I bought over 150games on Steam in these last 6 years.

A) they cost me much less then console versions, i might have saved USD 2-3K just because i bought them on PC and on Steam discounts.

B) Had i bought them for a console i would have been pulling my hair right now since i wouldnt be able to play them on the next box.

Console gamers may argue you can keep the PS3. Yes you can but what happens after it fails? Do i keep buying it again and again? What happens if i have games from the PS2 gen too? So now am i supposed to buy the PS2 and PS3 again and again just so i can maintain my library.

I would rather prefer 1 modern machine that plays it all. Sorry but i dont have the space for multiple boxes and their accessories mean while the cost to maintain so many boxes.

First its not cheaper, games are cheaper on PC. 600usd PC outperforms the PS4 as of today.

Does the PS3 run all games at high settings? No it doesnt, in comparison to PC, PS3 runs games in Low settings with no AA, blurry textures. Same will be the comparison for PS4.

PS4 maybe getting 2-3 good exclusives a year, not everyone likes all exclusives. PC has more exclusives than any console, you need to catch up.

Theres one reason I wont buy a PC. Its not price, because they're pretty close. Its not that the box under the TV (whatever your choice is) is designed to do just one primary thing - play games and developers have tools to make the most out of whatever power is in the box.

The reason is simply that I can drop £300-400 on a console this year and know that in 5,6,7+ years time that console will still be relevant. That the person over the street isnt going to have a more powerful Playstation or an Xbox with better graphics. Developers know whats under the hood and they know that every console of that type will be the same. Theres no minimum requirements on consoles, and because of this look at the quality of games they can make for consoles is of the highest level.

I dont slate PC players for their choice of gaming rig. Why do PC players insist on claiming superiority over consoles?

If a person is not excited about PlayStation exclusives, then they're not a very good gamer. I don't give a crap what your preferred platform is... if you're missing a platform, you're missing quality gaming experiences. Multi-plats are great, but many exclusives go above and beyond multi-plats because they can play to the specific platform's strengths.

@ T900 - if you think your $600 PC will stack up against a PS4. It's the mistake all PC-only gamers make when looking at specs, and its just as silly as claiming the PS4 will beat high-end PCs.

PC's have a huge barrier to reaching optimal performance through Windows (and yes, you could game on Linux, but then you'd be playing with less games than the PS4 will likely launch with :P). Then, on top of that, devs have to cope with numerous different hardware configurations, leading to far lower optimisation.

Even now, consoles perform far better, per dollar of cost - than PCs. Claim that a $250 PC that can give you visuals like God of War: Ascension or Halo 4 and they'll lock you in a loony bin. Tbh, I'd wager that $600 PC wouldn't actually give you much better, and it costs more than twice as much.

Then, of course, you have the extra work to make things work. The tweaking, the changing of .ini files, the selective patching and whatever else can (and often does) go wrong. One of the biggest reasons I prefer my multiplats on PS3 and Xbox 360 over PC (I have all three - PC for grand strategy and exclusives) is because I know the game will work every time. No hours of searching forums and trying different fixes just to get to the menu screen (hello Mass Effect, and Victoria 2).

Most exclusive PC games are low budget, and have little to no mass market appeal. The only PC exclusives worth getting excited for are Warcraft, Starcraft, League of Legends and maybe ARMA, and that's if you're into those types of games. If you want to be a PC only gamer, thats fine, but you're only depriving yourself from some of the best games in the industry by avoiding Sony's consoles.

I have a beefy PC I use for gaming as well as a PS3 and PS4 at launch. For FPSs and MMOs I stick to my PC. But for third person games, amazing PS3 exclusives, netflix on my big tv and splitscreen gaming, I prefer console. Bigger IP and exclusivity (timed or otherwise) on console in this PS3/PS4 transition year are a benefit imo. Have been for a while.

Critical PC IP like Diablo 3 seem to make their way to console with much more regularity. The reverse, not so much. The PC only *just* got Brutal Legend this year. Arkham City and Dark Souls came late as will other multiplats I've wanted like Metal Gear Rising, if it comes to PC at all.

Reinhard's own game and PC exclusive 'Painkiller: Hell and Damnation' (a 64% on metacritic) will also release on console in another month, but with better received FPS out there like Killzone, the PS4's Killzone:Shadowfall feels like a safer investment. Exclusive wise, consoles seem to have the benefit this year, Rein'.

What happens when a game like Skyrim, COD, Fallout, Farcry 3 releases on the PS4 and you have bad frame rates and the devs arent doing anything about it. You are stuck with no options.

Atleast on the PC you have the community making patches and fixes or you can upgrade to more powerful hardware to play the game. With console you are just stuck with your hands tied behind your back.

PC's will last a lot longer than 4 years... most definitely not on max settings though but at this point low settings now are better looking than what the current consoles can do. My friend was able to play BF3 on a i7(1.6GHz) laptop using the integrated graphics which weren't even close to reaching the minimum specs required for that game. The 560 is what most games recommend at the moment... the 680 being necessary to max out most games. A single 690 or a titan would last you through the next gen console life.

