5 Things Wrong with Saints Row IV

This article is dedicated to the true fans of the Saints Row series; the fans that have played the game since the beginning and the fans that realize how dramatic of a change the series took from who they were. This article is for those of you who would never dare call Saints Row a knock off of Grand Theft Auto and for the fans that are now feeling betrayed by the game they once dedicated themselves to. If this does not describe you and you jumped on the band wagon after Saints Row: The Third advertisements this article will more likely offend you than anything; so there is no need for you to keep reading. Volition sided with their new fans to gain profit. That was not a stupid choice for the company just a deceiving move to those of you that helped the company get to where they are today. For all of the fans that this does apply to; we are sorry for your loss. Also beware that this article will contain spoilers for Saints Row (1), Saints Row 2 and Saints Row: The Third.

Everything is worng with it. I hate every little thing about it. Volition is one dumb development team; ill tell you that much.

No true fan is going to throw down 60 dollars for that joke of a game.

It's not even a sequel...they are trying to make you pay the price of a full game when all it's basicaly an expansion/DLC. I mean they are taken the DLC they announced last year and even if they added more stuff onto it it's still only a year and a few months development.

Then there's the fact it's taken the over the top gameplay too far. When you think they could go back to what SR2 was like they decided to make it even worse.

They could of done a reboot after the buyout to start fresh but they missed their chance.

Although, knowing them, the game will have absolutely nothing to do with this trailer, so maybe I'll be dead wrong and this will be awesome!

Saints Row 3 looked, from the outset, like some silly metagame, and it kinda was. It was fun. This one doesn't seem to have any of that self-awareness if the ad is any clue. It looks like every target demographic cliche, sprayed on screen to Generic 2000's Rock Tune, gratuitously stuffed with Mountain Dew and Doritos.

I do agree with you, but this one looks a lot better then 3, still a joke of a game but better the 3. They don't change the formula they just add more stuff they think is funny, personally I HATED THAT GUY WITH THE SYNTHESIZED VOICE IN #3 omg I wanted to kill him so annoying!

Like I said before, Saints Row has lost its edge due to the lack of seriousness. loved the gang style warfare with minimum slap stick styled missions, the First one was a step towards a great series, two decent, but you can see the lack of polish in it. I skipped three once I heard the gang went commercial..... Than again, I should try it?

3 is a blast,it is over the top but that was a better direction for the series rather then just GT clone.

Except Saint's Row 2 wasn't just some GTA clone. It was missing some polish, but the game was great and had tons of potential for an even better sequel. People wanted a bigger and better SR2. Instead we got the gimmicky, stupid, way too over the top SR3. And now we're getting the SR3 Enter The Dominatrix DLC relabled as SR4. The DLC started development a year ago, and it's already coming out this August after 1.5 years of development at most.

Guaranteed, Deep Silver is rushing this game out the door before GTA V, but releasing only 3 weeks before GTA isn't going to make a difference. They're sending SR4 out to be slaughtered.

Are we sure that it is just a "glorified DLC"? I know that the final DLC for SR3 was turned into SR4 in early-mid 2012, but they definitely have added all sorts of other stuff as well. At least I hope... I think it'd be crazy if it only has the content of that planned DLC and not several other additions. It will probably be a complete game. (hopefully)

I like it and I plan to enjoy it for what it is rather than sit there bitching about how it's too silly, too over the top, so what. When I think of silly games this is one of the only, if not THE only video game franchise that comes to mind so I think it's okay to have a lot of over the top stuff in it.

i always seen SR and a funner more lively game from your regular 'gangbanger killer with connections to underground networks' its the saints when the people like brand it tends to expand. besides its fun not serious and fun with guns, cars, fighting. although its true it is more or less a DLC but i still love the saints. and SR4 im happy to get and play it.

Look at what they did to Red Faction, and that was even more of an underrated title. Volition is a fucking joke plain and simple. You would think with them no longer being under THQs terrible publishing standards they would of returned to the roots of these titles. Guess not.

The game is far from being released yet. Maybe it will turn out to be quite fun. Hell, all we have to go on so far is some teaser trailer.

Give it a chance. The SR games have always been fun and silly. It's what keeps them from being GTA knockoffs.
