Can The Next Crossover Game NOT Be a Fighter?

GXC: "It seems that some game companies are set on continuing the ever-increasing trend of crossover games. When it comes down to it, it’s good fan service. For a while, it was a novel idea. Yet, now I feel like I’m a little tired of crossovers. At least I’m a little tired of crossovers that are fighters. I think it’s time that publishers mix it up a bit more – If they want to make a crossover game, make it something fresh and amazing."

Square-Enix in particular has some great crossover possibilities. DLC in Sleeping Dogs has shown just that. It would be interesting to play Sleeping Dogs 2 and have Agent 47 appear throughout the game. I just think Sleeping Dogs is gritty enough to pull it off.

Jobesy4047d ago

How about a Disney/Star Wars crossover? Very possible now.

ive always wanted a tomb raider /uncharted,but theres a huge issue it would be on PS only, and i dont think square may do it, and halo/metroid can never happen for obvious reasons, heres crossovers id love to see
uncharted/tomb raider
sly, ratchet, jak,a real one not PSABR or that move bs
prince of persia/assassians creed
crash/spyro,a real one not the GBA bs,though it will never happen now
infamous/prototype

Not necessarily. If Square Enix and Naughty Dog both made a game with their respective engines you'd have a chance to see Nathan Drake on an Xbox 360 console at that point. That is if Sony would allow the character on the system in that regard which I don't think they'd pass up the opportunity to make loads of cash. I was thinking of a Tomb Raider/Uncharted crossover as well. One that is made by Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics and the other one can be made with Sony and Naughty Dog. Two separate stories from both companies that have both Lara and Drake coming together on two big ass crazy adventures.

One in the vain of Uncharted and one in the vain of Tomb Raider. Bring Lara Croft to Drake's world and bring Drake to Lara's world. That would be SO damn cool to play. An adventure that has Lara finding Drake on an adventure in his own world and have her play out of her element in Drake's environment where there's crazy ass shootouts and whatnot. Then bring Drake to Lara's world in order for him to return the favor in her helping him on his adventure and he'll have to contend with surviving and exploration and actual puzzles that don't just give you the answer lol.

I think it'd be a really good idea and Sony and Square Enix need to seriously consider it.

You mean vein. Vain has to do with vanity.

rocky0475864047d ago

Making a spelling mistake calls for a disagree @Canary? Really? Lol.

lodossrage4047d ago

Some crossovers were already made that weren't fighters.

A perfect example is Namco X Capcom. It was a rpg for the PS1. One of many never released outside of Japan though

ThatMiamiGuy4047d ago

Yeah, it says that in the article....

lodossrage4047d ago

When I see "opinion" rather than article or news, I don't really bother to read them.

Hicken4047d ago

Isn't the next crossover game the Fire Emblem x Shin Megami that's coming to Wii U? I doubt HIGHLY that it's a fighting game.

ThatMiamiGuy4047d ago

Read the article. It talks about crossovers already made that aren't fighters and more that are currently in development.

The Best Tomb Raider Games Ranked

We've gone on many adventures with Lara Croft. With another reboot in the making, Wealth of Geeks felt it was a good time to go down the nostalgia rabbit hole and remember the best of those tomb-raiding thrills.

I do agree that Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness was the worse one 😂 I remember playing some of it and I took it back. That game was just awful in every way. I bought it used at gamestop and glad they had that 7 day return policy for used games 😂

Pyrofire9555d ago

Would it be worth saying why?

ZeekQuattro55d ago

Simple. He's been hating on the Tomb Raider reboots for years. I can't imagine seeing them at the top of a best TR game list let alone being on the list in general sitting well with him because of it.

-Foxtrot54d ago

Zeek

“Hating”

No no, just pointing out how TR mutated into a generic action adventure game losing the appeal of what it once was when it was more about puzzles and platforming over going Rambo, slaughtering waves of enemies

But hey, continue being a dick and speaking about me like I’m not going to see the comment.

MeatyUrologist54d ago

Foxtrot, I'm curious if you have played the most recent games. Sure the 2013 reboot was hugely focused on combat, but each follow up became less and less about combat to the point where outside of a few large scale story missions I don't even remember combat being a part of shadow of the tomb raider. Shadow was so puzzle focused it actually was a bit much for me and I love the TR puzzles.

I still feel like Rise was the best of the series and I was a huge fan of the originals. To me it struck the perfect balance of exploration, platforming, puzzles, and combat. Not saying your opinion is wrong I'm just curious what you think they should have done different. Games do need to evolve somewhat to stay relevant. Would you prefer small linear jumping platform levels like the original?

RavenWolfx55d ago

I would agree Rise for 1 and the reboot as 2. Shadow is a bit high, though.

Sonic188155d ago (Edited 55d ago )

I think Shadow wasn't even develop by crystal dynamics. I thought it was the worse in the new trilogy

Pyrofire9555d ago

That's right. Shadow was developed by Eidos Montreal who who went and made Marvels Guardians of the Galaxy next. (Great game)
Meanwhile after Rise of the Tomb Raider, Crystal Dynamics made Marvels Avengers. (bad game)

MeatyUrologist55d ago

Agrees. First two are correct but Shadow should be around 5-6.

terstomp55d ago

For me, Legend should be alot higher (along with the other two ). Shadow, I enjoyed it, but has too much has fluff, as modern games tend to do. Playing the remastered series, and apart from the controls, is very good.

jznrpg54d ago

I really enjoyed the first 2 games, Legend and the first of the reboots and the rest I didn’t get into so I never finished.

robtion54d ago

Completely subjective list. I really liked Underworld, I preferred Lara's design. That said I loved the horror/uncharted feel of the reboot. I think all the TR games have strengths and weaknesses. None are objectively better in every way.