Most people buy PC parts according to brand and price which leads to constant problems, upgrades, and headaches. You have to look for the details like ram check it's clock speed, watts usage, amount. Power supply make sure it's certified preferably gold or silver, dual rail, number of watts it contains. When it comes to PC gaming is all about what the parts offer and that are compatible with one another. I really don't understand, why do people compare consoles with pc?
They are different products in the market just like, tablets, mobiles, televisions etc.
Ok, they both play games but nobody compares tablets with consoles and pc regarding graphics because people know that there is no comparison because every product can be different.
Secondly consoles are dedicated gaming machines and you can carry game discs and the consoles, where ever you go, for example you have a party at friend's house you don't need to setup them.
Thirdly, ease of excess, you just put the disc in the console and play, no error messages, no lengthy installation process, you don't need any prior knowledge just to play the game and there are no settings.

At the moment Sony is the only corporation that delivers excellent exclusives that are innovative or new ips, Microsoft just gears and halo and Nintendo same franchises from 1985 like Mario zelda and metroid. Ten there was the whole debate about the PS3 getting hacked which prevented PS3 gamers from playing online. I build my own Gaming rigs, as most us PC games do, but lets be real. Building an affordable PC gaming rig that will run anything is out of the question with the mass population, they just couldnt do it. They bearly know how to check their email.

The mass population is stuck paying for over priced Alienwares and other name brand junk, if they wan't to game on PC, costing them thousands.

You cannot honestly mean a consumor good will if you tell them that PC gaming is more cost effective then buying a flipping $400-500 console that will last them 6 years.

I'm a PC/PS3 gamer.

I upgraded my PC to run The Witcher 2 on ultra settings a couple of years ago.
The total upgrade cost was roughly $600.00 (Upgraded Graphic card, power supply (for graphic card) and memory). And I'm confident that it is now out of date for high-end PC optimized gaming.

This would never be the case for dedicated console gaming two years out. Further the PS3 has shown absolutely beautiful graphic rendering (see GOW A) 7 years post launch.

In short. It's good to support both.. however, we're are not comparing PC gaming to 8 bit systems anymore.

This type of PC elitism needs to stop.

Well said, indeed, Mikeyy. I agree with you completely. I have (at best) the semi-suggested requirements to run the games I have on my PC. I don't have the funds nor the time to go out and make my rig the all powerful gaming messiah that so many PC elitists claim to be the best option for gaming. I'm happy with what I have for my PC.

One would think that being happy with what you have would be enough to suffice a good gaming experience and not how much you paid to make a game seem realistic. For one there isnt any "one" gpu with 8Gb of GDDR5 Ram nor is there a consumer pc worth buying that has a secondary low(ered) power(ed) processor that handles all/most of the OS features/functionalities, thus making the system energy efficient, seeing that the Cpu will remain idle until it is needed...

And even then there isnt a pc worth buying/building that('ll) has/have a cpu that'll only focus on physics simulation, A.i., etc, not having to push games, and OS related features or functionalities AT THE SAME TIME...

Right but the PS4 doesn't have 8GB of GDDR5 dedicated to just graphics, the CPU and GPU are going to share it, and a decent portion of that memory will be dedicated to the operating system.

That's not to say that 8GB of GDDR5 isn't impressive for a console, but you cannot compare this to the Geforce GTX Titan's 6GB of GDDR5 (which is on an even faster memory interface) and act like it is better.

Did you miss the Sony presentation where they said they want Cross game chat, background downloading, more social features running in the background.

This uses up RAM. Sony will have to reserve at least 1-1.5gb of RAM even if you are a gamer that doesn't use all this. limiting themselves to 512mb for an OS AND all the background apps is asking for a disaster to happen.

How come PC gamers always seem to come across as a bit nerdy. Is there really any benefit to the high end resolutions your spouting about? could the human eye really tell the difference? HD at 1080p looks bloody brilliant, that's all gamers want.
Higher resolution does not mean better graphics. I'd rather enjoy the games than worry whether its playing on a resolution setting my eyes can't even differentiate from one another.

I would agree with you if you didn't say the bit about the resolution. There is a noticeable difference in quality and sharpness as screen size goes up or down. Everyone knows that Apple's Retina displays are wonderful as PPI goes up, which is what high resolution does.

Just a decade ago, I bet none of us thought that 1080p was useful as Standard Definition was the standard.

I play games like Unfinished Swan, Flower, and Journey along with GoW and Uncharted but not because their graphics are OMG INCREDIBLE!!! But because they're amazing experiences. When did graphics decide what system was better? Do some people not understand that not everyone likes playing games on a PC? I seriously cannot stand to sit and use a keyboard and mouse and sit in a chair looking at a 20 inch monitor, granted I know that I can hook up a regular television but you know what I mean.

