Rumor: Final Fantasy X HD includes X-2 on PlayStation 3

The PlayStation 3 version of Final Fantasy X HD will include both Final Fantasy X and X-2 on a single disc, according to a 2ch rumor* picked up by FF-Reunion.

On PS Vita, each title will apparently be sold separately.

Each game will also include its respective International edition content, according to the rumor. A release is planned for 2013.

* The information supposedly comes from next week’s issue of Jump. According to FF-Reunion, the poster has a proven track record with these types of leaks.

dancing yuna on my vita!
hell yeah!

just make its price affordable ok like mgs collectons hd ^_^

TopDudeMan4048d ago

I couldn't care if it had X-2 on it. As far as I'm concerned that game didn't exist.

X was one of my favourites, but the sequel was just pure awful.

X-2 is still better than XIII, XIJI,2 and Lightning returns

-MD-4048d ago

You've played Lightning Returns?

Minato-Namikaze4048d ago

@ MD at some point bad things wont ever be good. FF XIII series (not including versus) is one of those games. These two games basically made me turn to tales as my go to JRPG franchise. Yeah they are that bad. But with this KH 1.5 and possibly including X-2 with X i'm hoping square realizes we dont want a western style rpg's in our FF.

Snookies124047d ago

@-MD- I haven't played it, but I can tell by the trailers it doesn't look good. I hope I'm wrong, but man those videos of it are bad...

X-2 is IMO the worst FF game ever made. I hope it's not included.

NatureOfLogic4048d ago

The international versions have so much extra content. If this is true I wouldn't think twice before buying this. I've always wanted to play those international versions. I put in over 180 hrs into FFX and to think there's more to unlock in the international versions is exciting. As for FFX-2, I wish we would've had a jrpg half this good this gen. It shows how much jrpgs have fallen. This game was once considered average, but it's great compared to most jrpgs we play today.

TopDudeMan4048d ago

You're right. Standards have definitely slipped.

DOMination-4048d ago

FFX in MY opinion was just a fairly average game as well. I know it might be an unpopular opinion but... FFX had abysmal voice acting, which I let off only because it was one of the first JRPGs to have it - they really should be re-recording the dialogue though. Apart from that, it had a poor lead character, a terrible and hard to follow story, corridor-linearity between towns that frankly was just as bad as FFXIII, no explorable world map, tedious side quests.

It had some excellent things too. The battle system was great, I liked the Al-bhed language, blitzball, the sphere grid mainly was pretty good, being able to go higher than 9999HP, etc. But there was more bad than good, just not up to the standard of 6-9 imo.

As for X-2 - I only played the first few missions and got bored. Maybe there's a good game in there somewhere but it didn't entice me enough to play it more. A nice bonus if it's thrown in for free though, you can't argue with that.

wishingW3L4048d ago (Edited 4048d ago )

FFX had branched maps while FF13 was literally a tube so the linearity is nowhere near the same. On top of that FFX has more diverse side-quests (for aeons and weapons), backtracking, exploration, towns, NPC's, shops, better customization, etc. So on that point you couldn't be more wrong. That it wasn't as open as FF7,8,9? True but FF13 was way more linear than FFX.

DragonKnight4048d ago

"FFX had abysmal voice acting."

No it didn't. It had a few awkward moments but to say that it had abysmal voice acting is an exaggeration.

"it had a poor lead character."

Your opinion. I thought that Tidus was a welcome change from the panzy ass Cloud and the mostly stoic yet eventually complex Squall. Zidane was a better lead for sure, but Tidus was a close second in terms of personality. Cecil Harvey is still the best lead character in the series.

"a terrible and hard to follow story."

The story was NOT terrible. And what was hard to follow? It was pretty much all laid out before you.

"corridor-linearity between towns that frankly was just as bad as FFXIII"

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! !! You either didn't play FFXIII or you're just lying. FFX may be "linear" but you could explore each area, talk to people, play Blitzball any time you wanted. These things made the game feel like it wasn't linear unless you put a strict focus on looking for it to be.

"no explorable world map, tedious side quests."

Airship and Blitzball. Plus, since side quests are completely optional, you can't say they are really tedious because you have a choice if you want to do them or not. And the Battle Arena was NOT tedious.

Geez, sometimes the FF naysayers sound like they are reading from a script of pre-approved negative things to say about FFVIII, and FFX.

-Gespenst-4048d ago

Oh you're so macho and serious and cool (sarcasm)

X-2 is a really good game. Excellent music, intriguing plot, and super fun battle system, and it was a joy to return to Spira.

Plus if it's the international version it might have Yadanoki Tower, been waiting years to play that.

DragonKnight4048d ago

The original idea for X-2 would have been better though. They were originally going to go for a Braska/Auron/Jecht prequel.

TopDudeMan4048d ago

@Dragon, that would have been much better.

-Gespenst-4047d ago

Never heard of that. Don't suppose you could provide a link?

It's a good idea though. Maybe they'll actually do it some day if these HD versions conjure up enough re-hype. I'f definitely play that.

I still really like X-2 though.

BlaqMagiq244048d ago

I'm guessin this would be the reason why it's taking so long. At least I hope it is. I would love to have both of these in a collection. I'll give Square a little respect if this is true.

Wizziokid4048d ago

I never played X-2, it never interested my as much as I loved X but I may give it a try if this is true.

contradictory4048d ago

go expecting alot of
"WHY???" in X-2

it's not that bad considering it's a bonus on FF X HD

LAWSON724048d ago

I know x2 aint very liked but who can complain about more especially when this was going to be overpriced anyway.

Yuji Naka guilty of insider trading breaks silence to accuse Square Enix producer of lies

Yuji Naka was fined $1.2 million and given a suspended jail sentence for the crime.

Profchaos8d ago (Edited 8d ago )

I find his comments around how Balan turned out to be very insightful as to why the game is trash. He basically apologises for its existence

solideagle7d ago

can you please give some of us who don't know anything about this, a summary of what happened?

Chocoburger7d ago

Balan was knowingly rushed out by S-E, it had an extremely short dev cycle and was fairly low budget.
Naka was the game's director until near the end when he was fired or perhaps he quit, I forgot.

carrotcakeag6d ago

@Chocoburger Yeah they did fire and replace him which caused him to unload a bunch of rants about the company. The project only existed because of Naka in the first place, he convinced Square to give him one shot at making a platformer. They gave him an opportunity but pulled the rug out before he was done for reasons not explained.
