xbox, ps3 and pc all did well but the xbox did the best. the wii lacked proper software titles for the past three years and a lot of people thought nintendo would have a lot of software titles for the wii u but that wasnt the case at all which is eveident by the software release schedule for wii u. wii u was released too early imo. the wii u will have to go months with very bad sales until the big hitters are out at christmas time and go up against ps4 and xbox 720 which will further strain saleswii u software and hardware sales.

The Wii has the largest install base for this console gen hence the sales. PSP is a dying handheld that was rife for piracy and has been abandonned byb many devs, so shouldn't really be outselling Nintendo's latest kit.

Vita and the WiiU is a better comparison for recently released hardware.

@caseh, if the Vita and WiiU comparison is the better one, why didn't you go there to start with? Why did you choose a handheld with 75 million users VS a new console with barely 3 million users? Why is it fair to compare the very new WiiU to the established psp but foul to compare the established Wii to the newish Vita?

These are US sales numbers and the 360 supposedly has 42+ million consoles in the US in comparison to the PS3 which only has 26+ million consoles.

YET SOME HOW the software sales are extremely close 787,016 to 716,589

and even closer than that:

To me it doesn't look like the 360 is doing all that well at all, it SHOULD be selling almost double the software that the PS3 sells in the US yet it's no where near double.

It looks to me you have no idea how the Xbox fanboys act, it can be said I'm more of a PS guy, but I can tell the difference between both PS & Xbox fanboys, in that regard, there might be more PS fans on N4G, but does not mean they're the worst, if you look back in 2005-06, Xbox blind boys were all around N4G because of the fact 360 was out first and how the launch line up was "The biggest and best in gaming history", and always mimics MS execs's words, and talking crap about PS3 until it started to get more pumped up, and I wouldn't be surprised lots of these guys turned into PS3 fans. Maybe both react badly on their own merits, but honestly there's no such a thing on earth as worst as the Xbox fanboys. They always praise everything Microsoft does, even if for most people is a bad move.

They praised Microsoft for not allowing Rare to work on Killer Instinct 3, one of the best fighting games ever made, I bet you both Sony & Nintendo fans would love to see it happening, maybe some Xbox owners too, but Xbox Blind-boys are like the Yankee fans, they never acknowledge Microsoft mistakes!

Funny thing about the PC numbers is while they are impressive, it's for retail locations. As far as I know, Steam doesn't release numbers, neither do GOG or GMG.

PC gaming is benefiting from the stale consoles. I upgraded my PC and have been gaming on it again. I never thought it would happen... You realize how out of date the consoles are when you have a lightning fast PC.

lol pc gamers are buying sim city that is not good but i always knew they werent to bright though. also pc numbers only do decent because the big name games like gta 5, last of us and god of war and other exclusives werent on this list. pc doesnt really have any worth while exclusives. sim city sucks but they buy it anyway to get ripped off and drm'd to death. consoles will lways be the masters and a matter of fact you might as well combine the ps3/x360 numbers because they almost basically the same except ps3 has more games. next gen we will have everyone mostly get the ps4 and the console user base wont be split as much.