I have been gaming on consoles since 1988 and I don't plan to stop anytime soon. I spent a ton of time building Achievements and Trophies and gathering friends and teammates online and I'm not going to switch to a format where there is no set standard.

Its as simple as this. I have a job, I work all day and in the evening I just like play a few games. It's either: turn on my tv (in the living room with a couch) then my PS3 and I'm ready to go. or: go to a separate room, turn on a pc, wait for it to boot up and then sit in front of a monitor.
Console gaming is just a more relaxed experience, it's gaming without hassle, for many in the world that's all we want.

I haven't noticed anyone mention this, but people tend to forget that console games are a lot more optimized to run on specific hardware. Yes, the hardware may not be as powerful, BUT, they are all the same. And I have a 1000$ PC and it doesn't run Tomb Raider (as an example) as well as my PS3 does. Yes, a full on gaming pc will always be GRAPHICALLY superior, but I cannot justify 2500$ to play games...

1. If your NOT a PC Gamer and you are NOT into PC Games then go buy a PS4

PC Gaming is different from console gaming. Sure we share a lot of multiplats but it's our Exclsuive Libraries and features that separate us.

PC is all about tailor fitting your Gaming Experience to your needs and a LONG List of PC only games that offer Gameplay, mods, tools, technology or features not yet on consoles.

PS4 is the one size fits all console experience, the SOny Exclusives, and the best Console gaming Experience you can get.

So there is a reason to get a PS4 over a gaming PC, you may be a Console Gamer who like SOny Exclusives and NOT enjoy PC Games! DUH!

PC Gamers dont realize a few major things about console gamers that they need to learn now.
1. Console gamers have a reason for getting a console other than just graphics. Usually it is the experience in a game that you can get on other platforms such as a PC or even other consoles. There is games like Heavy Rain, Journey , Flower, Beyond Two Souls that because of the way they are played that they wont be playable on other platforms.

2. Consoles are a unified platform with less hassle for the average consumer. When people buy a game they dont want to have any problems with it. Console is put in a disk and go. PC isnt always like this. Also the PC isnt supported as much with content to games. Such as with games like Call of Duty, Battlefield, Portal 2, Mirrors Edge, and Grand Theft Auto 5 which isnt even coming to PC. Also there is never really any exclusive content for games because there is no one there ala Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo to provide the cash for it. There is Valve with Steam but when do you see it.

3.With a unified platform you get a unified experience. With PC when you are in a game and you meet some one it is pretty much in that game. For that gaming session you made a friend. But no where else will you possibly keep that friend other than in that game. While on console you have one network. Like PSN or XBL or Nintendo Network, you get one stable platform for your game you can make a friend in 1 game and go to another in a easier fashion due to better communication between games through the platform.

This isnt it but I just wanted to lay the ground in why some people like Console over PC and PC Gamers need to deal with it.

Another thing that's nice is the portability on the go and it's more cost effective then PC gaming on the hardware side.
IMO.
However the extra money that you spend on PC gaming is worth it because you get a top of the line gaming machine that can do more then just game.
Also if you take into account all of the game deals on Steam, Amazon, GOG, etc. you save a lot of money in the long run on game spending.

PC is superior no doubt. You will get better graphics, performance, games are cheaper, its upgradable, in some cases controls are better then a controller. But in the end it comes down to games. Consoles not only have exclusives but also get their platform specific exclusives. For me PS3 had infamous, DBZ, Naruto, Mortal Kombat, Uncharted, God of War, Heavy Rain, Red Dead Redemption and now Last of Us and Beyond Two Souls. I wouldn't get these quality games on a pc. So I don't game on a PC. If I had access to these games on PC I would had been gaming on it plus nowdays some games seem to get really late PC release dates compared to consoles.

Pc gamers are never satisfied. They always have to be king. They brag about how beautiful their games/graphics are and as soon as consoles are able to produce the same level of graphics some time later, all of a sudden that best looking game is void. They spend hrs defending a game and suddenly next gen they forget all about it. Lets look at crysis pc vs console, yes the pc version is better but it's a big leap as ps2 to ps3. If crysis was to come to ps4, then ofcourse it would look as good or better than the pc version. Compare crysis 3 across pc and consoles, and imagine a ps4 version made, it would matvh the pc version seeing how the differences in crysis 3 version aren't that great. What you pc fanboys need to realise is that the ps4 can match any game made today on pc and even better. From a graphics and performance standpoint, if you treasure ur visuals on current pcs you should not be talking shit about next gen consoles regarding graphics. No matter how powerfull the pc is, no one is going or has developed a game that has not been done on console. Consoles will still be getting the best exclusives and some of the best looking games each year.

i used to think the same as all the console fanboy until i got my first gaming PC and now i think gaming PCs are better but gaming consoles are relatively good for there price and they all have there good exclusives the people that say PCs don't should do some research about it before they go shouting there mouths off. i personally think steam box is going to be better than consoles as it sorta brings both pc and gaming consoles in to one machine.
