Opinion: 5 things the PS Vita needs to be revived

The Vita is a great bit of tech, but it is severely under-performing at the moment, which isn’t fair.

The article describes 5 points that would dramatically help the Vita

TheLyonKing4051d ago

1. It doesn't need reviving
2. A price drop has already shown how well it can stimulate sales
3. Articles like this just need to go away.

Good_Guy_Jamal4051d ago

Price drops always stimulate sales when they first occur. Question is sustainability. 3DS outsold the Vita again by 2:1 this past week in Japan.

izumo_lee4050d ago

Yeah but the 3DS is still cheaper over there & there are 2 models for people to choose from. The Vita doesn't have to win the 'war', all it needs to do is do what the PSP did.

Take market share away from Nintendo. If it has higher sales occasionally than that is a bonus. Also if some people think that huge sales gap that the 3DS has on the Vita is insurmountable...let me remind people that the 360 had a 10 million lead on the PS3 once upon a time. So don't count your chickens before they hatch.

Paul_Murphy4050d ago (Edited 4050d ago )

It's not about a war. It's about finding an identity, and an audience. Who cares if it is outsold by the 3DS in this "war". Great games, on great systems benefits gamers.

And did anyone really think that the Vita was going to outsell the 3DS?

sherimae24134050d ago

is bragging about sales all you have to do.....

what i want is the vita to sell fine, competetively with the 3ds it doesnt need to outsell the 3ds, just doing a better sales
will give a better support for developers

and as a portable gamer, i will be very happy
besides the vita gives me a lot of variety in games ^_^

Lvl_up_gamer4051d ago

So since the Vita was outsold in Japan last week 2:1 against the 3DS even though the Vita had a price drop and the 3DS has been on the market longer resulting in shrinking market, your conclusion that sales for the Vita are stimulated by price drops....so are we to expect a price drop every week in order for the Vita to sustain sales? Because as of right now, that price drop only helped the Vita for an extremely short period of time.

sunnygrg4050d ago

The PSV is already on steroids. You should judge a console by its games, not by it sales.

yeahokchief4050d ago (Edited 4050d ago )

I agree with simba here 100%.

Price cut it to $200 and you can have my money.

This article is invalid. All those things are all pretty much inevitable. And what does he mean the vita needs PS4 integration when Sony clearly stated that the PS Vita will be fully integratable with it already? It would be stupid for Sony not to drop the price worldwide by E3, along with a plethora of new games. Sales will utterly SKYROCKET if this happens and once the PS4 comes out, OH LAWD don't get me started!

Viper74050d ago

Why stuff like this even gets approved?

And no, only thing Vita really needs is games that sell well in Japan. Handheld games market is pretty much dominated by the Japanese.

Theyellowflash304050d ago

I don't understand the constant steam of doom for Wii U and Vita. They both needs games, that's it. Just games. The Wii U finally got some games this month so things look to be getting better. And once the Vita price drops hits this E3, you should see a increase in Vita sales.

sherimae24134050d ago

i dont understand it too oni-chan....
but atleast we both know that this two system will be fine
like you said all it needs is games, and games will come eventually ^_^

sdozzo4050d ago

Fun games. Imagine if it had game sales like Steam.

Original Final Fantasy 7 - Is it Worth Playing in 2024?

Final Fantasy 7 has come back under the spotlight thanks to the release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, but is it worth replaying the original?

ravens5213d ago

Got to Zacks part in 7 Rebirth. Said f it. Finishing my game in 7 og. Just got to part 2 yesterday. I also got Crisis Core... So it'll be a while before I'm back to Rebirth. I just keep thinking about it too smh, want to get back to playing it. Not till I know Zacks story though. I beat 7 og sooooooo long ago, it's crazy going through it again and remembering things.

MrNinosan13d ago (Edited 13d ago )

Got to Zacks part in Rebirth?
You mean you started the game and turned it off?
The game starts with Zack...

ravens5213d ago

... Really 🤓 lol. His second part, I've played for 80hrs lmao. <---- PS5 Run time, probably not all game time. You guys know how it goes.

VIK212113d ago (Edited 13d ago )

Did you not ever play the OG FF7? After you recruit Vincent, later in the game, disc 3, return to that basement and look at the pod, there's a whole Zack story that'll trigger as a memory.... it's well hidden in the game and a lot of things regarding Zack are cleared up. FF7 Crisis Core is basically an extend feature of that hidden flashback... It took me years to discover it back then lol

@ravens52
80 hours in Rebirth by doing everything, and you should've reached Zacks story about 5 times 🤣

ravens5212d ago

Ye I kno that's y I said not all gameplay time. But also I am very anal when it comes to exploring.

ravens5212d ago

Not to mention fighting Titan at his full strength. Hours spent trying still haven't succeeded. Found all 3 ruins but I'ma masochist when it comes to games.

Barlos13d ago

Very much so. Graphically it's dated but the story and the gameplay haven't aged a day. It's still one of my all time favourite RPGs and for me is better than Remake in some ways.

Barlos13d ago (Edited 13d ago )

It always takes me back to Christmas 1997, I got it as a gift and I was blown away when I played it. I couldn't believe games could look that good. The combination of pre rendered backgrounds and FMV really made it stand out. It definitely still has a certain charm that modern games can't replicate.

I can't imagine people will still be talking about Remake and Rebirth in 27 years.

Tapani13d ago

Fully agreed. To me the atmosphere, pacing, gameplay and music are all better than in the remake.

Rebel_Scum13d ago

Yes, play this, skip remake, start rebirth for new players.

I_am_Batman13d ago

Skip Remake? That's terrible advice.

leahcim13d ago

Remake is so amazing, pure FFVII Love, play it on PS5 please! aww the graphics the battles, the music... a dream come true.

Rebel_Scum13d ago (Edited 13d ago )

I disagree Batman
