Assassin's Creed 2 was absolutely great, but the rest of the AC games weren't as good as pt. 2,

Oh, the Arkham games were fantastic! They deserve a mention as well.

Binary Domain for me, sadly it sold so poorly i'd be surprised if the lead developer hasn't been locked in a dungeon for its lack of sales...and off the back of that no sequel/DLC. :(

Loved it! Some fantastic boss fights and characters in that game.

Other than that, Mass Effect and Demon's Souls/ Dark Souls are among my favourite new IP's this gen. And Deus Ex, although technically that doesn't count but.

I had to borrow a 360 just to play Mass Effect, was jaw dropping the sheer scope of the game and absolutely loved it. Slight decline as the series went on but still very playable!

Demon's Souls consumed me for a few weeks when it first come about. Couldn't get into Dark Souls though, I knew I would build a char, realise I had wasted items or skill points when leveling up and realise I would have to start a new char build...all that went through my head by the time I reached the first camp fire. :)

Not everybody's cup of tea... But the Souls series (Demon's/Dark Souls) is my personal favourite of this generation. It brought back frustrating yet rewarding gameplay. I really missed that from the old NES days.

First Mario isn't a trilogy because there are a ton of Mario games. And second this article is about new intellectual properties and thus doesn't include any Nintendo franchises.

And third stop being a fanboy and just admit that Nintendo isn't known fr producing great new IPS.

Demon's Souls by far, the MP alone was sheer brilliance. Whoever thought that up is a genius. That game was really something else.
