That's just marketing and also makes a deal easier to achieve. Also this is in no way limited to All-Stars, since Capcom did the same with Marvel vs Capcom 3. Virtually every character included related to something coming out or was probably added to get a feel of the market. Like Deadpool's popularity in 3 was most likely a selling point / feeler for the game.

Naughty Dog only has 2 teams as of when they decided to create The Last of Us (Which I can't wait for) but originally they only had 1. One is currently working on TLOU and the other is working on something we don't know about but could probably guess is Uncharted 4 for the PS4 or another new IP (New IP is probably less likely because Uncharted could be a system seller)

Oh diggidy damn! This just screams classic Crash! I hope this is real. There was already a classic Spyro hoax that was debunked a few months ago. Some guy started a twitter for the company who made Enter the Dragonfly claiming that they were working on a new Spyro that would return to the roots. Man that was disappointing....

I remember there was a picture at acti in their Skylanders office/area and they had a poster of Crash in the back of the room. I wonder if that is what this is about. They have confirmed they are making another skylanders game. Maybe instead of Spyro, it is Crash now.
