.

I must say that I'm impressed that they improve not just the in game graphics but the FMVs also, didn't expect from them to go so far, all in all looks very impressive now is the time for all the ppl who still didn't play this gem to get it & enjoy it with upgraded graphics/videos in full HD I'm sure the experience will be unforgettable like it was for me many-many years ago.

because FF7 is a PS1 one. The background are pre-rendered which mean that they have a fixed resolution and updating the models would mess up the overall proportions of the game.

In fewer words, it would take more work.

I'll be getting the PS3 version just because it includes both games. I'll probably pick up the Vita versions when it drops in price. I originally wanted the Vita one since i kinda like playing RPG's on it, but two games for $40 is too good to pass up.

Also I feel like the Vita version will make a nice addition to my games collection. It's likely to be limited in release and well wanted down the road.:)

i agree that its best getting the PS3 version for both games in HD but i REALLY want FFX HD for my vita.. Its going to be great having that game for on the go play.. Ill pick it up for vita 1st, & then get the PS3 version after a price drop.. If the vita version is priced good of course.. I liked X-2 but it was a bit on the cheesy side (all the dancing/singing) imo so id rather just get X on vita for now..

I hope that in the PAL release Tidus won't run like a slow motion Shoopuf. For some reason he ran a lot slower in the PAL release than NTSC back in the days.

If your outputting with HDMI then PAL/NTSC formats play no part in the display. I'm not sure about analog HDTV formats, but I'd imagine your TV can compensate the frame rate difference.

On the other hand, external frame rate had very little to do with internal game frame rate, so I dunno. If i had to guess if you are still using a PAL SD display, then the PS3 is doing down-conversion in order to display it, which happens after the frame is drawn.

Looks nice but in the opening with tidus the original has better emotion in his face, they've got to capture everything right not just up the resolution, I love ffx one if not the best final fantasy ever for me, I know il get disagrees here but images speak for themselves

I"m glad my favorite final fantasy of all time is getting the spotlight treatment on n4g, such a beautiful game that I think every JRPG fan should try. It has one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard in a video game, and to this day I still listen to "to zanarkand", it sends shivers down my spine just thinking about it.

While the HD version looks better, it also looks more unnatural. Is anyone else noticing the lack of shadowing? While shadows are still there, they look far more life like in the original FF10 while they're severely lacking in FF10 HD.

I never got to see the ending of x because after the last boss battle the game would keep freezing due to my disc being scratched. Anywhooo, I want this for Vita. Hopefully the PS3 and vita versions are the same

Make no mistake, SE have extremely talented people working for them. Just look at their Luminous engine. At least they are doing FFX justice. SE's problem is their business strategy. They have nearly ruined the FF series by changing the formula to one that they think appeals to a western audience. Instead, they are destroying the series. This and Versus XIII is a chance to redeem themselves with FF fans and hopefully A Realm Reborn turns out to be good also.

Tidus' new face looks like it he has a smaller cranium. Or is that because of the wrong aspect ratio on the old pic? I kinda prefer a bit of a wider face.

Everything looks good.. EXCEPT the shadowing.. The new ones look too washed out compared to the old pictures.

The closest thing I can relate it to today is SSAO on and SSAO off.

At least for the VITA it will look better because of BLACK crushing issues and on the PS3 you can tweak the image too (you can fiddle with TV black levels and contrast).

Can't wait for this HD awesomeness, hope it comes with both International version for each game, specially FFX-2! That called Final Fantasy X-2 International + Last Mission, if that happened oh my god nerdgasm!! Also hopes it comes with a HD version of the prologue of FFX-2, Eternal Calm and of course trophies support, but GOOD Trophies Support like beating all dark aeons, not like arrive in besaid for the first time or stuff like that lol. This may be a bit of a fan boy talking but online play on the blitzball and give the intire gameplay a overhall right?
