5 Reasons You Should Care About Destiny

Game Punch: Since Bungie started leaking out details about Destiny in November 2012, I have been aching to find out more about this game. Bungie, best known for their innovative Halo series, have been a hallmark of Microsoft’s endeavours in gaming, so when they announced they were leaving Halo behind for brighter pastures many gamers wondered what they were possibly going to do next. An RPG? A strategy game?

If this is released at launch, I am willing to predict that it will dominate. This game will be unique and engaging from what I have seen. It will be lest Halo, more Mass Effect, yet it seems that the planets will be more populated and detailed than ME. This is the game and the Witcher-3 are the games I looking forward to the most so far.

HyperBear4052d ago

I'm not so sure about right at launch with the next consoles. Bungie hinted at the possibility of launching Holiday 2013, but Activision quickly turned it around saying doubtful for 2013.

OT: There's only one reason I need to care about Destiny: "Developed by Bungie"

RTheRebel4052d ago

Totally, this game hopefully redifines the FPS genre I have total trust in Bungie.

1. Bungie is not changing what a MMO is!

You Silly Editor the PC has MMO's of every type and genre. Then you go on saying Bungie is gonna change what a MMO is BUT you provide NO FACTS as to how.

Matter of Fact Eve Online is completely controlled by Gamers and is the most revolutionary MMO ever.

Then you have the MMO OtherLand where all the worlds are Gamer created.

2. Now enough of that, I'm curious as to what Bungie's Destiny will be and hopefully it will be fantastic and give consolers an Excellent MMO/FPS/RPG

3. MMO means Massive Multiplayer Online! that's it, nothing more!

Doesn't mean it has to be WoW or Guild Wars 2. A MMO can be every Genre imaginable!

Wizziokid4052d ago

I'm very excited to see more of this, will be going straight into my PS4 that's for sure!

Root4052d ago

I'm excited but not liking the sound of the fact you always need to be online, especially with a game like this which would be as good playing solo offline.

After the SimCity thing I'd rather not be forced to stay online

SJPFTW4052d ago

what part of "Massice Multiplayer Online" do you not understand? LOL

Root4052d ago

and they can't make a single player to it after they created Halo....an amazing single player experience

KillrateOmega4052d ago (Edited 4052d ago )

I understand where you are coming from here, I really do, but I gotta disagree. This is one game where I don't want to see a purely single-player experience available. The fact that it is so multiplayer-oriented and connected is part of its appeal. Having a purely single-player experience almost seems like it would detract from this.

It's different from the typical shooter experiences as of late (CoD, Battlefield, Halo, etc.). This, being a good thing.

MysticStrummer4052d ago

"It's different from the typical shooter experiences as of late (CoD, Battlefield, Halo, etc.). This, being a good thing."

Absolutely right. I would be much less interested in Destiny if it was a typical shooter. The "always online" game is something I want to see a lot more of. I don't want single player games to go away, but there is lots of potential here. Defiance is a bit like this but on a much smaller scale. I imagine something with the combat of Demon's/Dark Souls in a much bigger world with many players could be very cool also.

KillrateOmega4052d ago (Edited 4052d ago )

My thoughts exactly. There is so much potential here. I want them to take this heavy multiplayer/always connected focus all the way instead of half-assing it and falling into the realm of the typical.

On the matter of Demon's/Dark Souls, I would totally play a MMO-esque version of these games as well. God knows that there is a deep enough level of customization already there.

DigitalSmoke4052d ago (Edited 4052d ago )

There's not enough info on the game to justifie an opinion about it imo.
If its the fact that Bungi made another succesfull game, then i advice you to look at studio's who fail one after eachother after a succes.

Hope its good though.

Killing me with news. We are looking at 2014. Damn.

Bungie Replaces Marathon Director Amid Leadership Shakeup, Fears of Layoffs

Amid ongoing anxiety within Bungie following layoffs last year, the studio is now preparing for another shakeup, this time on Marathon.

Kaii27d ago

Layoffs should be hitting the incompetent management at this point.

Profchaos27d ago

Talk about mismanaged Bungie is a studio of tremendous potential and have made some of the greatest shooters to date. Sony pushed them to just make another Destiny style game and consult on other studios live service games and are now getting thrown under a bus as the pivot away from predominantly gaas games is unfolding.

I'd love to see a world where Bungie can focus on telling great sci fi stories again away from a live service dungeon but we all know that's a pipe dream

Rynxie27d ago (Edited 27d ago )

Are you serious? Do you just talk out of your arse naturally, or did it take years of being a POS?

Profchaos27d ago

You normally get so offended by internet comments or did it take years of being soft

purple10127d ago (Edited 27d ago )

Yes I see your point mate, someone clearly didn’t read the article.

Specifically the bit:

“Notably, multiple sources at the time and since have shared that Sony has largely left the studio to sort out its own troubles and was not responsible for the layoffs, with CEO Pete Parsons taking responsibility.“

He’s just spouting nonsense

Huey_My_D_Long26d ago

lol what so fucking hilarious is that you called him out so bad he projected him being offended onto you.

Its been well documented that Bungie's management has been more responsible for their shortfalls, even mentioned in said article that we are commenting on.

Its ok, just admit you didn't read the article.

MIDGETonSTILTS1727d ago

Arrowhead Studios will be Sony’s GaaS consult now.

Gameseeker_Frampt27d ago

I like how for some, it is never Bungie's fault. Microsoft, Activision, and now Sony - it is everyone else who is pushing Bungie to make all these bad decisions.

-Foxtrot26d ago

Thrown under the bus?

Are you joking? This is all Bungie, we all thought it was 100% Activision but it's clear the higher ups at Bungie don't have a clue how to run the studio and are more bothered about saving their own skin and the money that they rake in.

Sony gave them an extra $1.2 Billion to make sure that employees didn't leave and they didn't have to cut anyones jobs. Where did that money go because Bungie still cut peoples jobs and I bet you the higher management still kept a hold of their big fact paychecks and bonuses.

Sony invested poorly in this and the best thing they can do now is throw the old Bungie management out and take hold of the studio fully.

MIDGETonSTILTS1726d ago

Don’t throw the baby out with the bath water. Somebody at Bungie is the golden goose making great shooting mechanics, and the rest need to justify their paychecks.

This studio has had three owners and its never worked well with any of them....Management has issues

ChasterMies26d ago (Edited 26d ago )

Worked very well for Microsoft. Microsoft’s mistake was letting Bungie go.

Fearmonkey25d ago

it worked so well with MS that they so wanted to be away from them they bought the company back. Only to do it again with activision-blizzard, and then sold to Sony...Sony shouldn't have bought them...Bungie hasnt been the same for a long time..

As someone who bought every story DLC for DESTINY 2 but not every season. the first thing I would do as game director is , if anybody pre-orders The ?Final Shape , they will be able to play all older DLC and seasons with purchase of FINAL SHAPE. . I think that would bring back a lot of DESTINY 2 plsyers who have not experienced the seasons a chance to play season activities before Final Shape comes out.

DickyD122674d ago

I agree but I was just able to get all dlcs for 50 on steam. (Have it on PlayStation but don't always have access to the TV)
