Why Persona 3 FES is Still Worth Playing After 5 Years

DualShockers Writes: "Even though I was thoroughly captivated by the remarkable anime fighter Persona 4: Arena, I’d actually never played any of the proper Persona RPGs. Our editor Chad Awkerman urged me to try one of them on more than one occasion and when I saw Persona 3: FES on the PlayStation Store for just $10, I couldn’t resist jumping in and seeing what all the hype was about. What my $10 bought me was a thrilling 80+ hour ride through what is without a doubt one of the most unique and compelling JRPGs I’ve played in recent years.

This is one title that you’d very much rather experience late than never."

One of the best RPG's I've played. However Persona 4 is still better.

Kratoscar20084055d ago

Gameplay maybe but P3 is better in story, character development and difficulty.

Althoug i prefer the other Megatens like Strange Journey and Digital Devil Saga.

VileAndVicious4055d ago (Edited 4055d ago )

Agreed I enjoyed P3 much more over all. P3s story was just so good.... And sad.

Lol also the way they summoned personas in P3 was bad ass!

One thing about the SMT games (especially the rereleases like FES and Golden) is that there's so much content! I mean, the games are just jam-packed with tons of stuff to do.

Aggesan4055d ago

Busy with Persona 4 Golden at the moment. Will maybe try this later, or just wait for Persona 5.

Funny story I just beat this a few days ago, both parts to be exact. Yeah one of the best RPGs ever. Time to get Persona 4 Golden.

What's better 3 or 4 Golden? I played 4, but haven't played 3

GoodGuy09315d ago

I preferred Golden and unfortunately haven't beaten 3 as it's pretty hard to go back to it. I do know some points of the story etc though and have always heard most people liked the story in 3 better.

This remake will be perfect for me if true. And hopefully combines FES and portable's content.

VersusDMC315d ago

Prefer the story, characters and soundtrack in P3. Wait for the remake to play it as the PS2 originals don't let you control your party members and P3portable(the one that was remastered) is a substantial downgrade visually.

Well we’ve seen the leaked images so it’s coming for sure.

Persona 3 Still Doesn’t Have The Modern Release It Deserves

TheGamer's Meg Pelliccio says: "Atlus has just launched ports of Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden to modern consoles, allowing old fans a chance to take a trip down memory lane while newbies can experience them for the very first time. Persona 5 and Royal saw the fanbase boom, so it’s no surprise that lots of fans have yet to check out these earlier titles. As much as I enjoy and would recommend both, I can’t help feeling that this launch missed the opportunity to settle an old score once and for all."

Neither does Tales of the Abyss

At least P3 is playable on modern platforms whereas TotA was only rereleased on 3DS

Terry_B451d ago

Yeah.. playing Persona 3 via PS2 Emulator is sadly still the best choice :(

Grilla451d ago

Started it this weekend, for a min I thought there was no 3d exploration until I got into the dungeon. Just a weird choice with the static pic.
