5 Franchises that need a rest

MMGN: It's the same deal every time - a new intellectual property is released, we fall in love with it, and companies think the best idea is to pump out a new title year after year, irrespective of quality. That's not to say that the games I'm about to mention are terrible - in fact, many of them have upheld a strong standard over the years - but it's hard to maintain excitement for an upcoming game when a new one is releasing by the time you've finished its predecessor.

I could live without the first four. But I just can't give up on Resident Evil, I love this series sooo much. Re 6 was extremely bad but I still enjoyed it (yes I know, that's a shame) because of Leon, Chris, Sherry and Oh god...Ada ! Actually, I can't wait for Capcom to annouche Re 7, even though I know they will most probably screw it up. I'm weird.

i actually agree with u, RESI 6 was a fun yet strange game, some parts were very good and some were garbage but when u compare it to resi4, it pales in comparison

I feel the same way about 6, I liked it more than I probably should have. It's by far the worst game of the series, but I liked the story enough to keep going. As for re5, I felt like it was a possibly the best game in the series because of the accessibility...I could pick up and play with my friends using my weapons, using my upgrades, using my costumes, and doing the achievements was a blast...I hope re7 brings back what re4 and re5 did right and thats weapon upgrades, but if it doesnt allow for new game + like re5 I don't want it

another game is god of war. as much as i love the series. its time for either kratos story to end entirely or they come up with something else for a change.

I can't explain to you just how disappointing it was to see Ascension receive such mediocre reception. God of War is NOT a 7-8/10 franchise. I know reviews shouldn't matter but God of War is the kind of larger than life franchise that should completely renders all reviewers speechless.

To the guys at Sony Santa Monica: It's back to the Drawing Board now for Kratos (or another hero) and I am so sure that the next game in this franchise, be it in 2 years or 4,5 etc. will be a colossal installment!

I don't agree with Street Fighter. It has had only one release with multiple updates that improved on the fighting. I would count that as added DLC.

the final fantasy game only have the name in commun,every final fantasy is diferent to the others,what the last games were bad is no reason to finish.is sad what the gamers not recognize what the final fantasy ever have changes and never a games is the same,in comparisson elder scroll,mass effect are more the same but how sell good nobody cares.

There is so much history for Squenix to draw on, that I still want to see them make a new FF (imagine a FF game that looks as good as the Luminous Engine demo with the gameplay of past FF glory). What they need to do is get away from the stupid sequels.

If you discount the spin-offs (which is what I consider the FFXIII sequels) and FFXIV (like I discount FFXI since they are so different from the series, like FF Tactics), they've really only made one bad (well, bad for a FF game) FF game.

I'm not ready to forget the series yet. Still wanna see FFvsXIII, and whatever they decide to reveal for next generation. Would love a new console version of FFT as well.

Ah Resident Evil 4. I DO have fond memories of this game (chainsaws, bosses, maze, sewers etc) but I could also feel gnawing problems in it too. Getting chased by a statue for instance. A trader with a silly accent who's already set up shop wherever you happen to be going.
You might know that Devil May Cry is essentially an earlier abandoned version of Resident Evil 4 (this is before the abandoned supernatural RE4 version as well).
Dante is essentially similar to Leon Kennedy in appearance and the idea of using castles as locations is seen in both games. And RE4, although it has its very scary parts, is also generally more of a 'show off' (veering on cheesy sometimes) game like Devil May Cry, rather than like earlier Resident Evil games. So it's no wonder that Dante still goes strong while RE stumbles. RE4 was really kind of a Dante game.

Some games just need a "Good" Reboot. I think theyre going to reboot resident evil, and if they do, I hope they make it scary again, a real next gen horror-survival game

Ubisoft always has something to offer with AC. AC3 wasn't made by the same people who made Brotherhood/Revelations.

Dead Space is a boss serious that IMO is getting better, sure it has strayed from Isaac being a mute and taking his time through the Ishimura. DS3 was fun and they made the best out of MP with Co-op since they were cornered into it.
