Leviathyn.com | Sure, the comparison has been made between the two. But how similar are Tomb Raider and Uncharted?
Tomb Raider I, II, III Remastered is available now on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Lara Croft is back in a classic remaster of the original PlayStation 1 hit title. Is the remaster any good though?
We've gone on many adventures with Lara Croft. With another reboot in the making, Wealth of Geeks felt it was a good time to go down the nostalgia rabbit hole and remember the best of those tomb-raiding thrills.
For me, Legend should be alot higher (along with the other two ). Shadow, I enjoyed it, but has too much has fluff, as modern games tend to do. Playing the remastered series, and apart from the controls, is very good.
I really enjoyed the first 2 games, Legend and the first of the reboots and the rest I didn’t get into so I never finished.
Completely subjective list. I really liked Underworld, I preferred Lara's design. That said I loved the horror/uncharted feel of the reboot. I think all the TR games have strengths and weaknesses. None are objectively better in every way.
Like the film or television industry, the world of gaming has seen its fair share of reboots over the years. While some of these video game reboots have had
I think the real comparison is going to end up being between Tomb Raider and The Last of Us. Tomb Raider is much more gritty and survivalish than Uncharted.
One of the main differences mentioned in the video is basically that Tomb Raider has a 'grittier' story. While this is very true I found that the bigger difference while playing was down to animation and the way the games flow. This is where, imo, Uncharted outshines Tomb Raider in every respect, with Naughty Dogs high quality motion capture adding much greater believably to characters and movement. To be fair though, Tomb Raider is so well done that it's very easy to give it a free pass for it's many similarities.
Reveiwers say Tomb Raider is better in every way possible.
Uncharted has characters developed over the series which is the only edge.
IMO Uncharted doesn't touch the story telling blending, graphics or gameplay mechanics.
Tomb Raider is gritty, mature, grounded and has a sense of connection with the charater's mortality unmatched in gaming(on the Hard setting) Better gameplay a new cover system other games copying Gears Of War now need to match with TR. Upgrading weapons and skills in this genre is big making TR better just because of that.
Environmental weather and physics doesn't seem possible on consoles nor does the lighting and effects. Textures don't seem possible nor does the quality of the foliage and its sharpness. Destruction on such an epic scale unmatched
Enenmy Kill animations are 2nd to non and are fast(not canned)
More open world
The game is almost designed like you're partners with the character instead of simply controlling an avatar. You pay attention what Laura's doing and saying and meet here half way in her/your survival
Indiana Jones movies + A female protagonist = Tomb Raider (1996)
Indiana Jones movies + Tomb Raider (1996) = Uncharted series.
Uncharted series + Tomb Raider (1996) = Tomb Raider (2013)
And in all honesty, there is not a whole lot of similarities between the Uncharted/Tomb Raider games, other than them both being treasure hunters. Both are original in their own ways. Both have something to offer.
Tomb raider plays nothing like uncharted.going in I thought it would but trust me when I say they are two completely different experiences.uncharted is great and tomb raider is back to greatness.I guess this article was bound happen but its pointless, they're nothing alike besides jumping and treasure and even those elements are'nt the same.
