Playeressence's Furious Francis discusses how some of his favorite gaming franchises, have been diluted by the inclusion of online multiplayer.
Based on one narratively fitting ending in Mass Effect 3, Prothean squadmate Javik is highly unlikely to return in the next Mass Effect game.
He was one of my least favorite characters. I wish they would have done the Proths different.

God of War's forgotten multiplayer mode was introduced nearly a decade ago, but it may have been a great addition if it was implemented now.
Not saying it was perfect but I really enjoyed it. One of the more unique MP experiences. Wouldn't mind them trying again.
Maybe not in every case. Some games are developed with two separate teams creating each mode. Though in other cases (usually ones with smaller budgets involved) it can negatively be impacted one way or the other.
Not every game needs to be Halo or CoD and some are outright better off without some tacked on online multiplayer mode. Now on the flip side, take Nintendo's games which now often do have good quality multiplayer... but often no online functionality. There's a flip side to every coin, ladies and gentlemen. This is one of them.
I think it would be ideal of companies started open surveys years before implementing any major features that cost time and money.
For example, would you all rather have a much longer singleplayer experience, cooperative play, or multiplayer?
I personally think there is something unique there with the current multiplayer. Naturally, I have only had a few hours of quality time with it, but I am thrilled it isn't another FPS game (FPS fatigue - that's all).
However, I'd love to see a GoW game with coop that does not interrupt the experience that is already here. Can you imagine climbing a Titan with a buddy? That would be...well, insane!
If they had asked the question several years ago I might answer no. It's great having to extend the gaming experience. Now, though, almost every games must have multiplayer aspect just so the publisher/developer can tack on some social features and mp DLCs.
Just look at Max Payne 3 and Tomb Raider. Both were originally singlplayer games but now their reboots both have multiplayer. MP3 has tons of DLCs...skins and map packs only. There was a noir filter for all game modes but that's much to get excited about since you'll just be replaying the singleplayer all over again with no new content. Recently it was announced that Tomb Raider's DLCs will be for multiplayer content only. There's nothing wrong adding mp for these two games but the mp-only DLC plans for them virtually cut out any content for extra singleplayer experience.
if devs would stop wasting resources tacking on mediocre MP functionality, and focusing more on making a better single player experience, i'd be all for that.
GOW MP was a bad idea, and should never have happened.
personally, i love the single-player aspect of games (or typically campaign), and what i miss most are those full-on 2-4 player games (or recently co-op). so my take would really be that companies should look into what fits into the game and what doesn't. some games are just made for single-player experience; some would benefit a full co-op mode as well; while some may or may not feel natural with multiplayer modes. i've seen a couple of games wherein multiplayer feels like it was just "forced" into the game, just so you can have "multiplayer" in it.
